Watching my freshly rip Yokohama Laserdisc right now with bright colors and deep contrast. She is better vocally on this. I ll try to finish the Nice laserdisc rip tomorrow. Those recordings are great. Untouched. Her best concert videos. Difficult to choose between both. Bercelona is too messy ... Fun but messy.

My fave album! Very hard to do, but I think it would be like this... From favourite to least favourite: Secret Garden Waiting Where Life Begins Erotica Words Rain Bad Girl Thief of Hearts Bye Bye Baby Deeper and Deeper Fever In this Life Why's It So Hard Did You Do It? I wanna put all of them at #1

I see her career in stages also: 1982-88: Making her mark: brash pop star, simple, fun pop songs, lots of image changes, amazing videos and performances. Successful in every way. 1989-96: Groundbreaking: More edgy songs/videos and more controversy, less commercial than the 80s songs but more 'artistic' and interesting. Less popular but still successful and ahead of the game in terms of live performance, trends and videos. 1997-04: Songwriter: Mature artist, less 'showy' performances, more focus on the songwriting, singing and musicality. Taken seriously as a musical artist. 2004-06: Back to basics: Re-connection to her pop roots, less serious but still mature. 2008- Wilderness?: Back to simple pop songs, no real clear messages, less songwriting, few image changes, voice reverts back to pre-LAP 'pop' voice, struggle to find her place in the current music landscape, viewed as a trend-chaser...?

You ll have to kill me for me to even start making a mental chart on what comes first and/or last from this out of this world album! Comparing Promise To Try to Oh Father... Til Death Do Us Part to Keep It Together... Love Song to Act Of Contrition... Like A Prayer to Express Yourself... Cherish to Dear Jessie...Spanish Eyes is possibly one of her best songs ever! Its like asking me to name what we need the most to survive: sun, water, air or earth? This is why this album is a masterpiece: each song is part of the whole. One song doesn’t exist without the other. Dont get me wrong each and one song is very strong on its own ( as proved by the singles) but to truly work and bring them to another level is when you listen to them as part of the album as a whole. Lets not forget this is an album inspired by the powers that be. Only Madonna could! lol

It's definitely one of her forgotten gems.

Of course you voice in your 40s is different than your younger voice. It's difficult to reach certain notes. Still I really like the deep sound of Madonna's adult voice. But what changed was the musical direction, unfortunately. We witnessed great arrangements in DWT, RIT and CT. But the great musical quality of WTGT and GS will always be missed. Yesterday I saw the streaming of the Yokohama BAT and in Oh father Nicki and Donna provide excellent backing vocals. Now it's terrible to hear those album vocals and people almost pretending to play.

Definitely Hard Candy for me. I like Pharrel & Timbaland as well - that could have something to do with it!
