A little reminder for the "know it alls" and the "what's the point" crew.

What exactly was the point of these singles, exactly?

Also, no the Immaculate Collection Version of Live To Tell isn't an edit. It's just a Q-Sound Mix of the album version. There is not short version of Live To Tell available on streaming. Also, the 7" Edit isn't even some obscure local or promo only edit. It's THE 7" Version released on all formats of the single.

If there was supposedly a point to release the singles above with only one or NO new/exclusive tracks included, then yes there DEFINITELY is a point to release Live To Tell and Crazy For You.

First of all the Immaculate Collection version is an edit since it’s almost a minute shorter. And it’s much better done than the 7” which sounds pretty choppy to me.
All the EPs you listed have more unique mixes that were not previously available (at least in theory since they fucked up some). And also it’s back when singles went on the release radar and they were producing new streams. Now they don’t.
And I’m not saying it shouldn’t be released. I just don’t get why there’s so much drama over it.
We just got I’ll Remember with promo only mixes!

Oh dear it's all going so badly according to the last few posts of this thread lol

She is on tour - that is the priority and the release campaign is fine

Though I do agree that the campaign is most likely fine I don’t see what being on tour has to do with anything.
It’s not like she was toiling day and night over these releases. And we all know she’s able to focus on other projects while on tour

I'm so happy I'll Remember is on streaming. Now I've listened to it on Spotify I understand why they stuck Why's It So Hard in the middle.

Does anyone know if the vinyl mixes are in real digital quality?

Of course they are. Everything they released so far was as well

There are a lot of sources that are pin pointing some sort of production started by January 30th.  But yes, you are correct that Studio Marker and the ET Interview show Feb 12th was one of the days Borderline was shot.  Still, my point was Lucky Star video wasn't shot before Borderline!  Most likely shortly after if not nearly back to bak. Thanks for the further input on this!  :luv:

As far as I know we have no idea how long she was in LA in February, do we?
The Lucky Star video was undoubtedly shot in one day. Could have been days before borderline…

Borderline was shot shortly before Lucky Star, as shooting started in late January and wrapped up in early February.  I am not sure what you mean by "released by MTV".  MTV was the "go to" for any artist to release their video to.  I'm sure the popularity of Borderline, played a role in the interest of MTV wanting to air Lucky Star when it was available.

The Borderline video was shot around February 12th.
Madonna was on her European promo tour until January 30th

That's why I believe in @Roland Barthes's theory she did this new, multiyear deal with Warner Records only to prevent them from reissuing her material without her consent.

Btw I don't see any "expanded edition" to happen alongside with tour schedule. One or another. I don't blame M for having this mindset. Focus on a thing, then on another.

Btw from horse (or cheval)'s mouth:

To a veteran M fan this sounds pretty evident as of now.

That makes no sense. They were and still are able to reissue all the material without her consent. Only they can’t make any changes. And standard reissues/repressings are still released.

I don’t agree and they would never just sell boxes of separate decades.

So as a whole, it would cost well over $1k and plenty of people wouldn’t buy it.

It’s never going to happen, so none of this matters lol

I do agree with that that it’s not gonna happen. But I was discussing a hypothetical that was presented

  8. 25 minutes ago, BuggedOut said:

I already thought about that, but nobody would buy the last 2-3 boxes

And no one wants 100+ 7” singles. I can see it now, everyone getting up every 4 minutes to flip a record to listen to an inferior sound quality

You’re wrong. The last two would sell the most because the post 2000 singles didn’t get 7”. And the last 7” that had a picture sleeve was secret

The new bomber  is cool, especially the inside! But I would never wear it so I’m not sad I’m gonna get the “poor package” (still angry we didn’t get a special tour book like on the last two tours though).

I assume there will be a VIP tour book that will be mailed instead of given at the venue

Now I'm curious, which inaccuracies would be these?

Claiming the “You can fu*k with me” part was never heard before, when we’ve all heard it for over 30 years in the Orbit Remix.
The claim that all vocals on tour are live with backing singers. In the recordings we can clearly hear the live/playback/live+backing variations. And there’s no backing singers lol

Has it been officially confirmed there isn’t one? I’m confused. I thought someone asked employees at the pop up on opening night and they said it would be coming later?

No. There’s no official confirmation. Especially since there’s gonna be one for sure. I’m pretty sure it’s delayed because a lot of last minute changes to the dates and setlist

Ok oh, so well deserved, I hate her

But during the 2010's, Gaga was still played on radio, TV, nightclubs and not Madonna.

Personal feelings about her aside, she was successful because she was fresh and worked hard and offered a unique point of view that was embraced by young people.
Also there was a resurgence of the music video and streaming started to be relevant. And Madonna wasn’t competitive in either of those areas.
But at the end of the day, Madonna was the winner because of her very high grossing tours at the time.

So what does that mean? That Padam is better than God Control? I don't think so. I love Kylie and her success is indeed remarkable, but after a while, you have to stop looking at the charts and develop your own critical mind.

And by the way, this trend isn't new, Girl gone wild, Turn up the radio, Living for Love or Ghoswtown were 1000 times better than any single by Gaga (her "rival" at the time).

So yes, there is a problem, and that problem is that Madonna has been literally spat on by the media since she turned 50, and no matter what she does, everyone tries to take her down. Let her continue to do what she wants, I'll continue to love her and not give a damn about the charts, the general public or the media. and I think I'm far from being the only one.

What are you talking about? 2012-2016 were not good years for Gaga. She flopped commercially just as bad as Madonna.

Are we sure they wanted to release more singles? 4 is quite usual for an album at that time... sure, maybe they would have released one more if the album had been wildly successful, but I think it was just a situation where they wanted to throw stuff to the wall and see what sticks.

Either way, Nothing Fails is the biggest missed opportunity of Madonna's career. She was sitting on gold. I can't get over it, I'll never get over it, and I hope it becomes a posthumous release one day in the far future.

I’m not sure if you were around for that era but there was no gold in terms of chart success.
Whatever she would have released there was no appetite for anything coming from her and it was an instant flop.
I think we should be really grateful we got so many amazing remixes and the era wasn’t completely scrapped after Hollywood.

Was it damage control by Warner really? I remember reading some reviews saying the album didn't have obvious singles apart from "Deeper" and I somehow agree. It's a great album but didn't have the obvious commercial super smashes the previous ones had.

The 2nd single was supposed to be "Bad Girl" with a super sexually charged video, but "Deeper And Deeper" was rush released after the initial backlash of the album release and the book. They needed old pop commercial Madonna back in full mode... yet she chose to do a super arty video for it.

Didn’t Erotica the single have a great debut?
