Madonna will pay tribute to Prince with a live performance at the Billboard Music Awards this month. Billboard and Dick Clark Productions told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Madonna will honor Prince at the May 22 show. Specific details about the performance weren’t revealed. The Billboard Awards will air live on ABC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Ludacris and Ciara will host the show, which will include performances by Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Pink, Demi Lovato and Justin

Excellent piece      Madonna’s Only Wrongdoing Is That She Is Still Alive http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/madonnas-only-wrongdoing-is-that-she-is-still-alive_us_57435497e4b09f28cf5a02ba When Madonna honored Prince at last night’s Billboard Music Awards, I thought to myself, there is no other artist more suitable to honor the music and art of the tragically deceased Prince. After all, Madonna’s close relationship with Prince is well known and documented (check their duet- Love Song

I don't care who Prince nor Madonna is. I don't care if they're legendary or sacred. Or part of the "trinity of pop"   The only thing I care about is that A HUMAN BEING put their heart and soul to tribute another human being, A FRIEND. So if we feel compelled to spew hateful opinions we need to re-evaluate our values because it is plain disrespectful.   It's not the decent thing to do.   This isn't the Superbowl, nor one of her shows. This is a tribute from a friend to a friend.   Grow t

And that's it? I waited for so long, what a disappointment!

We're probably gonna get crucified but same. She looked amazing, but I was a little underwhelmed. Vocals weren't that great even with nervous or whatever, and Nothing Compares 2 U went on too long. When Doves Cry would've been a good metaphorical choice.

Twitter is destroying her tbh. Seems to be the same silly "opinions" from the same silly people.

I can't believe people actually wanted some kind of high energy extravaganza. People's taste levels on the floor at this time.

haters are always haters. let them be hate themselves.

I think it's one of the best things she's ever done live. Nothing Compares 2 U has a special place in my heart since I love Sinéad O'Connor so I already knew Prince was the original writer. Madonna gave us a hint some weeks ago when she posted some lyrics on Instagram/Facebook. That was the first time I realised Prince version said "13 days" and not "15 days" like it's known worldly.

I loved the entire thing, I did not care if she reused some past elements like the backdrop or the throne and cane... She couldn't do it any better, Prince was a friend of her despite some fallouts throughout the years, the pic where they were hugging each other says it all.

Again, I loved it til death and had me singing all the time! Very good Madonna

It was amazing, she was singing the most accurate and emotional song for Prince and she did well to not choose any funky song. Smart, correct, respectful, she was in her world, she didn't tried to be Prince, squealing or dancing like him  :jamming:  (altough she couldn't do it, let's be honest).

On the other hand she also chose a song that takes some serious vocal chops to sing....which also isnt her strong suit.

I could have actually pictured M doing one of his upbeat tracks (ie: Let's Go Crazy) in honor of him and to help lift everyones spirits - she could have invited a popular guitarist to join (maybe one from one of Prince's many bands) and also have Sheila E join to do percussion.

The intro to lets go crazy would have been perfect (and she would agree since she used it) and she could have just told people to get out of their seats and celebrate a genius. boom! and I can picture her singing that track perfectly.
