  1. Was really hoping the beginning wouldn’t get cut last night, but alas it did. However I still really enjoyed it, my first Madame X show. I’ve got tickets to one more show, which is the first of a two consecutive show run this time (rather than the second) so if she is alternating hopefully I’ll get the full show next time. Saying that, I still absolutely loved the show. She was genuinely funny and seemed in good spirits and didn’t seem too badly affected by the injuries (apart from having dancers in hand to assist her up and down stairs - why such a large percentage of the songs still have stairs built into the choreography is beyond me!! They’re really not needed for the most part). As many people have said, Frozen is spectacular. Her vocals really shine though, as they did in the Fado song and Like A Prayer also. Hopefully I’ll get to see God Control and Dark Ballet next time. Towards the end of the show in one of her chats about James Baldwin she actually said along the lines of “as I quote... well, sometimes quote... at the beginning of my show” and looked kind of awkward/embarrassed in a funny way. She’s definitely aware of the situation, it must be for a reason that it’s getting cut for some shows.

  3. I love Debbie and how she is so supportive to Madonna. Madonna’s longtime pal Debi Mazar thinks the performer’s current boyfriend, Ahlamalik Williams, 25, is “lovely” and the couple is “sweet” together. Madonna’s longtime pal Debi Mazar thinks the performer’s current boyfriend, Ahlamalik Williams, 25, is “lovely” and the couple is “sweet” together. The 55-year-old “Younger” star told Page Six that Madonna, 61, is “a fighter” and “doing really well” despite being forced to cancel 10 dates of her current world tour due to injury. “She’s strong and she has her injuries but she’s really trying to take care of her body. I talk to her regularly like, ‘You’ve got this, girl’ … I support her and I love her but it’s a moment where she has to listen to her body,” she told us at the opening night of “Medea,” starring Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, at BAM on Thursday. Madonna resumed her tour earlier this week in London after canceling dates in Portugal and the UK. Mazar is also making a huge life change: The “Goodfellas” actress is moving to Italy full time. For years, Mazar, her Italian husband, Gabriele Corcos, and their daughters, Giulia and Evelina, spent part of the year at their 15th-century home outside Florence, but it’ll soon be their permanent residence. “I’ll be here for work but I’m going on a new adventure,” Mazar explained. “I have a wonderful home and I feel like this is a moment where I want a new adventure. I kind of change my life up every 10 years, I’m a gypsy. I want to work in Europe. I really want to work on European films and television. I just feel at this point in my career, I want to be more international.” Other celebs at the opening night were Jessica Lange, Edie Falco, Peter Dinklage, Rami Malek and Paul Rudd.

  4. She should do ‘Crave’ acoustic or album version instead of Tracey Remix. She can sit down ??

Yes, when i heard about the shortened show i became very stressed, thinking please god, not my show, not after i paid all that money etc etc. Sadly, it did happen. Not helped by the slightly annoying family in front of me who from what i gleaned from their chatting, got free tickets. Glugging beer and asking if she was doing the old songs yet!

  9. This is a FAN. This guy's energy and approach represent for me not only a fan but a person who loves madonna deeply. Look how cute is the end. She's also very happy too : )

  10. Bad Girl is one of my most favorite songs and it’s strangely neglected ? Yes, I would’ve wished for some actual directional efforts to make the spy persona thing stand out and get fleshed out, but as you said, it was nothing beyond an eye patch and and a trench coat, sadly...

  11. Apparently it just started with the Madame X manifesto then goes straight into Vogue

I must admit, I’d be quite content to miss Dark Ballet and HN, but losing God Control is a pity. Either way, this is now the Madame X concert lottery.

  13. Yup. The show in itself is a good show, but I don’t think the tracks sit very well with each other and the pacing is bad. It’s like only the Fado section is designed as an actual “section” even though I dislike most of the tracks and the aesthetics in it, but 3/4 of the first segment was gone, American Life felt really cheap and low budget, Vogue was a terrible way to start a show about Madame X not to mention the mediocre choreography. I Don’t Search is good, though the excessive use of typewriters is off-putting, then the interlude of the coffin after American Life was too simplistic compared to the greatness of all her last interludes. After the Fado section, it feels like cut bits and pieces. Rescue Me interlude is uninspired and too simplistic as well. Frozen is outstanding, and it could’ve had a follow up performance with that same gorgeous outfit, but no, cut into Come Alive then cut into Like A Prayer which is among her least inspiring performances and then I Rise is like alright, though I don’t get the choice of outfit. It’s alright. But not her most memorable closing track. So many songs could’ve fit the Madame X persona and theme and fleshed her out as an actual secret agent traveling around the world and experiencing cultures could’ve made the set list: God Control, Easy Ride, Why’s It So Hard, Bad Girl, Die Another Day. X-Static Process, How High, The Power of Goodbye, Nothing Really Matters..etc. *sigh*

I wish id been informed of this prior and been offered a refund or partial refund. Absolutely gutted. The wait for her to come on and realising what was about to happen was so unbearable, a very unpleasant experience. This was my one madame x show and purchased with borrowed cash. What a disaster.

  15. It's pretty clear to me that she can't do the first act (the most demanding for her body) two nights in a row. It's not a decision they make 5 minutes befeore going on stage because they need to re-program lights, projections, music cues etc. So it's not cut because she's late. Crave was cut for the same reason, but it was at the end of the show when she's probably very tired and tha's why it's now out for good. Also she doesn't cut the Polaroid and chats parts becasue it's when se can rest a little. WAKE UP, SHE'S INJURED AND IN PAIN. And can we please stop saying she cut "Papa"? She never did it in Europe, it was a politica perfomance for America. Same for Sodade, I was sure she was going to do it only in Lisbon after they cut it in America.

