  1. We would get a washed out and prettyfied version of the real deal. I realize that we can't get the truth from anyone other than her, and she can choose to conceal it. Biopics are the worst - I'd rather have 10 directors each make a short film highlighting a particular event in her life and release that instead. Something fun and experimental. Bohemian Rhapsody was mediocre at best.

  2. Calling people with valid complaints "bitches" is really gross. I understand mixing issues with the first 6 tracks, but the other 18? Yep, maybe it's the way modern music is produced, but I never heard such issues with Ariana Grande's music. Or most other generic tracks on Spotify. You just have to listen to the clarity of "Bedtime Stories" to notice the differences. Or even "American Life" of "Confessions..." I gotta be honest, many issues came from Madonna's one-take vocals. An example of this is "Inside Out", one of my favorites. Very very sleek instrumental, ruined only by Madonna's rough vocal. There's even a demo artifact in the middle-8, when she goes "I wanna love you from the inside out" in that whispery tone, you get like a rouch crunch fading to silence, which you can recognize from the demo instrumental.  Believe it or not, that's literally coming from her headphones amplified via a compressor. You know what a simple fix would've been? A damn re-recording of the vocals, that's what! And that's only one example.

Also, acting like a Madonna fan could resist any type of leak is... rich. What are we supposed to do, play dead and not listen to the Holy Testament? Even if it's one of the lesser chapters.

  3. Yeah, I wouldn't exclude the occasional success after 2007, but that's sort of my last cut-off point for Madge in terms of general, top-of-the-world type of success. She'll always be a successful album and tour artist, but in terms of the general public and a part of her fanbase, that's where it started slipping. For example, I'm still a pretty devout fan and I frequent this forum frequently, and yet, I wouldn't say I wholeheartedly love her work since then, it was always a mixed bag (JUST MY OPINION). Once again, I'll reiterate that "Rebel Heart" had a lot of, well, heart in it, but it wasn't commercially successful.

  4. Ugh, "Celebration" makes my blood boil. Someone asked about how many CDs would all of her singles use up... Well I made a topic for that specific thing (with download links!), and it turns out that we need five discs for all of her singles, including the "Evita" stuff and the occasional regional single such as "Spotlight". Compilations aren't just for non-fans, we fans enjoy them too, and that's precisely why the fuck-up hurt so much. A casual might not notice the errors and glitches, but someone who's waiting for the original single version of "Like a Prayer" to finally take its rightful place instead of the Immaculate version will be waiting for a long long time.

  5. I think she was beyond beautiful and reached hear peak in the Erotica-Bedtime Stories-Something to Remember era. So what if "she looked like a middle-aged woman"? Not in my opinion. As for Evita, yeah, she was definitely too old to play a 16-year-old (which was also a part of the movie!).
Yeah, she aged. Big deal, it was all normal. If we really have to discuss her looks... She kinda started looking "manly" after the "Ray of Light" era (many pictures from 2001-2002 illustrate what I mean), which she started fixin' up with plastic surgery. Then she lost a lot of body fat after "Confessions", and we got the skeletal "Sticky & Sweet" look. She "fixed" that as well with new cheeks a year later, and now I think she looks amazing for her age. Aging, cosmetic procedures, whatever. I'll always love her.

This is a controversial discussion and I feel like my remarks might be sexist as well. I apologize, English is my second language and sometimes I feel like I can't express myself properly.

  6. Funny to think how we're only 3 years away from the 40th anniversary of "Everybody". Surely we're long overdue an extensive reissue campaign? Sad we had another one pass us by, and this was a great one. Honestly, I wouldn't even care about them releasing it for an anniversary, just release it whenever.

  7. Rick Nowels wrote four songs (and that's by generously including "Drowned World" which he demoed), let's not get ahead of ourselves. Yes, you might get a vague "Lana" vibe out of these demos, but I highly doubt Mr Nowels even came close to this album after the initial sessions. It's just fan fiction of putting Madonna and Lana in the same constellation somehow. This is coming from someone who's sort of an ex-fan of Lana, so sorry if it's a bit jaded. I do admit those three songs are very strong, and "The Power of Good-Bye" is one of my favorite ever tracks. So yeah, I would love him to write something with Madonna again, but I wish she'd stay away from Lana's one-trick pony aesthetic and sound as much as possible.

  8. There's really no need to really discuss this. She is a producer in a certain sense, but there is the side of technical know how, and also wanting a sound of someone else. If she produced her own records all alone, it would get stale pretty quickly. I'd say she's a fairly proficient musician, but I don't think she would be able to handle most of the aspects of production on her own. It's not a thing you learn once and you're done - just like programming, you get hardware and software updates regularly, and who should really bother with it all when you have other creative people to help you out? So yeah, no one is saying this as something bad, I understand if she's not always in the know.

from the top of my head. All excellent.

  10. One of Madonna's best albums and eras, the beginning of her Imperial era inbetween the 80s and the 90s. The next in line to get a remaster at this point. Will the stars align for us this time, and is there a possibility we'll get something more than an Instagram post? Fingers crossed, but until the time arrives, let's post our appreciation for this great album!

I might cook up a deluxe tracklist later, for an ultimate edition of sorts. I used to hate doing that, but 30 years later, this album deserves it!

I think "Living For Love" is great but the video was disappointing and I think overall "Rebel Heart" would've been a better choice for the lead single.

I've always thought "I'm Addicted" would've been great as the lead single from MDNA - it's got an edge to it and is a great track.

    Perfect opinion is perfect.

Also, I will not take any "Get Together" slander anywhere, when it's clearly one of the best tracks she's ever recorded. Whoever disagrees, get taste please.

Madonna is really a rebel with heart. She inspired millions of people to be open minded, to accept others. She also exposed the hypocrisy of organized religions like the Catholic Church and inspired people to find their own divinity inside of them. Artistically there will never be an entertainer as controversial and yet so successful as Madonna. #factsarefacts

Sorry, but this reads as a bit of a naive view of both the world and Madonna. Madonna isn't rebellious anymore. She's just like all other celebrities, concerned with making money and looking young. Nothing rebellious about that. I might hate Björk's new direction soundwise, but she's at least trying to move things to new places. Madonna might want to change the world (starting with Malawi), and yet, she was indicated in the Panama Papers for stashing money offshore. Catholic Church still sucks, and everyone knew about the hypocrisy before and after her. Kabballah seems to have been a 00s fad for her, she doesn't really mention it anymore, perhaps thinking we're too dumb to "get it" or something. She seemed to spend her night reading the Zohar, and yet you've never seen her mention her books on Instagram. I might agree with you on the last part, she really is a one of a kind controversial entertainer, but her blade is dull at this point. A truly provocative thing for her to do at this point is create an all-women music festival, featuring African artists, featuring women older than her, something like that. Empower someone other than herself, I guess? She's human, and the thing you've described seems a bit too imaginary #opinionsarentfacts #thiswasanopinion

She deserves my love and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for her support of the gay community in the late 80s when we needed it the most. She deserves love for adopting her lovely children, and building hospitals. She deserves love for the good music she's given me - the bad will be forgotten anyway. She deserves love for the wit she used to flaunt. What she doesn't deserve is being treated as a flawless creature, since it's unfair to both her and her fans.
