It is now 26 months since Warner Music Group excitedly announced “a career-spanning partnership” with Madonna that will see a “multi-year catalog series”. Number of studio albums reissued since that announcement? Zero! We’ve had bits and bobs: ‘Erotica’ picture discs, Record Store Day releases that feature remixes of tracks from American Life, and most notably Finally Enough Love the mildly interesting best of/remix collection from 2022. The sloth-like pace has been frustrating. Madonna and Warners have been guilty of playing with their food and they need to get stuck in. They shouldn’t have missed the 40th anniversary of Madonna’s debut album but surely this will finally emerge in 2024. Only when we get an album box set can we judge the campaign and ascertain if “personally curated by Madonna” is a warning or a recommendation.

If one is looking at just re-issues from this deal, I can see why some are frustrated, but obviously the person who wrote this is only focusing on just the re-issues.

Got excited seeing posts on this thread then ...oh

Her debut deserves recognition like it's her only album to ever miss out the top 5 it deserves a boost and with vinyls CDs and streaming and the 80s synth sound popular again and dance pop we need the OG back the originator by the GOAT with people raving about Taylor swift and Ariana Grande using sybthpop and electro sounds ....we need a showcase of the debut album era for sure just imagine Warner could really utilise this very very well

That's right I mean synthpop is trending again thanks to Taylor swift, the week d, Ariana Grande....might as well re release remaster and promote the album that kicked it all off over 40 years ago by this point 

It just made sense to me to tie it into the tour and likely give it a chance to top album charts the debut album deserves it!

We received many album reissues including MDNA and True Blue on Silver. Plus rare and some unreleased tracks that were on Finally Enough Love. I don’t see how people are still complaining after all the things we got so far.

How can you compare albums we already have with newly remastered versions WITH bonus material? Fans were quite happy with the singles campaign since we were getting a shit ton of promo unreleased remixes but since the reissue announcement was made seems they really are holding back on that so we are stuck with bare bones. So idk how you could possibly be genuinely curious why fans are complaining. And if anything her team should be happy we are complaining because it means there is a market for her reissues!

I think we have to keep in mind that the only thing that hasn't really materialized from this is the Expanded Re-issues most are wanting.  I can understand the frustration and why people are complaining, but only if they aren't trying to narrate as if NOTHING has been happening since the deal was announce. A lot has happened.  In summary, the whole deal is to cultivate her back catalog which has been going on.  Even the inclusion of LAP in the new Marvel film trailer is part of this deal. FEL is probably the biggest thing that has come out of this apart from the MXTour and the on-going digital/streaming single additions.  Still, I admit I was hoping to have the first albums re-issued in a deluxe-expanded version, but possibly they aren't considering that a landmark album.  I'm waiting to see what happens with the anniversary of LAV this fall before I give up on the expanded re-issues. I've been pretty vocal in what I think could be happening here, but once the anniversary of LAV comes and goes, and nothing happens, then I'll definitely re-think the idea that expanded re-issues aren't coming.  I still have some faith in it happening, but I also know that this deal is more than that!

In fairness, I don't mind the colored vinyl releases. I get it. Vinyls are big right now as well as the colored versions.  Both FEL and TRUE BLUE repress of those colored vinyls are actually really nice. I'm glad I own them. Eventually those rainbow versions will be out of print and a huge collector's item as well.