  16. Like at least cut the chat section, cover songs, Polaroid and oldies, not the show opener. For a tour that’s called Madame X Tour, she should at least keep the song that defines the Madame X era and the most loved by fans, which sets the mood for the show, not waste too much time on chatter or Welcome to My Fado Club medley or that other cover...

  20. Yeah I totally get you. There was a couple in the row in front of me in the stalls who were so drunk and loud and annoying. I just kept thinking, you must have paid so much for these tickets are you’re not even paying attention! People getting up to use the toilet too. Wish everyone would just sit down and concentrate

Her reference to the cut start actually increased my annoyance! I think if if id been surrounded by like minded fans itd have been a better experience. The married couples around me I dont think realised what had happened. I always get too affected by what other people are doing at concerts. My madonna love is a private thing! ?

  23. Oh my god the timing of this post, lol. Someone competent please take over her social media accounts, please dear god i beg of you. Didn't we suffer enough when we had to endure her fever dream-esque postings during the Rebel Heart era?

She's probably late because she's in pain on the second night and starting as late as possible to meet the curfew while delivering the parts of the show she plans to and feels she can handle. She's clearly prepared to go straight into Vogue with the outfit and all though so it's not a random decision just because she's late. The first part is one of the most physical parts of the show. God Control: M dances at center stage and climbs up the stairs to the center for "a new democracy" and exits through stage door (since there are no elevators, assumes she climbs down the Batuka ladder backstage again) Dark Ballet: M starts reclined on bottom steps of stairs, then M climbs onto piano and tussles with dancers near piano (even though this whole part is play acted, it's very physical and can obviously be painful if they interact with her incorrectly); finally hauled off piano by uniformed police then put in circular window Human Nature: M does handstands and splits inside circular frame

This is exactly what I am worried about for this Saturday. Sorry that you had this happen ? It would affect the whole experience and cherished memories. Irrespective of what anyone says or complains about regarding posts that relate to disappointment, and no matter how fantastic the rest of the show is - your experience is genuine and honest. Thank you for sharing.

Madonna changing the show with something that was not planned and rehearsed? What about her artistic integrity (that does not exist when it comes to cutting things...)?

  39. Has anyone considered the late starts may be because she’s in physical pain and can’t even sit down sometimes? And does 6 hours or therapy everyday? This could have been the case in past tours too. We know her shows in the past were physically demanding. She may have been dealing with injuries longer than this.
    2 points
  40. Yeah! Same here just for her to remove the wig and do the True Blue pose and look at us! Love the hair here and then it became more wavy and fuller in other videos.

  41. I do think what I thought of Madame X was not what ended up being in the long run. With Medellin, you expect a long arch storyline that would have continued with every video or connection but it didn't continue. We were spoiled with video clips, remixes and a lot of continued interest in her work again that started again with Rebel Heart. The amount of characters, images and footage that was never expanded upon. Unless she never meant for it to be anything other than a costume, I didn't expect a visual album per say but that the singles would coincide with the story of the Madame X character, how she lost her eye, how certain songs pertained to the story. Liz Rosenberg is definitely missed when it came to handling the press and media after every controversy or backlash rather than Madonna doing it herself.

  43. Well I am somewhat new to this site and I have a job. So I can't have over 1000 posts immediately, maybe one day. For claiming to "not stop anyone from sharing disappointment" you seem to be upset that I only have 2 posts and I'm joining in this conversation as you feel its "odd" that I did so. If not, then you wouldn't have pointed it out. So I guess I'll go back to lurking and not post here anymore. Thanks

Gosh, yes, like a prayer was quite flat and i dont mean the vocals. It had everyone clapping along of course though, cause its like a prayer. Maybe you should help her with her next setlist? The fan show? She'd never do it. Generally speaking, i like that she does what the hell she wants and i enjoy it on its own merits. On the subject of the absent opening, how does she enter the stage in that performance? Imagine Girlie with no Erotica, Blond with no Express Yourself!

  46. 'Ugh I imagine it now... The lights go down in the stadium....and then... "The thing that hurts the most...I decided to call my record Madame X....Madame X is a dancer...a head of state..." Video goes off -- "What are you looking at" Vogue intro, followed by the following setlist: * Vogue * Human Nature * Future (W/ Quavo) * Welcome to La Isla Fado * God Control / Like a Prayer But seriously, what would the Madame X Halftime Show have looked like if this had been the promo album?

  49. And she started with Vogue again, cutting God Control, Dark Ballet, Human Nature, clothes change segment and beginning immediately with Vogue... *sigh* She was late. She started after 9:00, at around 9:10-15. Security said that she has to finish by 11:00 so it all depends on that, so apparently fans will indeed pay for her tardiness... Also, Crave is gone too and somebody shouted CRAVE before singing Future and made a funny face about it ? Great rest of the show and she held my hand, so YAS!

  50. Ray of Light is my personal favorite. It’s so influential, unique, cohesive and deep. It was the album/era that really pulled me into wanting to listen the rest of her discography. Such a beautiful album. COADF is great and it had songs that were very popular when I was growing up. LAP is one of those albums that I respect because I know it has a lot of meaning to other fans, but it’s just one that I never really got into myself.
