Could you work for Madonna?
Voguerista and 2 others reacted to Blue Jean for a topic
A lot of people are difficult and demanding in the world. If you don’t take it personally you are fine. I very much doubt she is like that the majority of the time. If she was people wouldn’t want to work for her.3 points -

I have a feeling she will prove me wrong but I think she might need to rethink her way of presenting her music. These tours pushing her physical limits are not only harming her, I do not think they truly represent all of her work. I think she is too focused on proving how tough she is because she is getting older. She seems stuck. Innovation Madonna. You were always a champion of innovation. My opinion of course has to be said but putting that aside I hope she gets the care she needs to heal and not be in pain anymore. ? Wishing and sending her all the positive energy I can for her to be well. ❤3 points -

Well, no news or leaks, just a thread to wish Madonna a speedy and nice recovery. I felt a pain in my heart with her description on the insta post. I could feel her pain showing on her facial expressions. It must not be easy for her, she's really pushing it to the limit, seems she underwent a speedy diet to be in shape physically forthe tour and the bruises and pain won't stop. We wish you well Queen! <32 points -

I think I'm too sensitive to work for Madonna. I love and admire her too much, if she were rude to me (in a non joking way ofc), I would be devastated. I don't think she's quite as difficult as most people make her seem though. I believe she's just very disciplined and hard-working2 points
-
Yes I could and would. I would be honoured. You learn a lot working for difficult people, they can be stressful but also very inspiring and it changes your life. I have done it with lesser mortals so Madonna would be the ultimate experience. I don’t know if she’d want to hire fans though?2 points

Voguerista and one other reacted to LikeAMelody for a topic
In my personal life I am lazy but my work ethic is very good. She would probaly like my no nonsense approach to work. No phones, no fooling around...I'm honest and often put work's needs ahead of my own. I'm respectful of management but do have a problem if they are unfair to me in anyway. The things I think would bother her about me would be that I apologize a lot, can be slow in my work...not from laziness but perfectionism. I can also be emotional. I am also very concerned with how people feel about me. I am also easily hurt by blunt criticism. I need to feel supported. I am not "late" but I also do not manage time well. I am like the tortoise. I guess it would depend on what she would hire me for because I do have some traits I think she would like.2 points -

Hey Madonna, I doubt you'll read this LOL but if you happen to do so, let it be known that we all know how strong and courageous you are. I remember when you fell off your horse and broke two ribs. Nevertheless, two days or so later you were filming the Hung up video on morphine to assuage the pain. This stuck in my brain to this day. You have no need to prove anything to anyone. Please get all the rest you need and take all the meds that are necessary to come back on top form and continue to delight us as you've always have. We won't be happy if you feel bad. I wish you the best recovery and the best for 2020!2 points -

Well perhaps fate is intervening as I tried to buy a ticket tonight but it’s so expensive it got rejected and my card was blocked (even though there’s no balance on it!) So perhaps the hour I have wasted trying to buy a ticket is the universe’s way of telling me to hold off!! Of course my bank is closed now so I can’t get it unblocked to try again. It may also be time to move banks! Last time this happened they left me stranded in Santa Ana unable to pay for my hotel room after I’d been travelling for 24 hours! If it hadn’t been for the hotel manager taking pity on me and giving me the benefit of the doubt that first night I’d have been sleeping on the street!1 point

Honestly, I disagree. They may wait until January 10 to see how it goes, if she recovers, if she feels better and then decide. They won't cancel now if they are not sure. And also, like I said already in the Miami thread, they definitely won't announce it on Xmas day.1 point -

Madonna's Polaroids raised $188,900!
Levon reacted to Certified Fuck Up for a topic
I don't either as a fan would've had not shelled out that cash voluntarily for any/that charity and nice work if she can get it the bidder bidding and affording the highest price! Still I can't help but think of the guy who paid £10K for the chair she sat on during the Miami's Tears of a Clown... for that kind of cash I'd rather have gained an hour with Madonna - ask her few questions [and I would've sold the chat to a magazine for charity] and have her signed my CD Albums! Mission Impossible possibly but hey I can only wish that right?1 point -

I'm sending all of my love and well wishes to Madonna! I've seen several rude posts (not on here, thankfully) from 'fans' who expect her to put their entertainment over her body. She's a 61 year old woman who has been dancing and performing for what, nearly 50 years now? Her body needs time to rest and recover and we need to respect that. She's given us so much over the past FOUR DECADES. The very least we can do is give her the time and space she needs to heal. I'm praying that all goes well and she's back to her normal self soon!1 point -

