her voice might not be in top form, but hey, i feel her emotions whenever she does sing live... it is raw, imperfect but so so touching. that has always been her gift, the emotions and she still does it. i loved how freaking fragile she sounds on crazy for you. it's almost like she cries while singing...like being super emotional  and still pushes through  - i love it!

I think the problem with crazy for you is that is the original key and it´s too high for her at 65, but she also acting it and singing it from her fragility, so for me it´s a shining moment too. Her voice has deepened a bit, as it expectable, but it´s still beautiful and very clear. Another gold moment is that transition to Bad Girl, when the acoustic sound of the piano starts and she walks so classy and confident but also raw and almost naked. It´s genious, and she sounds amazing, and I rediscovered that ballad again.

For me, the message it´s Ok, I´m not so young anymore, my voice might be deeper, i can´t dance like before, don´t have the top physical shape of 1993, but so what. It´s my legacy, It´s still me, we are alive and we are celebrating, and here I am still doing amazingly well despite the high and lows.

And I celebrate her with deep emotion.

Crazy For You was performed quite poorly even on the opening night, it was somewhat of a disaster. Throughout most of the concert, partly due to the backing vocals, I thought she was in good shape, but when she sang Crazy For You, I clearly heard several off-key notes.

I tried to understand why she sang it so poorly, considering that she had performed it so well in Rebel Heart. The issue here is that there are very few backing vocals, the accompaniment is minimal, and the key she chose is higher than that used in the RIT or Rebel Heart Tour. The result is mediocre and likely to deteriorate as the tour goes on. But we still love her.

Even Mother and Father, despite the use of autotune, she sings quite poorly, especially in the final notes where even the autotune struggles to correct the pitch. I also noticed this while I was there. I didn't hear some of the vocal issues I heard at home while listening to audio and video recordings; I noticed some minor off-key moments here and there, but the overall effect was quite good.

And it's all live except for JML and Erotica.

All different nights, all sounds good to great

There is no problem with Crazy For You, i just posted 3 different video's from 3 different nights and she sounds good in all 3. There are some bad nights I gues from this song, but also great ones so a problem is a reach

To some people she sounded frai on this particular song, on this tour, ergo my post. But if you read my message well, I loved that one. But yes, she didn´t sounded strong.

She sounds bad in all 3 😅

The long high notes are always off-key.

she was even more into it in my opinion, especially the beginning, the 80s stuff. SO SO AMAZING. i felt like it was filmed, she was so good. maybe because rocco was there? we even spotted max martin! always good if she wants to impress someone, i felt the little extra effort on her part.

I don’t particularly care if she’s ‘off-key’. Hearing the rawness and emotion in M’s proper live voice warms my soul. I don’t go to a live M show for vocal perfection.

(I was at opening night and loved CFY)

Same here.  In fact, I felt she purposely was trying to sound emotional with CFY.  They same with Live to Tell. It's all part of the story she's telling. My only wish is she sang the full song.

As a sound engineer I can assure you that the verses and the bridges of erotica are playback . Chorus and parts of “you thrill me” are live.

JML of course yes it’s playback, as it should.

As it should be. Or do people think it's easy for her to sing Erotica or JML in that same sultry voice?

What’s your take on Bad Girl? Did it sound like she was singing (along with a guide track or not) live the whole time? Did she sound good

It's been said already, the whole show is live with a backup track, except for Everybody's choruses, Erotica and JML. You can clearly tell from multiple videos of all the dates.

Is anyone else getting the vibe that the brief "Crazy for You" moment is meant to be a tribute to the Something to Remember period? I don't know how else to explain her being escorted off the stage by her "Human Nature" persona as well as the tone of the show suddenly softening and turning romantic after the Erotica/"Vogue" segment.

If one is still following Madonna in 2023, they should know that her vocal abilities have objectively declined since the Confessions Tour, and she has evidently stopped her vocal training.

It's quite objective that, vocally, these performances of CFY are frequently unsuccessful. In these three videos, the only successful one is the third from Antwerp, where she manages to hit the note "One" correctly at the beginning of the song. In my opinion, she also has a slight autotune with a 20% cromatic pitch correction, which clearly doesn't work miracles.

Her issues are of a technical nature, and they significantly affect her vocal delivery. Her voice lacks proper diaphragmatic "appoggio", she has poor breath control, leading to a lack of pitch control and tuning.

And she approaches high notes from below (which is also a psychological issue), and as a result, they often fall flat. Her vibrato is uneven, and she experiences scratchiness in her throat, a clear sign of forcing air through the vocal cords.

She performs way better in the mid-low range. This is why I believe @FraP hit the mark. Madonna lacks good technique; vocally, she's almost at the level of the RHT (a bit worse) and certainly nowhere near the level of the RIT, where her vocal technique was far more solid. Now she does what she can, but evidently without the guidance of a vocal coach and with the help of technology.

Her issues are with the higher chest notes and register shifts. She shouldn't sing this song in a higher key than in RIT and RHT because it makes it even more challenging for her. The mistakes she makes are almost always the same in all three of these videos, and you can hear that the approach in Antwerp was similar even though she managed to deliver those notes in that show.

Fortunately, she has a very expressive timbre and manages to convey a lot of emotions even when she sings off-key. Typically, singers with poor technique have fewer expressive registers. This is not the case with Madonna; she has a wonderful timbre, especially in the lower notes, and she can still evoke emotions.

Love for an artist goes beyond vocal performances, but if she were to resume her vocal training, it would be a wonderful gift for her supporters. Her voice is beautiful, and we know what she has been capable of; just look at the American Life Promo Tour or the Drowned World Tour, with not even a hint of autotune.

One more Easter egg!!! I do love finding other detectives here!!! (Much likely it was rather Price's idea than M's own...)

EDIT: @Lorx, maybe M's singing CFY very badly on purpose given this theory by acolyte, cause STR, and BS too, were essentially artificial and forced-by-label projects... Now I believe this is solely M's idea!

I don't believe this theory is true. Madonna put a lot of herself into STR and if a label ever pushes her to do something, she tries to do it her way. I also don't think she sings poorly "on purpose." However, I believe here CFY is a tribute to her rebellious side, to the Madonna we see in Human Nature.
