Belgian singer-songwriter Paul Van Haver aka Stromae will be the guest of tomorrow's episode of "College Tour", a popular TV show that some describe as the Dutch rendition of "Inside the Actors Studio".  A preview for the episode aired today - in the clip Twan Huys, the show host told Stromae that he had to give him the message that Madonna would like him to come to her house after the taping of the show.  "Stromae starts laughing and says he doesn't have time for that" - Rico, reports - "and then he gets that its not a joke and says: of course!!!  "Made me filled with joy just thinking of the combination Madonna/Stromae and the sick music that could become for the new album," Rico also says, "the shows airs tomorrow evening so maybe more news then".

Diplo will play at the Stereosonic Music Festival in Australia next December and, interviewed by Australian Nova 100 Radio in Melbourne to promote it, he talked about his work with Madonna.

Here’s what he said:"We have finished the work together. The first single has been chosen and it is one of my songs. 5 songs of mine should be on the final tracklist and are in the mixing stage at the moment. "

He added that “the sessions were fun and most of my tracks have a reggae vibe“.

During an interview with The Fader the subject turned to Madonna…

 

You two are working on Madonna’s new record together, right?
Yeah, we have been working on that for the last month. It’s been a lot of fun, definitely a big project. It’s me and Dahi, Diplo, Ariel [Rechtshaid] and Jimbo. I think it’s definitely going to be a good Madonna record. There are moments when you’re like, Oh this is definitely fucking Madonna.

 

Are you guys aiming for something really contemporary sounding with it? 
I wouldn’t say were trying to nail 2014. With most artists, Dahi and I try to approach it from a longevity standpoint. Especially if we’re pitching beats to someone its like, Is this fucking hot this month? Because this record won’t be out for another year. That can be stressful, but the bottom line is like making room for the song, because the song is really what stands the test of time. I feel like right now a lot of pressure to get that single, and get that dance tune. That’s probably the coolest thing about Madonna. She has been doing so many records for so long, it’s kind of irrelevant to try to fit into the now.

“I’ve been in with her for the last month. Me and my friend Blood Diamonds have worked on a good portion of the album. It’s been dope. It’s a new experience for me. Working with Madonna has put me in a new creative space, because I’ve produced a big chunk of the album. It’s not just like one track or like I’m just submitting beats. It’s like we’ve been in the studio together and we’ve been working together. It’s all collaborative. It’s made me realize that I want to be there more and more working with the artists and crafting something together. Making beats and sending them in is cool, but it’s kind of disconnected. That’s something I’m focused on more and more after working with Madonna. That album is supposed to be coming next year. Hopefully, everybody loves it. It’s cool, because it’s so different from what people would expect. People are going to be like, “What the hell?†The opportunity came about through word of mouth. She liked my music and was a fan of my style. She had told me she appreciated the mindset that I take with my music. Most of the records that have come out that I’ve done have been with rappers and R&B artists, but there’s still something alternative about the records. There are other elements and she appreciates that, so it was cool for her to say that and then for her to say, ‘Okay, let’s go work.’ I’m working with Madonna and all I have to do is be myself.â€

Dahi produced a big chunk of the album??? I checked out his stuff on iTunes & its interesting but does not excite me too much.  The combo of him & Madonna could be good though.
