It seems like Gen X Gays are the ones who understand Madonna. Boomers and Millennials not as much and it makes sense because Gen Xers saw her explode in the 80’s.
Are you gay? I am. I came out in 1993 and the gay community is nothing like it used to be. It can be a hideous existence if you don’t where you fit in.

Madonna has always thrived off of being a polarizing figure.  It's part of her brand.  Sure many people despise her for stupid reasons but that creates conversations about her.....people talk about her regardless.

    Plus this is the truth....

Some girls don't like her singing voice. Some girls find her cold. Some girls are not amused by an artist who entertained the idea of putting on blackface for an album cover. Some girls don't like a white woman who used the N word on their IG, hard "er" or not. Some girls don't think the coronavirus was "the great equalizer". Some girls don't think showing up hours late to shows is cool because "She's The Queen!".  Different strokes for different folks. For a long time, people loved or hated her. Even in the mid 90's it was popular to say you liked her music, but not her. Nowadays a lot of people don't care at all. But you will definitely see an explosion of love, adoration and respect when she exits this realm. Happened to Michael and Whitney. People forget the way they were raked over the coals and treated like jokes before they passed. Especially by certain fandoms........

My friends have seen my collection. They see her all over my walls. They know it is best not to mock me. Luckily my husband supports my Madonna-Riah habit.
Cool thing is, some of my friends feed my obsession by gifting me Madonna items, even if I have it already lol

It's trend. These things come and go. That is why also many so called fans turned on her because she's not "cool" to lke anymore. People like artist they can own, that's why also they love dead artists so much or atists who no longer record or are in the public eye anymore because they won't speak their minds, they won't utter an opinion, they won't do anything to go against the flow. Madonna comes with a lot of bagage and has a huge ego and i'venoticed people with huge ego too hate her like it's their job. Also people LOVE powerful women on paper until they come across a real one and not just one who instagrams herself with that cap.
And Madonna is perfectly aware of that, she toys with them, sadly she spends too much time effing with them than on us, fans. it is something she did all her life according to her, since high school, she goes out of her way to challenge people to love her.

Honestly, gay people are the worst. You could say that Madonna literally "sacrificed" her commercial success when she started supporting the LGBTQ community more and more, yet nowadays she gets hate by many gay people cause they like another female artist, and Madonna happens to be more successful than her. Gays people who hate on Madonna are worse than the rest, cuz Madonna is one of the biggest allies.

I think the gay community can do a little better when it comes to Madonna. But you’re right. It is the LGBT Comm that had stuck by her.
That’s as far as I’m touching this subject.

Just from those post it’s it seems like it will be a very honest film. Both Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman were somewhat sanitized.
I personally like more honest darker things, but the general public isn’t like me.

Absolutely cannot forgive M, or the record label for NOT taking better care of Nothing Fails. One of her best songs ever, with SO MUCH potential. No video, no promo, they just wanted to sweep anything American Life related under the rug and focus on softening her image by going blonde, wearing floral patterns, releasing children’s books and doing an animated movie we all forget... etc.

I was never crazy about Erotica as an album, but for many fans it seems it´s one of her best. Not for me. The confessions era was amazing, but the album was not that masterpiece on the league of ROL or other albums of hers. The interscope albums and Hard Candy were not as bad as many fans are always trying to say.

I think everything in Christopher Ciccone’s book was true because he had no reason to lie. AND if was lying the stories would have been way juicer. ( yuck, I hate the word juicy )
There must be at least a couple gays in this forum that know Christopher.

I think there's another very long thread about this but it does make for good conversation and the occasional death threat on here ? so here goes...
I don't think Madame X is horrible (I enjoy the the fan made and official remixes a lot), but calling it a return to form or one of her best ever? I just don't get that. At all.  I tried....
The SuperBowl (Vogue is flawless), Eurovision, and Pride (Vogue is as always flawless) would have been 100 times more memorable had they been done any other album/ era up until '05, maybe '08.
I'm not one who blames Guy Oseary for any and everything I don't like. But for someone who likes to keep moving forward and explore new things as much as she does, it would be nice to see what a change in that area of her life would bring.
It would be nice if fans realized that you can critique something, dislike something, call out the bullshit AND still be a fan.

She’s more spontaneous now than she used to be on tour. I attended all 3 Re-invention shows in Toronto and one of the nights she had a hard time finishing Papa Don’t Preach. She was laughing and couldnt finish the lyrics and the crowd went wild. I cant think of anything else crazy. Certainly not something like her yelling at fans for smoking in South America.

I think that her work with rappers was completely artistic and legit until 2003 ish. It’s pretty obvious for Hardcore Madonna fans to notice. As Soon As she started working with Missy Elliot, Nicki M., Lil Wayne, etc. it’s become, ummmmm, idk, can we say, reductive?
But seriously, there is that tinge of wanting a younger audience and it’s been pretty noticeable. I love rap, especially 80’s and 90’s rap but it’s not coming off as sincere for Madonna and she does have a history of being misunderstood.
Her collab with Swalee seemed to fit perfect though.

I don’t see anything wrong someone disagreeing with Madonna and TRUST ME,  I love when people stick up for her, because they are far and few between nowadays.
AND. I would never talk shit about M in front of the average person. I 100% have her back.

shes a performance artist ..pop star is so cheap

i didnt say it was disgusting to question her motives i just feel that when her fans jump to a conclusion that she is making a rap record when in the studio with a black song writer etc etc ..that is just low as fuck ..she is not a performing monkey for her fans and as soon as her fans stop believing she is it will be better for them ..they can like it or not - quit listening to her who cares - she will do what she likes as a artist not what her fans expect - i dont feel there was anything wrong with minaj work with madonna but if you dont like minaj then i guess you wont like it ...lil wayne ? didnt he like produce revolver or something so he may have requested to be on the song - do you think she works with rap artists because you feel some of her fans dont like it so she wants to piss them off ? i personally feel she is making a statement with everything she does and its " i will do what i want as a artist " .

Well. I don’t think it’s “disgusting” to question Madonna’s motives because what she’s presenting to the public and her fans is a carefully thought out imagine and she has often put out things that don’t represent who she is, such as the SEX book to Nicki Finn. I don’t think we started seeing her deal with her in this way until 2003.
I also do believe, like you, that she likes rap music, and that maybe she’s does it for her kids because she is so close to them.
Her swallee collab sounded very natural to me. The Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne collabs have not sounded so natural. Madonna also does certain things because people don’t like her doing them and it pisses them off, and for that reason only. When Madona does that, it’s pretentious. She’s a pop star and pop stars are pretentious.
I love Madonna so much more when I stopped believing she was God.

I recommend that anyone who is curious about Niki and Donna, that they watch this hour long concert. The video and sound quality are good and Madonna fans are representing. Niki is a vocal POWERHOUSE and Donna is a hippie flower child still searching the meaning of life. I never realized how much Donna sounds like Cyndi Lauper.
