Yes. But what are the differences in the edit?

The Celebration version is a variation of the Immaculate Collection remix without the QSound effect. It’s very similar to the 7” edit but with some added reverbs and effects.
It’s basically the Shep Pettibone remix of the song

Special effects, mixing etc aside, TIC+Celebration version is the same as the original 7" though, right??? Hence it should be labeled as such on the new digital release...

I can't find the playlist on her Spotify Profile.  I've only been able to link to it from the link from here.  So possibly, they are still working it out. What's interesting is they added "Borderline", skipping "Holiday", "Burning Up" and "Lucky Star" (depending on where you live) were all released before hand.  But then again, "Borderline" was her first top 10, so maybe that is what they are banking on to hook people?  Who knows?  I say we give them to the end of the week to see what happens.

And does this mean the HD version of the video is coming?

I couldn't find it on her profile either but it came up in a search.

Fun times with easy, accessible rollouts.

The Immaculate Collection version is a remix based on an edit of the US Remix.

The Celebration version is an alternate version of the Immaculate Collection mix.

The 7” is a polished (slightly remixed) edit of the album version

No because they’re different.
It’s like saying that the Like A Prayer 7” Dance Edit and the TIC version are the same.

The correct title for it should be Shep Pettibone Edit

Hmmmm, now I'm even more confused. Those 2 versions of Like A Prayer are totally different structurally. From what I can tell, all of the short versions of Borderline (3:58 or 4:00) on the original 7" single and on Celebration / TIC are the exact same structurally, but just with different reverb, delay effects on some of the instrumentation... :thinker:

We're talking about three different versions here:

1 - "Borderline": Original 7'' Remix/Video Version (1983)

An edit of the Extended Dance Mix, by Jellybean too, as he was credited on it:

2 - "Borderline": Original Q-Sound Mix for "The Immaculate Collection" (1990)

A remix of Shep Pettibone for "The Immaculate Collection".

3 - "Borderline": Alternate Q-Sound Mix for "Celebration" (2009)

Similar to the original 7'' edit and probably an alternative Q-Sound version of it made by Shep Pettibone back in 1990.

---

1 and 3 are similar but not the same. The should be merged on Spotify in streams, cause they're basically the same songs, but they should be tagged differently. To put the "Celebration" version as the "7'' Remix" is not correct.

Something must be f***ed up on Warner's database regarding "Borderline" and its versions cause they're have always been issues with this song on the digital age:

- The Extended Dance Mix/U.S Remix was used as the Album Version on "Madonna" on digital for years, until yesterday.

- The actual Album Version has always been part of the digital version of "The Immaculate Collection", instead of the proper "Immaculate" version, but tagged as "Remix". The original 1990 "Q-Sound" version of "Borderline" has never been released on digital stores and streaming.

- For "Celebration" they used an alternative Q-Sound version of the song instead of the original 7'' Edit or the original "Immaculate" version.

- Now with the "Borderline" single tags are a mess again, and different between platforms:

Spotify tags:

01. Borderline (Remix)

02. Borderline

03. Borderline (U.S. Remix)

Rest of the platforms:

01. Borderline

02. Borderline (7'' Remix)

03. Borderline (U.S. Remix)

It’s still listed as the us remix on the album version for me but the length is the regular version.
mess.
In some ways I think any version of any song should have its play count.  attributed to the original version. It should still log the plays on each individual track but the version chose as the sole original should reflect that times that song has been played. Maybe with a true reading if you hover over the track.

Random... They've added basic "music videos" on her Apple Music page for Into the Groove, Gambler, and then that new Holiday moving artwork video.... 🥴

Kinda weird. Like why would you listen to it in video form when you can listen to it right there as a regular song. IDK.
