Does she have any bad opener though? Her tour openings have always been quite epic. Can't remember a single "meh" one. She even managed to convince us to like "Candy Shop" in 2008-2009 xd

(But I can remember one particular "meh" ending: Rebel Heart Tour with the half-arsed version of "Holiday").

I wouldn't say it's bad but Madame X Tour opener is quite unimpressive to me

  2. Speaking of audio, what about the Madame X Tour? From what I recall, the show seemed to heavily rely on live autotune, judging by the fan recordings we had. However, upon the release of the final video, a significant portion of the show featured her natural voice beautifully. I wonder, did she re-record it, or did they find a way to remove the autotune and extract her raw vocals?

Regardless, I thoroughly enjoy the Madame X Tour audio, except for when she talks to the audience—it doesn't quite hit the mark. Setting that aside, I'd argue it's her best concert audio edit since S&S. While some criticize S&S for its artificiality, at least it's well done compared to MDNA and RHT, which sound horribly artificial. Why does she have such a hoarse voice on MDNA and RHT films? She didn't sound like that during the live shows.

I think since I Will Survive is representing her getting better from this summer, I dont think Take A Bow would be appropriate in that section lol .. that is almost like, lights out, im dead, see ya

I agree. I love Take a Bow but I was actually very satisfied with the RHT performance, I don't even think this song is very performable

Can we take a moment to appreciate the absolute Masterpiece renditions of Into The Groove and Open Your Heart... 😍

I'm so in love with this Open Your Heart performance. I've been waiting for an original version of this song to be performed for ages. The closest thing we got was that 2017 performance at the Leonardo DiCaprio event, but we never got a professional recording of that.

RIght.  In most cases she's singing along with the backing track.  Sometimes her live mic is lower than the backing vocal track.  MDNA tour was the worst with this.  I was hoping with Stuart on board this time, he'd get a better balance.  What he did for Confessions sounded perfect.

Totally agree about the mic situation. Besides I prefer to hear her sing bad over just hearing a studio recording on stage. If I just wanted to hear the album version, I'd put the album on.

Same here, but after the extensive use of live or pre-recorded autotune during MDNA and RH tours, especially on a full show like the Madame X Tour, I must confess that I would prefer to hear her lip-syncing to the original '80s and '90s recordings than that

Yeah, she's singing over the backing track, but you can hear her singing.  Again, a lot of these backing tracks seems to be a way to elevate her live vocals more.  I believe she was singing much of NRM live, but you can hear she was singing along with a backing track which at times was louder than her own vocals.  The same with Everybody.

Yes, and I think it was a very wise choice to have a backing track during the first number. NRM is a bit hard to sing I believe

I can hear her sing on almost every song, backing track or not. And yes on some you hear it better than on others.  But i think none of them are 100% lipped. And i realy don't hear any backing track on Bad Girl, like a prayer, la isla bonita, i will survive, Don't tell me, maybe some backing vocals, but every song have back vocals, its not the same as a backing track, wich means a track is playing along, even if the artist doesn't sing at parts.

Yes, even during Erotica you can hear a few live vocals

Actually Bad Girl does have a backing track, but I agree she is singing live to that song.  And I agree the times you can really hear her vocals, she sounds great. For instance, you could hear her singing live on Ray of Light which is one song I would think for sure she would have relied more on a backing track, but she definitely was singing live to that.

Doesn't Ray of Light have a backing track? I didn't see much of this performance so far

I'm not sure if even her "vocal quality has diminished" is the issue as rather there is so many demands from her on stage, that vocally she's probably better off relying on those backing tracks.

Even though we all recognize she isn't as physically active in the choreagraphy as she used to be on previous tours, she's still doing a lot of physical stuff.  I'm sure many of us 10 or 20 years younger than her couldn't do nearly half of what she's doing physically night after night. I see her crawling on the floor in a few performance and doing that night after night, can be challenging for I'm sure many of us.  She's also seen spinning around in some performances.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I get easily dizzy if I spin around more than once. LOL! There are times I see she's maintaining her balance as well which can't always be easy for a lot of older people.

So yeah, with even the practicalities for this particular show, I can understand her relying on backing tracks.

Yes I saw a clip of Into The Groove and my legs hurt just to look at her moves

yes I dont mind backing tracks either, makes everything sound profesional like album quality. Id take her lipsync anyday, better than live husky vocals.

Many people complain about her 2012 vocals but I do like the way she sounded during MDNA Tour when she had the backing track. Beautiful Killer for example sounds perfect to me

I don't think many are "surprised" by it.  It's some are noticing it very much on some songs such as you pointed out in Everybody.  Like you, many of us can clearly see she's miming to some of these songs.  Sometimes, not in its entirety, but it's clear she's relying heavily on pre-recorded vocals to at least elevate her live vocals.  Stuart made no secret that they are using backing tracks, using some of the original vocals from those songs with a number of these performances. Even with Bad Girl, you can hear a backing vocal playing as she's singing along with it.  I won't pretend I prefer to hear her live organically without the help of those backing tracks, but it is what it is. Like you mentioned, sometimes those whispered or lover vocals for Justify My Love or Erotica need to be mimed as it would probably be hard to hear her if she tried to duplicate them live.

I agree with you, and I would also prefer to hear her singing everything live. However, her vocal quality has diminished over the years due to various factors, so I understand that now she may not be able to sustain an entire show with live singing. Moreover, after a tour during which she sang almost everything with the aid of live autotune, I would rather see her miming to her '82 vocals

  12. I don't know why people are surprised by the fact that she's relying a lot on backing tracks. She has been doing that since MDNA, or even before. I'm totally fine with it, considering she's 65 and doesn't have the same vocal strength as during the Girlie Show/Drowned days. I'm just a bit bothered by the fact that the chorus of Everybody is mimed to the original 82 recording, which annoys me a bit because she hasn't sounded like that for over 30 years. However, I was okay with Erotica considering it's a more whispered/spoken song, and I don't think anything could go wrong with Erotica.

Anyways, there are moments when you can clearly hear she's singing 100% live, like Bad Girl, which was one of the highlights of the show in my opinion

If I could change anything from the show it will be deleting Bob drag queen, and better costumes, some are ok, but there are some thatr are waaay to simple.

I would also delete him, but I'm very happy with the simpler costumes. I was a bit tired of seeing Madonna wearing those extremely layered costumes in shows, like the opening ones for the Rebel Heart and Madame X Tours

  14. I'm completely mesmerized by the show. I wasn't expecting anything like this after the past two tours. Her vocals are on point, the stage is incredible, she looks stunning—finally, she looks like Madonna again. The setlist is full of great surprises, and I have no words to describe how I feel. I cried so much when I saw the first Nothing Really Matters video. The sensation was like, 'Yes that's what you've been living for.' Bad Girl for the very first time on tour, with Mercy on the piano, was the most beautiful thing in years. Bedtime Story was also a highlight for me, and I was not expecting this one. Anyways, each tour has its reasons to be loved, and this one has many already