I don't see the point in comparing Cher and Tina to Madonna. They're all individual cases. Okay, Cher just walks but she sings live way better than Madonna and vice versa. And okay, Tina danced and sang when she was older than Madonna but Madonna is having some knee injury which might but doesn't have to be related to her age. Gaga, waaaaay younger than Madonna, had a hip injury so does it mean she is "worse" than Tina? Hell no. I'm just wondering why she is institing on using the stairs and high-heels during the concert. I mean if you're in so much pain you just have to change some parts instead of ruining your health.1 point -

there is no reason why one has to climb a ladder. use a lift, use the smaller stairs, use a step ladder rather than straight ladder, a light rig, or just walk onto the stage.1 point

Tina Turner did a big last tour back in 2008/2009 with 90 dates at the age of 69. Singing and dancing with heels. Cher is 12 years older and she's done 174 show since 2017. She does not make the handstand but she's moving ! Madonna is in great shape and I adore her but she's not wonder woman and not unique. She's only 61.1 point

I am glad she postponed it because her vocal delivery during the live performances of the Ray Of Light era was really affected and that always made me cringe. It's amazing how she recovered her vocal delivery for the Music era. And that's the voice we were all able to hear at the Drowned World Tour.1 point -
The Vibe magazine cover

https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/hip-hop/8477004/vibe-magazine-oral-history Mimi Valdes (editorial assistant, 1993-94; assistant editor, 1994-95; style editor, 1997-98; executive editor, 1999-2002; editor-at-large, 2002-03; editor-in-chief, 2004-06): Jonathan booked Madonna and Dennis Rodman as a cover. And Eddie Murphy’s publicist was mad as hell that Madonna was getting the cover over Eddie. We all wanted Eddie over Madonna, so we were upset about it too. When [word of the cover choice] started to get out in the industry, we all felt the need to save Vibe’s reputation. Poulson-Bryant: I said [to Jonathan], “The staff needs to have a conference. People are really not happy about this.” Van Meter: I said, “This isn't The Village Voice. We’re not unionized. You can’t come in here representing the staff.” Valdes: We were all standing by waiting for Scott to give us the go-ahead to come in. When Jonathan saw us, he got really upset. Van Meter: I felt like I was losing control. And I said [to Scott], “You’re fired.” People in the hallways started crying. Mimi Valdes was screaming as if she’d just found out her mother was shot and killed. And I was like, “Oh, my God, I made it worse.” Poulson-Bryant: He came to my office: “You’re not fired. Look, we’ll have a staff meeting.” Jones: I was staying away from editorial policy. I got involved when Jonathan put the Beastie Boys on the cover and told me he was following up with Dennis Rodman and Madonna. He had already shot it! Van Meter: I guess Quincy was getting a lot of shit from people for putting the Beastie Boys on the cover, and when he sees the Madonna cover, he went crazy. Jones: I said, “Over my dead fucking body! That’s the way you blow an urban magazine.” Van Meter: Madonna was queen. You can’t not put her on the cover. I couldn't conceive of killing the best cover story we had done so far. [Quincy and I] ended up having a fight on the phone, and I smashed my phone into a thousand pieces and cleared off the top of my desk onto the floor. I think I said, “I quit.” I went home. And then the phone calls started. Everyone tried to get Quincy to change his mind. Even Madonna called me at home. She was really pissed. Jones: I called Madonna and I said, “I’m telling you as a friend: it’s not personal, but you cannot pander with an urban magazine this early.” She said, “Quincy Jones, you and I can take over the world if we want to. See you around, pal.” I haven’t talked to her since then. Van Meter: No one could get Quincy to change his mind. Carol Smith and Robin Wolaner called and said, “Just get as much money as you can and walk away.” By the way, I think it was a terrible idea that they hired me. I look back now and realize how incredibly naive I was. Valdes: For all the criticism he got, Jonathan really established the tone and the vision for the magazine. We had a research department. We had a fact-checking department. A photo department. Our art department was top-notch. He created a beautiful magazine.1 point -

The point was that they didn't want a white pop star on the cover after having a white group in it, on a black magazine. It's about representation and not anything else. They have every right to put black artists first.1 point
