I love all her promo performances for this album. She really tried to sell it by singing it. Too bad the tour didn't end following this vibe, it wasn't as representative of American Life as it could have been. 

This is one of her best acoustic performances IMHO :

 

Instead, she reacted quickly and went for a more dancey, remixed and revisited trip. Don't get me wrong, I saw the RIT in Paris and loved it. It also led her to one of her defining moments, a famous "shocking M" pass:

Haters thought she was desperate after the album reception went Meh. Bitch, she's Madonna. American Life is finally very important in her career. It reignited her relevancy. Almost every song on the album and remix has been copied in a way or another by someone else afterwards, and still now.

is the obvious 2020 child of 2003's :

(Then, 15 years later, she stuck to her Madame X concept on tour, after almost no promo, and, even though the album hadn't been a hit, I overloved it.)
