  1. I absolutely adore the Music album - the look, the era, the artwork, the style, the promotion, the time in my life... :kissy:

Interesting tidbit: Music ties with True Blue for being the best-represented album in Madonna's tours and era promo concerts. All-but-one track has been performed live on at least one tour era promo concert. Unless I have made a careless oversight, all other albums has at least 2 or more tracks that have been left off tour set lists. (Only Jimmy Jimmy Live is missing from True Blue). This is ignoring TV performances.

Imagine that M got 'her way' and added 'Amazing' to the DWT setlist - then the entirety of Music would have been included across her tour/promo concert set lists  This - alongside her return to the album for TOaC - shows that Music album holds a special place in M's heart.

  2. It would be a fantastic move by WB (with M's close support) to go BACK to 'The Immaculate Collection' - re-release with remaster. And then, shortly after (or even simultaneously):

The Immaculate Collection Volume 2: (1991-2000)

The Immaculate Collection Volume 3: (2002-2009)

Special collector's boxset edition with all the trimmings including a bonus remix set.

Why waste such an iconic, best-selling title and brand...?

Because 4:3 is the original ratio the video was in. You’d lose part of the picture if you put it in widescreen.

But it looks like 16.9 'downsized' to fit 4.3...? It has the black bars at the side and the top/bottom. I thought the letter box box at top and bottom suggest it was produced in 16.9. So theoretically, they could have 'spread' the image to go the width of a widescreen image getting rid of the side bars(?) If it was filmed in 4.3 - it would not have the top and bottom letter box bars(?)

That's what she did with MDNA and Rebel HEART. For MDNA, it even had those weird distorted sound effects from the intro before the church bells rang. And you can even hear the muffled backstage commotion in between some songs as shown on the DVD.

    Lazy AF.

The Live CD version of MDNA Tour is the first main Madonna album release that I refused to buy - for that reason. I got the BluRay. But my Live CD collection stopped at that point. Stunningly lazy and arrogant approach.

  5. The track is nice! But genuinely, I think M’s vocals get lost. To an average listener, I doubt they would even notice the change in singer from Dua to M. This is strengthened by the fact that Dua even lip syncs a bit of M’s part in the video (i see it is meant to be cute but it is just bizarre and a bit confusing)

And why the frig would you get MADONNA onto your track but then not ask/arrange a video appearance...?!? She is THE music video pap star ?

If Dua’s team shied away from having M in the video to make it more appealing to the youngsters, then maybe M should have stayed away.

If M said no to Dua’s request to be in the music video, then why even bother doing the track? In its current audio-only state I think it is pretty much dead on arrival regarding exposure and pop culture gains for M.

The woman was performing a theater tour, with a bad knee. A tour that had an awful lottery program. That had its first dates in every single place delayed or canceled. Everything was a mess from the start. It all ended with Madonna barely moving in Paris without a leg and with covid 19, with her fans praying before each show that she would show up. How much worse could it get?

This is particularly why I can’t wait for a beautiful presentation of the show/tour on home release.

Let’s blow away all those cobwebs and marvel in the wonderful aspects of the MX show ?

    From News of Madonna:

The Wonder Woman soundtrack will therefore be signed Dua Lipa.

It includes 2 featuring: Madonna and Missy Elliot.

Its release date is scheduled for August 7th!

    Normally they are trustable!

    @Kieranyour fears might come true...

My thoughts when I first saw this possible movie soundtrack news:

What I WANT: A new Beautiful Stranger

What we will GET: A new God is a Woman

They looked miserable that night in 2008. It was just for appearance sake. They were already divorcing.

It looks like Madonna just dropped the kids off and left.

In that particular 2008 picture it looks as though M is relatively happy at that moment with the laughing smile - although Guy does seem to be doing his usual tight grasp on her arm. When I said 'this is how I picture these two together', I was thinking more of their physical appearance - and noting how much both of them have aged. Guy no longer looks much younger than M in 2020! And the difference that just 12 years can make.

I've thought more about this over the past couple of days after reading through the recent TOAC thread. When M was married to Guy, she had some fantastic creative and commercial peaks. Of course, the marriage and Guy were not the only factors at this time, but I think that the 'structure' and the discipline that came with the marriage helped to keep M 'on-track', so-to-speak. I am not suggesting that M should have stayed married to Guy for the benefit of her career, but I think the marriage and 'family life' gave her an artistic and professional focus that has been lacking since (both on records and with life on the road).

Speaking of TOAC, it is very revealing that M dug deep into the ROL, Music and AL albums. The focus on Music and AL in particular tells us that M holds a special place in her heart for these albums - and I would, therefore, suggest - those years of her life.

  9. Time and age are such funny things. The photo of smiley M and Guy in 2008 is how I picture these two when I think of their marriage (along with the very regal photos of Rocco's 2000 Christening!)

To see M - and even Guy now - looking so much older is a scary reminder of how time is passing by. They and WE are getting older. Thinking of the iconic looks of M and the associations that I have of her and her image with specific years and eras of my own life... makes me a little sad to think about it.

P.S. Guy and M sure didn't talk. You can be hella sure that the paps woulda gotten THAT shot if they did.

  10. David Bowie made headlines around the world on his birthday in January 2013 by releasing a surprise new song and music video after almost a decade out of the public eye (for 'Where are we Now?'). On his birthday in 2016 he released his Blackstar album (also sadly two days before he passed away). Each of Bowie's birthdays since (and a couple before) have also been marked with small releases.

Bowie certainly set a precedent with the 2013 surprise release (I recall thinking that Beyonce 'copied' the surprise technique with her album shortly afterwards?)

Madonna is in good company with birthday releases ;-)

  11. I found this song hella cringey when the album came out. I’d usually skip it. I always saw Push and How High as the dregs of Confessions. Push doesn’t touch the heights on Get Together!

But I’ve appreciated it a lot more over the past couple of years. I listen to it a few weeks ago and I was genuinely surprised at how much I was enjoying it. It was like a breath of fresh air after the MX year. It’s interesting how some older album tracks can be appreciated a lot more now within the context of the past few albums.

Agree. We can see the Stade de France footage during the whole thing. Just remember the big stage with the MDNA letters on the roof during Celebration :yarn:

You know it’s wrong when any given shot in the MDNA Tour film could be from almost any country in the world ?
