  1. My personal wish list of single length edits for FEL vol 2 would include:

    Everybody (Stuart Price Remix 2005)

    Burning Up (7” Edit)

Like A Virgin (Stuart Price Remix 2005)

Into the Groove (Re-invention Tour Studio Version)

    Dress You Up (Remix/Edit)

Gambler (Extended Dance Version - no additional editing down)

    True Blue (Remix/Edit)

Open Your Heart (Extended Version / New Edit for FEL)

La Isla Bonita (Extended Remix) 05:34 - not the Remix Edit

Where’s The Party? (You Can Dance Single Edit)

Causing A Commotion (Silver Screen Single Edit)

Hanky Panky (Bare Bottom 12” Mix / New Edit For FEL)

    Rain (Radio Remix)

    Waiting (Remix)

    Bye Bye Baby (House Mix)

Secret (Some Bizarre Mix - Single Mix)

Secret (Junior’s Sound Factory Mix Edit)

    Bedtime Story (Orbital Remix Edit)

Bedtime Story (Juniors Sound Factory Remix Edit)

Human Nature (Human Club Mix Radio Edit)

Buenos Aires (Te Amo Remix Edit)

Drowned World/Substitute For Love (BT & Sasha’s Bucklodge Ashram Remix Re-Edit)

Sky Fits Heaven (Sasha Remix Edit)

Nothing Really Matters (Kruder & Dormeister Mono Mix - or the Vocal Mix)

Skin (Peter Rauhofer & Victor Calderone Collaboration Remix / New Edit for FEL)

Music Inferno (Stuart Price Remix 2005)

Nobody Knows Me (Re-invention Tour  Studio Version)

    Hollywood (Thin White Duck Mix/Edit)

Beautiful Killer (MDNA Tour Studio Version)

Yes, I’d include studio versions of remixes for live performances :) Would be fantastic! (Original album vocals switched in where required to make them work better as new official remixes).

YouTube has edits of many fantastic Junior Vazquez mixes and I’d want them ALL 😆

and just for fun, Sidewalk Talk (Funhouse Mix)

  2. Would a Finally Enough Love volume two be popular with forum members?

Personally I really liked the concept of giving us a whole career spanning string of remastered single length edits of Madonna remixes. Some of her best mixes were only widely available in long or very long versions and sometimes listening to a single edit is all I want.

I also like the way that FEL brought us some rarer mixes like Impressive Instant, because previously commercially unavailable promo only / DJ only mixes were included.

I’d love a FEL volume two, but I wouldn’t retain the ‘dance chart number ones’ marketing ginmick and instead give any and all remixed songs a chance for inclusion if they are good enough to make the cut of another curated shortlist.

What mixes would forum members want on a volume two?

Top of my list would be Causing A Commotion!! Obviously! 😂

  3. Bit disappointed that The Immaculate Collection is still messed up on Apple Music.

Lucky Star - is still  the 12” mix
Borderline - is still the ‘Madonna’ LP version)

Is anyone/everyone else seeing this on their Apple Music?
Several tracks are showing as Lossless, rather than Dolby Atmos on my app:
Holiday, Like A Virgin, Crazy For You, Live To Tell, La Isla Bonita, Cherish.

Hoping that the album files on Apple Music will be updated/corrected at some point 🤞

If you want your single to get attention, you use the single/original version in the video if you want it to do well.

It made no sense, but we got great mixes!

I know what you mean, but in the UK there was a trend of singles getting a dance mix to secure play on pop radio. The Corrs and Everything But the Girl spring immediately to mind. The unrecognisable remix of Professional Widow with most of the lyrics cut got to number one on the sales chart and was a mega hit for Tori Amos eclipsing performance of all her other singles.

So I wasn’t surprised when WIFLFAG had an unrecognisable remix for the single.

The WIFLFAG video was just trying to drum up some controversy for attention as that had worked for her years earlier.

I’m not sure that Madonna is the best judge of the relative merits of her own work if some of her choices for the set lists of her tours is anything to go by. I’ve thought that since Candy Perfume Girl was chosen over two fantastic singles and far better album tracks on RoL like Skin for Drowned World Tour.

I don’t like that song at all haha.

    It’s a lesser ‘Beautiful Stranger’.

I think the regular version of WIFLFAG being sent to radio with a fun studio video, would have gotten the single in the top 20, but it was DOA and the album ended after that.

It always reminded me of Beautiful Stranger, so it didn’t feel like a good choice of single. Madonna doesn’t like to sound like she’s repeating herself. So for that reason I think Impressive Instant would have been a better choice, unless they remixed Amazing to give it a more individual sound. Two William Orbit produced hits for  All Saints were big in the UK in 2000 so it made tracks like Amazing sound less fresh to me when they came out. I played Pure Shores and Black Coffee to death, they’re brilliant singles.

