Stevo 6,428
I don't think any of them are ballads. Well in my opinion anyway. 😎😉 groovyguy
sdvsr2fan 140
I think it all depends on what you feel is considered a "ballad", per-say. Ballads don't always have to be slow, mellow tunes. They can have uptempo beats or even heavy rock (Take for example Bon Jovi, Livin On A Prayer). I actually think all 5 could be considered ballads, albeit in different forms of musical genre's. angelamanda623 and null
LikeAMelody 703
I always think of romantic love songs as ballads for the most part. The songs you listed seem more complex to me. The closest one in my opinion would be Miles Away and I do not even consider that a ballad. That is my personal opinion on ballads. Not sure what the official criteria for a ballad is. musicinferno 2,937
They're all ballads imo
PWCCA 2,497
I wouldn't consider any of them to be ballads to be honest, just slower songs.
Enrico 14,818
If they are not ballads, how should they be labelled? They are certainly not uptempo songs, although maybe they are not the typical slow love song ballad. WIFLFAG actually is, although the arrangement is electronic, and the same for Miles Away. But imo all 5 are ballads. The arrangement makes them unconventional ballads. But look at these cover versions:
angelamanda623 320
As we've all concurred, a ballad is so hard to define. But, in my opinion, a ballad is a "pessimistic, sad, depressing thing of nature", that doesn't necessarily have to be anything concerning love. So, for me, only songs 2 and 5 are ballads. akiawayne 47
i think they are all ballads. Mid-tempo ballads.
musicinferno 2,937
To me, ballads are songs that you can't dance to. I suppose Secret has an up-tempo beat but the rest are definitely ballads to me.
