Madonna as a singer and cultural icon will live on forever, or at least long after she’s gone. Then all the Madonnas appear to demonstrate the breadth of her musical and visual impact while singing LUV Madonna while the real Madonna sings Bitch I’m Madonna. That’s the concept. It’s pretty straightforward.

Just got home from the show in Phoenix. it was better live than the videos could ever convey and it really works overall. The crowd was very loud and enthusiastic and she commented on it early on and seemed to be enjoying herself. The only hitch was she was late coming out to start Bedtime Story and missed the first couple of lines

I think this tour feels different because maybe SHE feels different. It’s like she has a new lease on life after her medical emergency. Not afraid to be raw and show emotion, embracing the things she is truly grateful for

I totally agree about the Madame X discourse here. I was already becoming a fan, but Madame X was the album / era that really made me a huge Madonna fan and convinced me to go back and check everything else out. This album is totally in line with Madonna's ethos of the majority of her career. Experimental, sonic exploration through a particular concept and mission statement. I've always loved it! I rank it at #5 of my Madonna Albums Ranking. Medellin is one of my favorite songs of her whole career; I was so obsessed with it for the months after it came out as the lead single in 2019. My last semester of undergrad, that was MY SONG.

Madame X is one of her most interesting albums in many ways. That so many fans didn’t get it simply left me a bit baffled and disappointed. It was such a confidant and totally out there record in oh-so-many ways. To me it was also very Classic Madonna in a lot of ways.

But that's the point, Taylor or Ariana would have never ever made album like Madame X. They are barely trying anything adventurous and controversial in their music (I don't mean it as hate at all). I would say not even Mariah, Kylie, Janet or any other big popstar from 'old' era would dare to release something like Madame X now. And that's why we love Madonna, she is not scared in her 60s to not follow the trends and is always doing her own thing.

Well, I can understand that, being she simply added her vocals to it. Still, she is on the track, she's credited for the success just as much as the Weeknd. But you and I know, it only became the hit, because of The Weeknd. If this was a Madonna solo track it wouldn't have gotten the same exposure and achieved the same success!

Definitely correct but I personally can't consider Popular a Madonna song, I know she is featured and so on, but I simply cannot see it as her song/her hit.

Exactly. I have no interest in hanging out at the venue for hours. I rarely buy merchandise at concerts because one they are super expensive and two, the lines are long. Like you, I'm not interested blowing my money on overpriced drinks, foods and merchandise. Also, it's a pain to carry around the merchandise through the whole concert. I rather get there when the show is about to begin. I prefer to hang out elsewhere until that time, especially if I have a good idea when she's coming on stage.

Cause the great thing is you can enjoy the concert experience your way and I'll do what's fun for me. I don't care about merch (for anyone) and I don't buy it. Have no desire to down a ton of overpriced drinks when I'm going to be driving home in the middle of the night (ridiculously) anyway, so to each their own!

It depends.. Maybe tour helped her forget about hospital experience and she doesn't want to go back to that topic. We will see.. I am going to take anything she creates but I would just wish her to have a one last huge world hit, and I assume it might happen only when she tries to go down nostalgia route.. therefore some 80s throwback in her new music might do just that

I love Madame X, it is even in my TOP5 albums, but she should do something more lighter this time to get general publick back on her side. Recently I was thinking that Purple Disco Machine with Stuart Price would be an amazing producer duo for her next album. Album with nostalgia feedback back to her 80s.

Madame X is an amazing album but a hard pill to swallow for most people it’s great in its social commentary but lacks more songs in the vein of Crave to make it less dense and dark. if this was made by Taylor or Ariana it would’ve sunk harder

I do agree with this. I love Taylor Swift too! But it's true, people dismiss certain artists nowadays who are very important and talented, but worship the every release of certain selected phenomenons like Taylor or Ariana. I think if Madonna used less harsh vocal processing / autotune on this album, it may have been received somewhat better. I'm not meaning radically better received, but I think it would have helped somewhat. Some songs would have been superior with warm, genuine vocals, like on Batuka and I Don't Search I Find, for instance.

Madame X will only ever be looked at a period of musical creativity. It is the Madonna album with the least personality. It’s an art piece and a social commentary. Thats why it didn’t connect. There’s very little Madonna in it. A couple of lines in Medellin and that’s it. Madonna albums usually get praised in retrospect when they use the lens of analysing Madonna’s life at the time. I can’t think of a single song on Madame X that tells me about Madonna and where she is, who she is or how she is in her life. Maybe the survivors guilt somewhere on Funana but that’s pushing it at best. It’s probably the first album when she shone the lens away from herself. Which in itself is quite interesting but as a fan of the woman herself it leaves the listener feeling quite hollow even though there’s much heart in the album. I don’t know. It’s a brilliant record in many ways but it just doesn’t move me in the way much of the stuff on Rebel Heart and even MDNA does because it’s faceless. Thats its real Achilles heel. so I’m not sure what a ten year appraisal would have to say.

It seems that Take a bow is improving vocally in the recent shows. The track still doesn't fit, but at least it's not embarassing as before.

Not specifically directed at you by why don’t people enjoy the whole experience of going to a concert? get a drink, see all the merch, buy the merch, talk to people, people either have to wait the same killing tine at their houses, hotels, restaurants anxious of when to get to the arena. Just enjoy the full experience… the energy of the people at any show is amazing

Burning Up digital single gave us a lot. 7” edits for Burning Up and Physical Attraction but they really skimped on Everybody though do you think they will give us an Everybody EP with original cover art with the Dub, Extended Version, etc I still want You Can Dance unmixed version of Everybody on streaming too

Which is quite strange since people who have been fans long before you and even since the beginning do not see what you are able to see regarding the purpose of this album at the time of her life, etc. I get it. some people don't like the album. She's a very polarizing artist, but a lot of what she shares on this album is very much who she's always been since beginning her career. The difference is; she let a different culture influence her. To me, that is true inspiration. And we all know even from the beginning of her career, inspiration to her songs come from some things that seem minimal to us but at the time, it may have been huge to her.

Hang on. Where did we hear they only filmed select songs with Truth or Dare? I thought Madonna and Alek said the tapes were lost? I also find it hard to believe they would know which songs they were using for both films before they were even edited. It doesn’t make sense.