I thought WIFLFAG was a really odd choice for a single. The song garnered critical praise for the album, but it didn’t feel as commercial a choice of single as Music or Don’t Tell Me. The edgy video and club mix are so divorced from the vibe and sound of the album version that they barely feel connected at all.

I don’t think anything on the Music album comes close to matching the hit potential of Music or Don’t Tell Me, but I’d  like the era to have carried on with one more hit with video and remixes. Sometimes I thought Runaway Lover, which never seems to get mentioned, might have had potential as a pop radio and club hit.

  6. Fingers crossed that like with Erotica EPs we will be seeing an American Life single at the same rate. So Hollywood either this next or next week 🤞

I’d love her to have performed the Jacques Lu Cont remix of Hollywood at Re-invention Tour instead of using it as an interlude. It had a great energy about it at the show and it became a favourite mix of mine after that

  7. Happy 35th anniversary to the Japan Spotlight single. Such a shame that this song is forgotten by the mainstream. As far as I know it wasn’t released to the radio here in the UK.

An exclusive track was a key selling point for You Can Dance so I guess that’s why it wasn’t released as a physical single elsewhere. They could have released a remix of Where’s the Party as a single to promote YCD though. And Madonna  liked that song at the time enough to include in Blond Ambition set list so I don’t see why she wouldn’t have approved.

Do you reckon Where’s the Party remix would have been another big hit for M in 1987?

  8. Is there any chance that American Life - Mixshow might come out as a digital EP in the future?

Now that we’ve got unmixed You Can Dance, is there a chance for other rarities on streaming alongside the EPs?

Even where the tracks are all already available to stream, having them in these track listings with the original art would still be nice things to have :)

    e.g.

DJ Promo only 12”s to promote Immaculate Collection: Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Vogue, Justify My Love

DJ Promo 12”s with promo only remixes like "Nothing Fails" (Peter Rauhofer's Lost In Space Mix) – 8:36

    Broken 12” maxi single

    The Holiday Collection

    Confessions Remixed

    True Blue (Super Club Mix)

    She’s Breathless

    This is… nothin’ but Madonna

    GHV2 Remixed

What It Feels Like For A Girl (That Kid Chris Caligula 2001 Mix) 9:51

Don't Tell Me (Timo Maas Mix) 6:55

Drowned World / Substitute For Love (BT & Sasha Bucklodge Ashram Mix) 9:27

Human Nature (Bottom Heavy Dub) 7:56

    Frozen (Extended Club Mix) 11:17

Erotica (Masters At Work Dub) 4:50

Deeper And Deeper (David's Klub Mix) 7:39

Ray Of Light (Calderone Club Mix) 9:30

Beautiful Stranger (Calderone Club Mix) 10:12

Bedtime Story (Luscious Dub Mix) 7:40

Secret (Junior's Sound Factory Dub) 7:58

    Music (HQ2 Club Mix) 8:50

    It’s That Girl

    Holiday (Edit) 4:02

    Lucky Star (Edit) 3:48

    Like A Virgin 3:35

    Material Girl 3:57

    Into The Groove 4:38

    Angel (Remix Edit) 4:51

    Dress You Up 3:58

    Borderline (Remix Edit) 3:59

    Live To Tell (Edit) 4:32

    Papa Don't Preach 4:22

    True Blue (Remix) 4:23

    Open Your Heart (Remix) 3:57

    La Isla Bonita (Remix) 3:58

    Who’s That Girl 3:54

There’s just so much potential to keep the re-promotion of the back catalogue going through extra singles/EPs/compilations on the streaming apps

What are we still missing for single release EPs?

Hollywood, DAD, Nothing Fails?, Love Profusion

    Don’t Tell Me

    Drowned World, TPOG

    Cherish, Oh Father, Dear Jessie

there’s plenty more to look forward to, such as:

    Angel, Dress You Up

Who’s That Girl, Causing A Commotion

    Keep It Together

This Used To Be My Playground, I’ll Remember, You’ll See

    Don’t Cry For Me Argentina

Then there’s stuff like Secret where they released the remixes EP on digital, so could release another digital single with the Secret instrumental and Let Down Your Guard (rough mix edit)

These ones have great mixes of other tracks :)

Drowned World with Sky Fits Heaven mixes

Nothing Fails with Nobody Knows Me mixer

Crazy for You only has the TIC version uploaded on Spotify.

Holiday's & Lucky Star's original 7" Edits are not on streaming either.

    Papa Don't Preach - Edit/Fade

True Blue - LP Edit/Fade is also not on streaming.

    Cherish - 7" Edit

    Dear Jessie - Fade/Unmixed

There are a lot of Fever mixes that were omitted from the digital release.

    One More Chance - Edit/Fade

You Must Love Me / I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You - Orchestral Version and the Single Version of You Must Love Me are also not available yet.

ah ok, I thought Finally Enough covered a lot of early 7” edits. Lucky Star was still an oversight thought.

