What I am confused about is the “2 notes” thing. People here are saying Music and Into the groove, but Music is 3 beats (dum dum… dum) and into the groove is 4 notes (da da… dee da…) so I’m not sure (or maybe I’m missing something?
to me an iconic 2 note intro should be something like Vogue (with the 2 very long notes from the immaculate collection)?
I think everyone here is taking what Tony - a wardrobe assistant, not a musician - said wayyyyy to literally. I doubt he knows the difference between a "note," a "chord," or a "bar." I think his sentiment was that the show has an exciting start. And that's it.
If you're taking him literally: Into the Groove and Vogue start with CHORDS not notes. Music starts with bass NOTES.
But again - I don't think he's being literal.

She still flies private. In Andy Cohen's book, he asks her if she ALWAYS flies private and her answer was "not always" because it's too expensive to do it every time. But if you watch her Instagram she's posted pics of her and her kids on private jets. And Ricardo has posted similar pictures on jets - I'm assuming accompanying her somewhere.
Paul Kirkland (dancer for RIT and S&S tours) was just on the MLVC podcast and mentioned that when they toured that the dancers were constantly on private jets. In his experience he said that wasn't normal for other tours he danced on like Christina Aguilera and JLo.
I think she flies private when it makes sense for her. And commercial when she has to.

Why are we pitting Taylor against Madonna?
They aren't in competition. There is no gold metal at the end of this "race." Your "team" isn't going to win or lose. This isn't the Olympics.
You can like both. YES - you can like both.
You can also like one. Or the other. Or neither.
But for the purpose of this thread can we get back to MADONNA'S CELEBRATION TOUR ?

In case anyone is still looking for tickets --- the Sept 19 Dallas date has reduced the price on some of the floor seats. Even some of the VIP tickets dropped from $700 to $550.
-
Obviously we won't know until the show begins touring but what do we think the best seats in the venue will be?
I'm seeing the tour 3 nights (Pittsburgh and both Dallas shows) and my tickets are at the end of the middle runway every night - 2nd row, 3rd row, and 5th row center from the end of the runway.
I like being close but I wasn't able to get PIT seats and now they're all sold out. Then the seats near the front of the main stage are astronomical in price. I do see some of the Verified Resale seats in that section coming down off their price though. My hesitation getting seats in that front section though is that I don't want to be turned around looking at her from behind while she's on the main runway.
What part of the stage do we think she'll spend most of the time? Where do we feel are the best seats?

Either way, it must be a huge additional cost to have everyone involved so early on.
The dancers are paid very little during rehearsal times - a couple hundred US dollars per day. They make the bulk of their money once the tour actually starts - a few thousand US dollars per show plus a few hundred extra for travel days.

Madonna does not owe us - the public - any explanation on a private, complicated family matter that is, frankly, none of our business.

Oh yeah, definitely -- I just don't think she's going to be walking through the crowd as some fans were speculating.
12 minutes ago, musicinferno said:Yeah, there's no way she would do that. Maybe a narrow fenced area but that seems inconvenient for her to have to access the catwalks that way.
They've sold seats where a "fenced area" would be and there's no clear path to the side stages so it's not that. Maybe a catwalk above the crowd?

are these rumors coming from other forums or 'insiders' again?
Can we actually post a link to said rumors please instead of idle speculation and gossip
Rumors *ARE* speculation and gossip.
Otherwise they'd be legitimate news. Where do you think we would link to? LOL

One part that was alarming in the article was that she wanted filming to begin on the biopic without a final script written.
I hope you never have to work in Hollywood. A LOT of movies start filming without a finished script.

It was all over the news, he was homeless & asking for a help… apparently she didn’t help him or tried to reach out to him
You have no evidence that she didn't help him. STOP.
Madonna hired him on a film she worked on in the 90's as a "location scout" when he had no experience doing that.
She paid for his rehab at least twice.
You can only do so much and no amount of money or influence can help when someone isn't willing to change and has an addiction.
He lost his mother early on which is hard enough. But then his sister was the most recognizable, successful star/woman in the world. We have no idea what that struggle was like for him or what that comparison can do to someone's mind.
And none of us know the totality of what she did or didn't do to help him.
Shame on you. Someone died. Unsubstantiated statements like this should be off limits on this forum.

