I don't know what you gays stay on about regarding the "errors" of Celebration. Do you listen to it on something other than Spotify? I've listened on Spotify a million times and never noticed anything off. Sounds great.

There were a lot of errors on it. Some were fixed, some weren’t. No idea about Spotify as I don’t listen to Celebration ever.

What about if they grab Pettibone, Orbit, Mirwais & Price and ask them to revisit and edit the hits according to Madonna.

I'm ignoring other producers because I'm thinking about some new visions but respecting the originals. And these 4 are the strongest and more creative.

That would be something interesting.

The Immaculate Collection is the best in my opinion. One can see the effort and dedication that was put into this album and that we see demonstrated in many details such as not including the original versions (as most artists do) but slightly/radically different versions to give a touch of originality to this compilation, the chronological order in which the songs are presented, two unreleased songs whose quality is at the same level as any of their classics, the booklet that comes inside with a special photo session for this album, the Q Sound which provides a totally new experience for the listener, etc. Details probably insignificant for some but for us perfectionists they are extremely decisive in determining the excellence of a product.

In conclusion, The Inmaculate Collection overflows with quality wherever you look at it. I wish I could say the same about the following compilations but I can't. Something curious because surpassing this compilation is not that difficult, much less in these times, but perhaps it is all about recovering that motivation to be the best at everything and not simply launching a product motivated by fulfilling a record contract, by inertia or simply to sell at all costs. When that changes perhaps The Immaculate Collection will finally be surpassed.

In terms of iconcography, sales, music history, and the absolutely perfect introduction to who Madonna is, and why she is the one and only TRUE "Queen of Pop" - The Immaculate Collection.
Obvlously. It's perfection. Even the new mixes and Q-sound give it a unique quality that I adore. There's a reason why it's one of the biggest selling greatest hits collections of all time.

For the general public, casual listener, and those who want a more career comprehensive collection - Celebration (2-Disc).
It may have some flaws, but overall it's a fantastic collection. Personally, I have very little issue with it, and it's actually the hits collection I listen to the most...especially when listening with other non-Madonna fans. It covers all the bases. (And I love the artwork too). It's also a perfect gift item for someone wanting to add M to their overall music collection.

For the more passionate music lover, and the growing younger fan - Finally Enough Love (Deluxe Edition).
Covers her entire career until the present, and solidifies why she's the queen of the dance floor and the dance charts...as well as her half a century deep connection to dance culture/music/and the power of the remix.

Honorable mention - for the ballad, chill lover - Something to Remember.
Obviously. Especially for showing M's strength in songwriting, versatility, emotive singing, and that she is a legit musical artist.

And for exemplifying the magic of the 80's dance floor - You Can Dance.

So @WokeUpInMedellin is just deaf then?

My theory is that as he said he is not 'old' so he is used to listening to the butchered version from Celebration instead of the album.

It's a tricky one because all the glitches and breaks in the song itself.

I personally never noticed until I pay attention to it, but I also never pay attention to listen to Celebration itself as an album

If truth be told there was actually more input from Madonna around Celebration than the IC. Four songs recorded for Celebration were released in some format and both singles were performed on MDNA and the former showcased on S&S2.

Madonna ducked out after Justify on IC and Warner UK resorted to reissuing Holiday, Holiday Collection and Crazy For You to generate promotion. The Immaculate artwork was made from reused photos from the Blond Ambition tour book. At least Celebration had a specialist commissioned artwork by a famous artist.

That’s just the tea. Are there even any interviews anywhere if Madonna promoting or speaking about The Immaculate Collection? I genuinely can’t think of any.

Any hits album released at your controversial and commercial peak with a headline grabbing video like Justify is gonna be more essential and in the moment. The facts remain that Celebration Is the Immaculate minus Rescue plus 19 more hits. Released nearly 20 years later. Who ever thought that would be possible in 1990 let alone 92-3. Celebration is a hell of a flex and in truth contains four of the songs many wished has been included on IC.

Everybody, Burning Up, Dress You Up, Who’s That Girl.

Honestly I’d it had included shorter edits ( no one needs six plus minutes of Holiday).

True Blue, Deeper & Deeper, The Power Of Goodbye and Give It 2 Me instead of Miles Away it would pretty much be perfect and hugely comprehensive.

I always thought that TIC was a complimentary side to the Blond Ambition, considering they use similar mixes and for the same reason the photos. Bundled together with Justify My Love , MTV appearance and the coming Truth or Dare. For me it felt like it was a natural moment of celebration of growth and presence on her time. It was'nt necessary needed to promote it.

In a way that's how I feel now they are repressing this compilation while she has the Celebration tour, they work well together.

She promoted Celebration more because it needed it.

TIC sold itself on the JML video, the BAT, TOD and all the Madonna hype of the time. The cover for TIC was specially designed too by an artist. Mr Brain Fart being famous actually did nothing for Celebration as it just appears to be a forgettable rehash of Warhol’s Monroe.

And the point of excluding those singles you mentioned was to keep it concise and that’s one of the reasons why TIC remains to this day her most famous and loved album.

Thats exactly what it was. When TOD came out they even added a sticker.

I realized I'd been listening to the GHV2 Remixed far more often than the GHV2.

Even with that boring Calderone ROL mix is more exciting as a compilation

Whats the general consensus about this ?

I’ve never listened to that as an album. But looking at the tracklist, too many dubs.

To be fair with "Celebration", it's true Warner did an amazing marketing campaign for it, I remember it was everywhere when it was out: press, physical ads, digital ads, all covered. They invested a lot with that release (marketing wise). And she personally did "Rolling Stone" (an interview looking back wasn't that usual for her back then), Letterman and a couple more.