An anniversary version of the first album and also Like A Virgin on streaming like we got for True Blue would have mopped at least some of these current omissions

I had kinda forgotten how cool the American Life remixes were.

Too bad that the whole release was overshadowed by the video controversy…

Would be great to get the withdrawn video officially available on Madonna’s channels at last.

I wish that Apple Music would sort it out and consistently categorise all of these new digital singles under EPs/Singles and not under Albums or (in the case of Nothing Really Matters) under Compilations. It’s messy 😆

  12. While I wait for American Life to drop in my Apple Music, I made a list of digital singles potentially still to come:

    Angel

    Dress You Up

Live To Tell (for 7” edit)

Papa Don’t Preach (unless Ain’t No Big Deal is included on Dress You Up)

Open Your Heart (for 7” remix)

    Who’s That Girl

    Causing A Commotion

    Keep It Together

This Used To Be My Playground

    I’ll Remember

    You’ll See

    Drowned World/Sky Fits Heaven

    Power of Goodbye

    Don’t Tell Me

    Die Another Day

    Hollywood

    Nothing Fails/Nobody Knows Me

    Love Profusion

(And Britney hasn’t released Me Against the Music as a digital single)

And the singles where all the tracks are on streaming already, listed for completism sake / the artwork:

    Holiday

    Lucky Star

    Like A Virgin

    Material Girl

    Crazy For You (1985)

    Into the Groove (1985)

    Over and Over

    True Blue

    The Look of Love

    Spotlight

    Cherish

    Oh Father

    Dear Jessie

The Holiday Collection (assuming CaC Silver Screen single version is included on CaC)

Fever (presumably wouldn’t get this even for the art)

One More Chance (would probably just put You’ll See Spanglish version on You’ll See)

    You Must Love Me

Promos with remix(es) that we’re hoping find their way to digital, as bonus tracks on album reissues or other special releases:

    Buenos Aires

    Skin

    I Want You

    Impressive Instant

    Mother and Father

    Broken

    Love Spent

    Superstar

There’s about 8 or 9 officially released mixes missing.

Most are edits, which to people like me, outside of a club, are the best versions of remixes.

Yes there’s quite a few great sounding but long Madonna remixes that I would have played far more on CD if I’d had a single length remix edit.

The three track limit placed on UK CD singles really messed things up as it restricted how many truly-different-than-on-the-album tracks that we would get even if there were two separate CDs

  14. American Life EP tracklisting

looking at Wikipedia we would get everything listed except Radio Edit and Radio Edit Without Rap

It looks like it’s the original US maxi single that they’re going with?

Did a quick Google for official remixes and all I could only find are some other edits.

    https://madonnacollector1983.wordpress.com/american-life-era-2002-2004/american-life-single/

    American Life
    USA | Promo 12” Vinyl | PRO-A-101097

A1 American Life (Missy Elliott American Dream Remix)
B1 American Life (Missy Elliott American Dream Clean Edit)
B2 American Life (Missy Elliott American Dream Instrumental Remix)

    American Life Remixes
USA | Promo CD-R | no catalog number
    1. American Life (Oakenfold Radio Edit)
    2. American Life (Oakenfold Radio Edit W/O Rap)
    3. American Life (Felix Da Housecat Radio Edit)
    4. American Life (Felix Da Housecat Radio Edit W/O Rap)
    5. American Life (Rauhofer Radio Edit)

What are the other official remixes not on the US maxi single? I saw another comment saying that there’s other official remixes and so I was curious about what else fans would like have liked included here? Or if there was a second follow up digital release for the American Life single :)

  15. I doubt we’d get anything digital this week as they want to promote the American Life EP for RSD on April 22.

I don’t know who is buying mp3s these days, but Warner won’t want the stampede for expensive ltd edn vinyl to overshadow a new opportunity for fans to spend their Madollars on iTunes

I wonder if the RSD EP will ever get released on iTunes and streaming ?

  16. I’d be happy with a digital EP for Angel/Into the Groove as I can’t imagine they’d give us alternate versions of ItG. They’ve never given us the video version with the “good going, stranger” line before so that would be fun. I can’t imagine they’d suddenly release the movie version for the first time on one of these digital EPs, as cool as that would be.

    I think it would be

    Into the Groove (single version)

Angel (radio edit / 7” edit)

    Angel (dance mix)

    Angel (dance mix edit)

The original album version wasn’t on any singles so they might skip that. Burning Up wasn’t on US versions of Angel 7” or 12” and while Shoo Bee Doo and Everybody were on Into the Groove that track was only a separate single internationally. So it’s quite possible that none of those would be included either.

Fingers crossed it doesn’t turn out that the tapes for the mixes/edits of Angel have been lost.