His mix of Nobody Knows Me was labeled Part 1. Was Part 2 ever leaked or heard out in one of his sets?
It's still such a weird mix to me. Loved it at the time. But it sounds fanmade and basic compared to his other masterpieces.
Peter made the Nobody Knows Me remix as a private remix for his live sets. It was never originally intended to be released. He didn't have the stems/multitracks which is why it sounds a little bootleg-y. Only after playing it a few times did he send it to the record label who then liked it enough to officially promo it to DJs.

In fact, I just did a quick look at the USA dates on Ticketmaster. Here are the dates with the best tickets availability:
• Denver (night 2) -- PIT tickets still available
• St. Paul
• Boston (night 2)
• Inglewood - a TON of tickets left. Lots on the floor.
• Dallas (night 2)

Isn't everything sold out?
Nope. The three dates I'm going to still have seats left. Some on the floor. Some front row. Dallas night two has a ton of seats available.

i assume they planned the tour back in 2022 (beginning), believe me...
Based off her Instagram: Madonna was still working on the movie in early 2022.
She asked on Instagram on June 7 if her fans would prefer a world tour or a movie. In my opinion, after her audience overwhelmingly voted for a tour, that's when she decided to explore that option and move away from the biopic.
Then we saw the stage layouts and rumors started flying by October.
The tour is still in it's infant stages. As far as we know, no workshop rehearsals have started. Lead choreographer was just hired at the end of December. Kevin and Tony have just recently confirmed they are back.

I don’t think they’d necessarily need a setlist to plan the stage layout? But who knows.
We are still almost 6 months away from the first show. They need the stage layout to determine the pricing scale of the venue and to get seats on sale. There's no need to flesh out setlist/stage choreo/blocking/etc. when deciding on the stage layout.
As we've seen in her rehearsal workshop videos before - she tests out a lot of songs and a lot of choreography before landing on the final setlist.

I think a musical could be interesting — but it would have to be super narrow in the time frame it covered. Like the film JUDY was. What do you do in the theatre or neat to it?

They were never forgiven because of any of those reasons. People mocked Cher endlessly for several years in the late 90’s/early 2000’s until they got used to it and got over it. She has barely changed since then. Dolly was always the butt of jokes for her large fake breasts since I was a child. That’s the only reason I knew who she was. Once again people have gotten used to the way she is and don’t care anymore.
It is different with Madonna because we live in different times, where people can comment all over the Internet and things go viral. She is also a bigger star than either of those women so gains way more attention.
I love and defend Madonna but these comparisons are apples and oranges.
In the 90s Cher was mocked for being washed up. That’s true. She was doing infomercials at 3am on syndicated tv. However, she had a hit with “Believe” and folks couldn’t call her a has-been anymore. Shortly after she became a sensation on Twitter for her irreverence. She hasn’t given anyone much to mock lately to be honest. She’s a tough woman but not in the same way Madonna is.
Dolly has ALWAYS been in on the joke. You may only know her because of her big boobs but she doesn’t shy away from that. She’s in on the joke and always has been. She has a point of view today that doesn’t land her in any hot water because it’s all about peace and love. And good for her!
Madonna on the other hand has been actively pushing buttons since the 1980s. Bring a provocateur is her brand. Cher and Dolly aren’t that so it’s silly to compare the three.

This is a leap.
I think the concern from fans is a change to the usual format. And there is some validity to that given her Pride performance with drag queens last summer. Was that a test-run of the tour? We don't know. We've never had someone announced as a "host" before. If so, some people might not like the change in formatting.
To jump to the conclusion that anyone who doesn't want Bob there is racist is a stretch.
By the way - I'm not a huge drag fan. But I think Bob is great. It'll be interesting to see how they are woven through the show.
