She had a tendency to over sing during that era. She really perfected her voice by the time she went out on tour though.

Don't think the Grammy performance really did the song justice - she seemed to oversing it and just didn't seem to work live was a bit flat to me  - but absolutely loved how she performed and sang it on the Celebration tour. 
Think may have done better if it was the third single after Ray of Light. In the UK it was the 5th single after Power of Goodbye and Drowned World

It should have been the 3rd single in the US and finished off with POG.
The video is one of my all time favorites from her but it was oddly, pretty much a non event that came and went. 
I also remember it being a bit devisive with fans because they wanted another track, usually Skin or Sky Fits Heaven. 
It's in great company with Bad Girl, Bedtime Story, and Get Together. 
 

I do remember being surprised when it was excluded from Drowned World. I'm really glad she gave it the attention it deserves, finally.

She sounded so much better on the celebration tour than all the tours from S&S to Madame X and the songs sounded better too - love what Stuart Price does with her live arrangements and vocal mixing with tapes ,live vocals with autotune and other effects

You’re right, i made a compilation of all her live tour albums, i uploaded it on ShareMania if anyone wants to download it, but i don’t really like or even enjoy a bit her tours from Sticky and Sweet to Madame X, she sounds HORRIBLE in my perspective and she’s boring, i just think Confessions Tour is perfect even with that high pitch in her voice sometimes, yet i do love around 2 tracks per album, like “You Must Love Me” & “Vogue/4 Minutes” from S&S Tour
 
the one i like the most is Blond Ambition Tour, she sounds so natural, cute but strong, filled with energy, powerful, funny af, and i she may not sing so well but i don’t care, i love her energy in that concert

Wish she would have used him again for remixes. Think she asked him to remix Human Nature after she fell out with Junior Vasquez over the If Madonna Calls record he did - am glad we got these Danny Tenalglia mixes and not more Junior mixes as brilliant as they were for Secret and Bedtime Story  

Bedtime Story performance at the Brits was fantastic one of her best live tv show performances and the week after the single was released in the UK and went straight into the top 10 after Take A Bow was kind of ignored in the UK and broke her long run of top 10 hits only reaching number 16.

Tough one - I don’t really love the BS album but I think it has probably the best set of music videos - each one is totally different and unique - not an easy feat when you consider how diff each song was - I would have chosen erotica but deeper and erotica videos are a bit depressing

Think it's a really underrated album - great vocals, songwriting and production too and flows well despite the different songwriters and producers involved and the era was great for starting to re-build public opinion after the Erotica era backlash without compromising her as an artist and a great step towards getting the lead role in Evita. Warners and her PR agent Liz Rosenberg did an amazing job. Remixes and videos for all 4 singles were fantastic - but there were better tracks than Human Nature that could have done better as singles and got more radio play but she had already acheived chart success from the album with Secret and Take A Bow and think she wanted to get a message out about the Erotica era by making Human Nature a single. It is a great album, absolutely. Its only downfall is that it goes in 2 different directions. But this “mistake” is what helped make Ray of Light what it was. Sometimes you have to get it wrong to get it right. But Bedtime Stories is an enjoyable listen anyway, like you said it still flows.

It boils my blood when I see people calling it "bland, R&B, ballad" she did desperately to win the public back from the 90's girls.
There's not a one Bedtime Story, Sanctuary, Human Nature or even a Secret in any Mariah, Celine, Janet or Whitney album by 1994.

Bedtime Stories is a huge demonstration of Madonna's knack as a producer, without her tight fist the album would be such a mismatch of sounds.

"Bedtime Stories" was a lush and expensive affair. Calling those songs B-Side material I mean, the ignorance. She was put to work with some of the best and most expensive producers of that era, Dallas Austin, Babyface, Nellee Hooper.
It was essential in the much needed at that point rebuild of her brand (with "Evita" later) and maybe she wouldn't even have a career now without that album. Plus she managed to combine the more obvious commercial moments ("Secret", "Take A Bow", "Forbidden Love") with the artistic statements ("Love Tried To Welcome Me", "Sanctuary", "Bedtime Story" and "Human Nature" singles and videos, both huge risks especially in the US after her longest #1 single ever).
It's a key album in her journey but sadly quite forgotten now.

I love it but I think Love Tried to Welcome Me was a bit too sombre for mainstream radio. Forbidden Love would have been top 10 for sure, possible even top 5 in the US. Don’t Stop probably as well. I bet Warner were frustrated with Madonna’s insistence on BS and HN.
I don’t know why they couldn’t have just had a different release schedule for the US. The markets were quite different in those days. But I assume it’s because doing 6 videos wasn’t realistic. Or perhaps they believed the hype for the Bedtime Story video would be worth it.
