If true, I wonder what her plans are for 2023 then. She doesn't have much time to create a full studio album if she's releasing in Q2 (March-June) like her last 4 releases. And considering she hasn't started recording (assuming and praying Sickick has nothing to do with M15) maybe there isn't a studio album coming.

With the reissues and 40 year anniversary also coming in 2023, it looks like this might be her first greatest hits tour.

Maybe, she has already been recording....

It was a magical time to be a fan. It was hard seeing her bashed so much on everything but so inspiring to see her standing up and not backing down. It was also interesting to see who the intelligent and open minded people of the press/tv were at the time who understood what she was saying and applauded her for doing so. She was on every tv channel, every news paper and magazine, all over the place and everyone had an opinion. The album is my favourite of all time. The videos are some of her best and the photo shoots were perfection. I would not be who I am today if not for erotica. Maybe life would have been a bit more simple if my mind hadn’t been opened the way it was by the erotica era but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I was 16/17 and it was one of the best times of my life.

    To quote Deathproof…erotica forever.

This is beautiful.  Thank you for sharing.  I was actually married to a staunch Southern Baptist and expecting my first child when this album came out.  I was a dad two months later.   It was a tumultuous time as I was struggling with school, work and family.  There was so much hope in the record for me though and it may me dream of things that I had not dared before.  I actually slow danced with a neighbor guy to rain in his apartment.  It felt so taboo but so good.  I was so innocent then.  I was 20 and he was 24 and I had such a crush on him.... Maybe I still do.  Lol. I may be a grandfather of three now but I am living my Erotica truth and married to a pretty cool guy.  I actually came out to my wife about the same time but we stayed together for 13 more years (15 in all).  The conversion therapy did not take and I chose the bathhouse over the church house.  (Actually, I have never been to a bathhouse but I still chose) Haha.  A very special record at a time when it seemed that noone but Madonna loved gay people.  I wanted to be that brave and I eventually got there.

40 years since her first release deserves so much more though- i would love everybody koko performance and girlie show performance remastered on youtube - i will be disappointed if this is just it - it doesn't say much about the future releases i have a bad feeling a lot of fans are going to feel let down by it all because Madonnas heart is not in looking back on her work - she just does not care for these type of things so i think fans who are hoping for some rare demos etc etc will be disappointed and this will include me ...she prob wont even acknowledge it on instagram

We might be getting more.  This is just a Record Store Day item.  Fun but certainly not the "expanded, personally curated" selections to come.

The music industry is based around youth culture. Any one over 30 is largely irrelevant. Of course Madonna is irrelevant to that market. it's not even particularly ageist as such. It's just that demographic is largely only really interested in what their peers are creating for the most part. Always has been always will. What on earth would a woman in their 60's have to interest them. The other and potent revenue income is nostalgia and classic albums. Just look at the top 100 albums there's more old classic records than ever before. She's at a point now where she is commercially spent in terms of new product really, which is why it's a good job the reissues are coming.

Madonna has nothing to prove to anyone older or younger than 30 years of age.  Every single stream and sale adds to her history making career.   She is a Queen.

I dare her to do something as beautiful as the power of goodbye  or Ghostown again. If she is able, then I will recognise I´m wrong and that she is doing what she is doing right now cause that´s the way she wants it.

But as for now, I don´t like her new products anymore, and I´ve loving all them till mid 2010s. I adore Hard Candy, Mdna, and Rebel Heart, for your information. But this is lazy and cheap.

Madame X was terrific too and a lot of beautiful songs.  Try not to be too critical of Madonna having a bit of fun.  She deserves it after 40 years.

I’m wondering why her style in the video is trashy and desperate when she was 47 in the original Hung Up video wearing a leotard having an orgy in a club and humping a boom box.

I get it. She looked younger, she was thin and the track was very gay and eurodisco.  That’s why it was ok and grounbreaking, right? God forbid her doing it at 64 with a fuller figure and TRAGEDY with a reggaeton rework.

I remember critics hating on the Hung Up leotard because they had to admit that it looked fantastic on her.  Lol.  I actually read critiques that said exactly that, even after the Gorillaz live version.

Melancholic, minor key, rousing Madonna songs 🤤

Love all of them except... 30, 32, 34

    Missing for me:

    - Hollywood

    - I Know It

    - Sooner or Later

Sooner or Later was a tough omission for me.  I Know It is gritty and brilliant in that sense.  Hollywood is pure pop magic.  It is among the best of all Preach-Donna's songs because it stays so fun.  :)

No denying that Madonna is involved and writes a huge part of her music. Not sure about the comparisons, though, it depends on who you are comparing her to. Janet? Sure.... Prince? No.

Love Prince... but comparing M to Prince as a writer is unfair.  LOL  Although... her stuff carries a more dynamic range of styles.  He was a one trick pony in some regard.  Every Prince song sounds like every Prince song.   Prince was never about reinvention.  Still love him though and M did too.

    I don't see Bitch I'm Madonna?

I actually love BIM but the Diplo production mutes "Madonna" a bit for me.  4 minutes is another example.  The Timbaland production takes over but I still love it.  It just feels like a remix of a Madonna song instead of a Madonna song.   I certainly loved all live versions of BIM and Madonna seems to love it too.

I was making a joke about the fans always crediting the success to Madonna, and blaming someone around her for the fails.

Madonna has always been more involved than most pop artists in her  craft.   Madonna certainly does deserve the lion's share of credit or critique.  She seems to truly "own" the bulk of her catalogue.  To me, the Like a Virgin album feels the most distanced from her actual person.  Everything else feels very Madonna to me.
