On Reddit there's someone saying that Madonna's team has reached out to "reputable fan accounts" regarding source material.  Do you think that's true/does anyone here know anything about that?  Or do you think they're taking about Madonna asking Rusty Egan and William Orbit for files they have?  Or it could be total nonsense.  :thinker:

It's always been the 2 hour (even 3 hour) time limit on a film that just doesn't work for a story like hers. Too much cramming. Too much left out.

I'd still like to be an extra and can't wait to go see it on opening night and complain about every detail.

It could be done, if it starts in NYC and the first half is the 70s/80s, they could get a lot crammed into a 2.5hr movie. The 2010s/2020s era will be very minimal since nothing much exciting happened during that time.

I'm seeing things related to the first album pop up a lot recently.  There was that VinylMePlease insta video of kids listening to Lucky Star, the report of the First Album as an upcoming CD release at Juno.co.uk, and I just heard Borderline playing in a grocery store in Toronto yesterday.  Even if we don't get anything on May 31, I'm betting that the first album is what's getting re-released first.  Seems like there's some viral marketing dollars already being spent for it.

I don't think Borderline playing in a store has anything to do with marketing dollars dear.

  4. I agree that FEL was a great complication but c'mon guys - in 3 years that's the only major release we've had. It's clear they didn't even work on anything last year otherwise it would have been released by now. I know some fans speculated they postponed everything cause of her illness but I highly doubt they sat on a project this long.

Madonna works at snail pace these days and CLEARLY doesn't GAF about anniversaries so Warner has no choice but to be on par with her schedule.

And? At least in Brazil she would pack a stadium to this, right?

Imagine the meltdowns and bad press she would get if she booked a stadium or arena where she only did songs that a majority of the audience doesn't even know and actual hits. It wouldn't work; the only way this would be successful is if it were promoted as a tour for her die hard fans and booked in intimate venues.

To have a very well deserved rest and then announce the 13th tour asap!! This time to a setlist with mostly deep cuts and album tracks, plus B-sides and unreleased/leaked stuff, PLEASE!!!

That would only work in small venues

QUICK OFF TOPIC: I'm definitely not a Gaga fan, I can't really get in touch with her music or live performances and I neither consider her looks interesting usually (except the infamous meat dress wich was really something) BUT last night guys, she really slayed!

Her dress was itself a show

Off topic indeed. Why are you posting her in here??

The wig was different at almost every show. I don’t know much about wigs but I assume it was being restyled each show.

Well that I know, I thought she had 2 different wigs in the same show (one of the Erotica section and a different (more straight) one for the Vogue section in Rio. But I realized it was the same wig just the curls were worn down. Very Blond Ambition-looking imo.

    OT:

About the audio, the GP is not closely analyzing every frame like we are. The broadcast received good praise, so let's focus on that. Calm down people, the official release will sound much better.

I figured we’d see more beach crowds and general Rio topography and less close ups of fans since that bank paid bucks to put her on the sand. Her regular camera crew and Jonas have shot several regular shows and knew where to stand, having multiple nights at the same venues to do wide shots, close ups etc. This was LIVE, a one shot deal and some of those shots we all know they should’ve gotten had to be sacrficed for many reasons including the time lost resetting after getting that shot or one camera being in the way of another . I’m sure they had to employ extra camera people who maybe hadn’t been with them on earlier shoots in really chaotic situation. It must’ve  been nuts as well as nearly impossible trying to get any of camera people to hear direction through their earpieces in that wild crowd.

And for as many cameras as they had and the massive production, they did a fab job! There were some shots you could tell they were clueless on (especially during Bedtime Story with the projection not working) but for a one-shot attempt, it was impressive. I miss the 80s and 90s when TV would broadcast raw live footage like this.

I always wondered if doing minimal songs from the LAV album on the Celebration Tour was intentional (career retrospective and neither Material Girl or Like a Virgin were performed live?). What if she plans to do a small round of shows, where she performs The First Album and Like a Virgin, start to finish? Sarah McLachlan is going a Fumbling Towards Ecstasy tour this summer where she performs the album beginning to end.

Could be an interesting way to promote the deluxe box sets?

I could see her doing a one-off show for key albums, kinda like Tears of a Clown.

I did not say immediately and throughout this whole tour she looked like she was happy to me. She has always been bitchy nothing new there.

Well in Miami and Texas she was telling the crowd that she's stuck in hotels with no windows and feels trapped cause she doesn't have time to go anywhere. She even said she thought about jumping off the balcony when staying in Atlanta.

I think this tour has helped her get into better shape and hope she can stay this fit for years to come. I want new music and another tour as soon as possible for her. I think touring is what makes her the happiest while keeping her in shape at the same time.

She was depressed and moody during this last tour though, so I don't think she'll be ready to go back on tour immediately after.

You know that they used rehearssl vocals to 'improve' the BsAs dvd and she sounded live enough for the producers to give them something to work. Kevin Antunes said in an interview that the production team wanted her to sound extremely youthful and that he had to go so hard on the vocals that he even had to pitch up what she said (and screamed; i.e. Borderline) during or in between songs because ot wouldn't have matched, otherwise. Please don't kill me as I can't figure out the source anymore.

"You know, I didn't really have a say in that. I approached it in a similar fashion as Stuart did with the previous tours. I took a good rehearsal day and mixed the vocal stem with the soundboard from Argentina but we quickly ran into the issue of her being out of tune a lot during those shows. You need to understand that we were almost at the end of the tour and Madonna's voice wasn't getting enough rest during the south american dates. So, we decided to pitch her speaking voice up a little to mix better with the rehearsals. Then when the label reviewed it, Madonna's tour director requested a clean-up of all the instrumentals we recorded during filming of the footage in Buenos Aires. It was very unfortunate because after that clean-up, everything sounded more studio-esque, which apparently, Madonna aimed for. With our PA system, it was very easy to work on that tour because our sound was very consistent across the board. If we didn't run into issues with the venue or technical stuff screwing us over - which rarely happened, anyway- the show in Berlin would sound just as good as the show in Los Angeles, for instance. I also did a version of the soundboard using stems from shows in which she gave good vocal performances and played it to her but she didn't like it very much. So, at the end of the day, a more artificial sound was preferred over a more rough mix. Sadly, for the audience noise, I had to use stock recordings to get it right sometimes. "

God, what a mess. I always thought Kevin was to blame but sounds like she's the one wanting to mask her live vocals. Ah well, at least Madame X Tour sounded good.

The S&S DVD is a shame, especially on songs like Borderline
The B rolls from Athens and Lisbon are so much metter than this joke.

Some of the songs were poorly mixed, that's for sure. But her live vocals were horrendous for this tour so I'm not surprised she wanted to polish them up for the release.

  15. Now that the tour is over, she will undoubtedly take a few months off to rest before starting her next project. What would you personally like her to do next? New album? Focus on completing and releasing long-awaited reissues? Biopic? Another leg of the tour?

I personally think she should finalize the next 2-3 reissues while supervising during the her break. Approving the remaster quality, packaging, and tracklists. Then focus on recording new music to be released before the end of the year. And to push things further, extending the Celebration Tour into next year featuring a few new songs.
