Dont shout at me! but a lot of posts ive noticed lately from a few people are downers. People should look at their past posts and wonder if we should all look at all were posting?. She's only human. Would have loved the Virgin Tour as her Farewell!!

Honestly, ...  I'm also totally over this kind of pseudo-melancholic nostalgia to the seemingly long-passed time in which "Madonna was truly MADONNA.". The exact same thing has obviously been repeated tiresomely, over and over again, ever since Madonna first changed her previously distinctive look of messy hair and colourful ‘street’ clothing and jewellery in a more mature look as Mrs Penn known for the iconic short, platinum hairstyle. Poor Maripol was left with a full warehouse of rubber crucifix earrings that were suddenly no longer selling and was bankrupted in 1987.
The paradox is that Madonna simultaneously both always been as well as has never been "truly Madonna". Who is the true Madonna? A punk-influenced cheeky 80's pop star? A modernized version of Marilyn Monroe? An controversial activist for the feminist and queer progressive movements? A profound spirituality seeker? A fitness enthusiast and gym owner? A screenplay writer and movie director? A devoted mother? A posh estate-owner in the English country-side? A children's book author? A skincare ambassador?
I hate to burst your bubble but the incarnation of Madonna during Confessions and this part of her life was just probably the way you had "discovered" her and it was what first attracted you to her, as it was uncovering before your eyes. You could just as well argue that the faux-English accent on the Confession Tour was no more "truly Madonna" than her grillz and Instagram selfies are nowadays. No one that has grown up with Erotica and Truth or Dare would not have been predict even remotely what the actual subject and content of a book called The English Roses would turn out to.be.

IT'S ALL TRULY MADONNA TO ME
ISN'T THAT REALLY THE BEAUTY OF IT ALL?

The overreaction here ! Seriously come back in a few months and read what you wrote again...or in a few years. You shouldn't be spending that much time on someone especially to be so negative. Ask yourself why this triggers so much rage in you. It's unhealthy to witness. Really.  Breathe and think it over. It's not that important and not that bad.

May I say I also don't like the Vogue moves she has been using recently? It reminds me of those who can't do it properly, or those who try to imitate her in Truth or Dare sequence

I...did not expect so many negative reactions in this thread.

I thought the opening sequence was brilliant. The nod to New York City, the classic "$35 dollars and a dream" story and watching all those iconic videos displayed at once in Times Square really put into context everything she has achieved in the past 40 years. It dawned on me that it will never be another megastar like Madonna and once again, it remind me of the sheer magnitude of her legacy.

As for the actual appearance, I respect that she took the time out of her day to give MTV some credit. The cheering from the Gen Z crowd - that most definitely wasn't old enough to experience her peak - was almost like a victory lap. They might not know much about her career but they sure know she is a living legend.

And there she is, four decades later, still dressed in typical Madonna fashion, only older and more experienced. She's no longer 'like a virgin' but a seasoned industry veteran. Not an ambitious 'lucky star' but an indisputable icon. It made me feel weirdly nostalgic and I'm so grateful to still have her around because the thought of a world without Madonna is sad. Having Cyndi in the same building only added up to the nostalgia, even when admittedly I wasn't old enough to experience the 80s.

I expected most fans to recognize the cultural importance of this 40th career anniversary but instead, most comments go from off topic criticism (the quality of her music in the past 10 years) to personal attacks (divorce did a number on her, her lack of confidence, her plastic surgery) and plain offensive assumptions (she is a raging alcoholic or has a drug problem because of her Instagram posts).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should all be sycophants "Yasss Queen"-ing at her every move move but you know what year is it? It's 2021. Madonna is not longer a chart-topping pop star but a legacy act. She’s one of the few lucky survivors from the MTV era. From now on, physically demanding tours will be more infrequent and her brand will mostly focus on celebrating her past achievements, with only occasional new music for her niche fanbase.

I think holding her up to the same standards from 15-20 years ago is not only ridiculous but unfair. Our girl is older now. Of course she will have insecurities as an ageing sex symbol in the limelight but I don’t think she has changed that much on the inside, actually. She's still provocative and polarizing. She still refuses to be what society expects her to be. She's still passionate as ever about her newest projects. And I think that ageing on her own terms will be her last powerful statement.

