Madonna sparks outrage with “disrespectful†Martin Luther King tweet to promote new album Rebel Heart
Madonna has been branded “disrespectful†for editing an iconic photo of Martin Luther King to promote her new album.

The pop star tweeted an image of the civil rights leader with his face tied up in black rope to promote her new album, Rebel Heart and gave similar treatment to Bob Marley and Nelson Mandela.

Tweeting the image of Martin Luther King, Madonna wrote: “This #rebelheart had a dream!â€

She also posted an image of the late reggae star Bob Marley tied up with the caption: “This #rebelheart sang about ONE LOVE!â€

While captioning the image of Nelson Mandela, the late South African anti-apartheid revolutionary who died last year, with the tweet: “This #rebelheart fought for freedom!â€

The 56-year-old pop star was targeted in several online leaks and was forced to release six songs from the album.

In December, the Like A Virgin star released the songs after 13 unfinished demos were leaked online, including Rebel Heart, Unapologetic B***h and B***h I’m Madonna.

Madge branded the invasion "artistic rape" in a now-deleted Instagram post.

"This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demo's half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?" she wrote.

In another post, Madonna did thank her fans who had not listened to the leaked tracks, and said: "Thank you for not listening! Thank you for your loyalty! Thank you for waiting and if you have heard please know they are unfinished demos stolen long ago and not ready to be presented to the world.â€

One user wrote: “this is disrespectful,†while another added: “Oh… you done f***ed up nowâ€.

Another tweeted Madonna in disbelief: “Is this really what I’m looking at?â€
