They had a complicated relationship. And both were deeply affected by depression and substance abuse.

At the time when it happened, Courtney was messing around with Billy Corgan. Even going on a tour with the Smashing.

They always made it like it was the last drop and pushed him to the edge. But he was already in a really unstable  mental state.

If it wasn't that he probably would be dead later on for some drug related issue.

No she didn't kill him. He died of suicide.

He was very forward-thinking on many issues , just as Madonna

and I have a hunch he may have seen her that way too and may have felt a kind of "kindred spirit" vibe about her at some level imho