If you think about it, her outfit looks straight out of the Erotica era and her attention-getting ways are no different than the bratty 31 year old woman from Truth Or Dare. But I guess for some fans that behavior doesn’t look as appealing now that Madonna is 63. Too much for society being more open-minded and progressive.

I really think Madame X is gonna be a long-form video showing the concert and an extensive documentary presenting the genesis of the album and the development of the tour with lots of BTS. if so, I'd be satisfied with the wait! if not, I'd still be happy to be able to watch the show on video.
no news about the MTV airing?

YourInnerIsland reacted to RinoTheBouncer in Unpopular Madonna Opinions
    Hey everyone!
Do you find yourself liking certain Madonna songs, music videos or tours that are rarely mentioned by the majority of fans? do you think a specific popular bit of her career to be a bit overrated to you? is there a special thing you prefer in her career, looks or creations that most people don't seem to like? share your unpopular opinions! Here are mine:

    1. The best Madonna album artworks are MDNA standard edition (the full body shot behind ribbed glass, in a red dress) along with Rebel Heart Deluxe Edition (with the wires) and Madame X deluxe (blond hair).
    2. I prefer albums from Ray of Light until the present way more than the earlier albums, even though I still adore all her works, old and new.
    3. American Life is probably the best work she's ever done after Confessions on a Dancefloor and Ray of Light
    4. MDNA album is a work of art and it's hugely underrated.
    5. Every tour from Drowned World and onwards is way better than the previous ones. Blond Ambition Tour is great, yes but Madonna surpassed that so many times already and it's by no means her best tour, and it's actually hugely overrated compared to her far superior recent ones.
    6. I don't see the appeal in Faz Gostoso...
    7. Looking For Mercy is one of the best songs she's ever made and it's not getting enough recognition.
    8. Get Together is her best dance up-beat song and it's way better than Hung Up, Sorry, Ray of Light, Give It 2 Me, 4 Minutes and probably any single she released after it.
    9. X-STaTIC Pro=CeSS book and exhibition are a pinnacle of her career and one of her best looks ever.
    10. Unapologetic Bitch is probably the worst songs she's ever made.
    11. Bad-ass and disco Madonna from Die Another Day and American Life and Confessions on a Dancefloor aesthetics is way better than the fishnets, crucifixes and bustiers from Hard Candy, Rebel Heart, Madame X and the past eras.
    12. Ghosttown, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, To Have and Not to Hold, Mer Girl, Easy Ride and Justify My Love are among her best tracks she’s ever made.
    13. The 80s are Madonna’s most overrated decade. It has some of her best songs, yes. It’s when she made her first and most explosive moves, yes but she surpassed that in her 90s and 00s by miles, and in terms of touring, MDNA, Confessions Tour, Re-Invention Tour, Drowned World Tour and Sticky & Sweet are far better than Blond Ambition and Erotica is leagues better than Like A Prayer, True Blue, Like A Virgin and Madonna as an as an album and same applies to anything from ROL and onwards.
    14. Die Another Day is her best song and music video.
    15. God Control is one of the best tracks she's ever made and it should've been performed at Eurovision instead of Future and had the album launch and tour ticket sales the next day.
    16. I'm tired of hearing Madonna perform oldies over and over on her tours. I'd much rather have new material and forgotten gems like Easy Ride, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, Falling Free..etc. over a 10000th rendition of Vogue, Like A Prayer, La Isla Bonita or Hung Up.
    17. I can’t stand 95% of her remixes or remixes in general. The only remixes that I genuinely liked as much as the album version (if not more) are Frozen (Stereo MC), What It Feels Like for a Girl (Above & Beyond), Celebration (Benny Bennasi & Akon remixes), Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold) and God Control (Offer Nissim). The rest feel rather unlistenable.

That's all I can remember for now, so feel free to share yours.

I think it'll be a long video with 2 parts: the show and the documentary/behind-the-scenes. I don't think she cut songs that weren't in the trailer, I just can't imagine her leaving the Rescue Me interlude while cutting Medellín or Like a Prayer from the film.

I have a bottle of bubbly in the wine rack ready to be chilled for the first viewing. But that’ll be gone before the show and I’m pretty sure I’ll just switch to Chardonnay. And a beer for the beer bitch section. And then Uber eats McDick’s most likely. Something like that.
