Well, I had a similar experience, I first listened to Medellin walking home from work. Loved it then, love it now! Five years is too long, we need new music!

I remember watching the MTV premiere special when it was broadcasted and being with my mouth open about how gorgeous she looked in the video. About the song, when i 1st listened to it, i was a bit surprised, but when the "si te enamoro" part kicked in, wow, that was it!!! There was the chorus!!!!. For me, Madame X is one of her best albums, a beautiful inspired work of art, and those amazing videos... She put her heart and soul on the whole project.

It was 5 years ago today that we first heard Medellin on Zane Lowe, and it was released. I still remember downloading Apple Music to listen to it on my way home from work. It got a mixed reception from fans I think but I think it holds up really well, it's absolutely packed with hooks.

It's been totally remade 10 years ago, there's nothing left from the 90's because it has also been remodeled. And the neighbourhood is awful. The avenue  it is on is totally dead and the nearby Champs Elysees are worst than Time Square....i spent my childhood nearby, my doctor used to be in the building next to the Palace but as a parisian i have not set foot in that area of Paris for almost 20 years (last time was because my mom was at the hospital there). It's a tourist trap full of pick pockets and "chavs".

Im sure they would have found 2 back ground singers who's she would also sound good with. I loved the three of them, but im sure Madonna would have had the same succes without Nikki and Donna. And yes they where great together but she's doing fine without them either...

No it’s more to do with her posting racist artwork that leans into horrible and dangerous stereotypes about Muslim people as well as willfully spreading misinformation about an ongoing genocide of an entire group of people.
It is 100% possible to be Jewish and be proud of it while at the same time not advocating for the murder of innocent people. Plenty of Jews, including Jews from Israel, do that every day. They’re proud of their heritage and speak out against Israel’s terrorism all at once.
Amy choses not to do that. Amy chooses to present Palestinans as rapists, terrorists, and savages while proudly championing Israel’s systematic murder of them.
That’s the issue. Especially when Madonna herself has been so vocally supportive of a free Palestine in the past.

"Die Another Day" had great remixes (at least for 2002) and the official video uploaded on her YT account DESPERATELY needs a remaster.

The MDNA Tour performance is one my favorite things Madonna has done. The way she turned the song into this melancholic (almost lament like) piece of music is incredible.
It completely recontextualized the song and I think, paired with Love Spent, describes the feelings for her marriage with Ritchie and its eventual dissolution.
These are all things that I love in Madonna; the constant renovation, the artistic approach to performances and the refusal to just "play the hits".

I'm still too old school and don't stream as much from Spoitify.  I play my own digital files or physical copies.  Also, I still use Youtube to stream most of my music.  I prefer so, being I am not paying for Spotify and the ads every three or four songs annoy me.  With Youtube, I am able to block those ads.
Popping over to Spotify to answer your question.... 721 mins listening to Madonna in 2023.   And the Sorry Remixes by Blond!sh are my most played.  LOL!  I only recall listening to them on Spotify once or twice though.

It's funny i was reminded of this thread today because someone liked one of my entries in it, since 2022 i met an old acquaintance of Pettibone (at a dance music conference i went to for a dj mag) whom told me he absolutely blames Madonna for retiring from music. He thought Erotica was gonna be his Thriller and sell billions of copies and since it did not happen he wanted to redeem himself with her follow up album but she changed direction and dropped him which infuriated him to this day. And i was told by this person that all his friends and peers (like Kervorkian) don't understand this at all. So now we know why he's borderline dismissive of her in interviews.

I'm sure most people on here know my obsession and love for Madame X. I regard it as her best piece of work yet! The music is so inventive and it featured the return of my favorite M producer: Mirwais. I remember listening for the first time and being blown away. I immediately fell in-love with the album. It did strike me as so different and bizarre compared to her past works but that's what made me appreciate it even more. It stands out so much in her discography and she once again served quality after years of writing camps and trend chasing. The music has so many layers, to this day I feel like I am still discovering new sounds in the songs. I feel as though she combined all of my favorite things into one album: politics, electronic, and experimental sounds. I think I will always hold this album as my top favorite!

The staging of NRM is exceptional. The backdrop, the lighting and that ring of light above her is breathtaking. While her performance is minimal and it is just her on stage there is something truly epic about it production wise. And she is presented like some kind of ethereal goddess. But as you say, without tacky gimmicks. It’s one of her best concert openers ever.

Shep. 🙄 How rude! I’m sure he was very embittered when she chose not to work with him beyond Erotica, but I find it extremely arrogant and ugly that he is being interviewed to discuss his commissioned work with an artist as a remixer, but instead tries to inflate his creative self-importance, all while denigrating the source material and the actual artist. Someone needs a hug. It might be subtle, but I second the bad vibes detector.
