Guy Ritchie's marriage breakdown was 'like a death'

Although the 48-year-old director is now happily married to Jacqui Ainsley, 35, he admitted that his divorce from Madonna, 58 - the mother of his sons Rocco and David - in 2008 was tough.

He told the Mail on Sunday's Event magazine: "A marriage breakdown is a death. That is all I can say. Now I just want to say positive things about her. I don't regret being married to her, I don't, you know, not in the slightest.

"She's a wonderful mother and has been very good to the kids, and her new kids, the twins, will have a wonderful education and receive lots of love. No one could say anything negative about that."

@@rebelheart29 he tried to play it off like he was asking for nothing during the divorce but she ended up having to give him a bunch of cash, hence.

But it's nice for him to defend her as a mother, he has done that several times IIRC.

Yea, I know about the $ she had to give him in all. But we really don't know what went on in their marriage and it's really their business. It was really nice what he said about her as a mother when she adopted Mercy he said she would be a great mom to Mercy something to those words.

The difference between Sean Penn & Guy Ritchie:

Sean didn't want any of Madonna's money, though by California law, he could have been entitled to half of her fortune. Instead, he wanted Madonna to keep the entire $70 million her career had generated for her in the three years she was a married woman. "I could have gone any way I wanted." he said later. "There's community property in California. But I would never, even under the worst of circumstances, take a penny of somebody else's change."

U.S. pop star Madonna has paid her ex-husband, British director Guy Ritchie, up to $110 million (Cdn) to settle their divorce after eight years of marriage

...that sum includes the couple's English country estate, Ashcombe, which is valued at about $38 million. The couple's combined wealth has been estimated at about $990 million, but Madonna accounts for most of it. Rosenberg said the couple's west London pub – the Punchbowl – would also remain with Ritchie.

she shouldn't of had to pay him so much $ I don't think she had a pre-nuptial. I honestly hate Sean Pean I know M said he didn't beat her but I think he did, he's also beat up photographers..

Ugh, I can´t stand him. Thank god Madonna got rid of him and became herself again.

And NOW (!) he only wants to say positive things about her. WOW we should be all so grateful ^^

he was always a douchebag to me...oh the shit i faced by fans for saying this when they were still married.  lol

Guy Ritchie's reaction to Charlie Hunnam's comment about Madonna is priceless

Asked by Guy if he would include any women, Hunnam replied: “I was going to say Madonna and then I realised…â€

The director, who is responsible for Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and the latest Sherlock Holmes films, said: “That would get the party started mate!â€

After the commotion involving Rocco, I agree that will take time. Maybe on Rocco's or David's wedding?

Would be good for Rocco, I guess.

Then again, how many divorced people are truly friendly with each other also years after the divorce? I mean truly friendly, not just putting up a front for the children.

Not many, I think.

They will certainly survive all of this.

(And Guy needs to pay some money back to Madonna. Shhhhh. Ok, I'll shut up now.)
