Clark_Kent 1,044
Loved by M, not so love by fans. Why's that? Hipnotic song that brings you into a sugar tunnel. Incredible perfomances in the tours, highlights for sure. Voguerista, BradleyPratt, musicman and 5 others 6 1
cybertotor 109
I don't like the album version because I'm not into urban music. But I always liked the live versions and my favorite is probably the MDNA Tour version. Levon
nito84bcn 2,755
I love it. I never understood all the hate... and as you said, on concerts it was a highlight! It could be a 4th single with a cool expensive video. confessed
rlittler81 1,601
One of my guilty pleasures... always loved this song and found it to be a highlight when performed live. One of her best choreographed songs too! maxijazz and nito84bcn 1

I agree, I don't care for the album but the live versions of the Hard Candy songs are better than some of the album versions, specifically Candy Shop and She's Not Me. Also the Erotic Candy Shop is amazing! Levon, confessed, maxijazz and 1 other
Shoful 8,552
I love this song actually. I don’t know if it’s because it’s so bad it’s funny or it’s actually hypnotic. It’s hilarious how much she loves this song. When she started singing it at the RHT I couldn’t stop laughing martinicus
EgoRod 5,451
I never care for Hard Candy but I never really dislike the song. Maybe because the time it came out, it always remind me of being Pharrell's leftover from The Sweet Scape with Gwen. It will fit that album sound. or maybe that was Pharrells sound Voguerista
steady75 9,570
When Beat Goes On exists I never understand the fascination with this song. It’s hella basic. Beat Goes in had a chance of being a genuine hit especially with the Kanye and Pharell feature at the time. make it make sense. Even when the Backdrop video had been filmed for the tour. Warners were high on ket at that time. Voguerista, nito84bcn, Blue Prince and 2 others

Nahual 599
It's not nearly as awful as some people make it out to be, but I'll never understand Madonna's fascination with it.
lucasciccone 4,221
I have to say I never hated Candy Shop but I will never ever understand Madonna's obsession with it. I mean... It's a basic song. She did a great job on the reversion for MDNA Tour btw, and Rebel Heart was good too.
MDNA22 1,196
Rebel Heart was the best version - amazing baseline and performance Voguerista
Voguerista 11,818
I've never liked this song much, but, I love Madonna's love and spirit for it and all of her tour performances.
Ayham 5,483
I LOVE this song... but she overpreformed it! So many times lol! & tbh was waiting for a video for this song especially after the early leak... when I listened to this song I remember I found it weird in a good way, totally new / different style to M & the same with BIM! ??? Pootz333 2,691
This is one of my Mom's favorite M tracks of all time (along with "Jump"). Gets her life every time its performed on tour. Her M taste floors me. She found her annoying until "Like A Prayer" lol... Since we're on the topic.... I have always thought that Hard Candy would have been the perfect follow up to Music. The sound would have been right on time. America would have eaten that album up at the time. And would have worked flawlessly with the Britney/Gap moments. I like it. Its a great pop album. And I wouldn't trade American Life for anything. Don't get me wrong? Voguerista and MDNA22

Yeah I think it would have been received much better by fans and the general public if it did not follow the brilliance of the Confessions era and had been released earlier maybe around 2002/2003 when Kelis released her Kaleaidescope album produced by Pharell/The Neptunes. Think Hard Candy is a great solid pop album, better than any of the albums that followed and the unreleased tracks from the sessions like Across The Sky are great too Pootz333
Eulonzo 0
I like the song! Always have. I wouldn't put it as one of my favorites, though. My favorites are 4 Minutes, Miles Away and Give It 2 Me.

WopaelWopael 728
I dont hate it and I truely enjoy the different versions for each tour but it cant see why she used it on three tours when there are so many other great songs. And btw, I thought she hates repeating herself...
Pootz333 2,691
Oh my goodness. I would have loved for her and Kelis to collaborate then AND during the Fleshtone era. Surprising "Candy Shop" wasn't at least remixed and sent to clubs. I think people appreciate it more with different production (they usually appreciate the tour versions more for that reason it seems). Peter would have done a great mix, no doubt. I wonder what Stuart could have come up with. I find his "Miles Away" mix so underrated. I think I listened to "Across The Sky" and "Latte" more than anything on the album. Classic Madonna. Imagine a live performance of "Across The Sky" that transitions into a mashup with the "Look of Love". DEATH. Also I agree with other posters, "Beat Goes On" was such an obvious single choice. Was shocked it wasn't released. 8 hours ago, MDNA22 said: Yeah I think it would have been received much better by fans and the general public if it did not follow the brilliance of the Confessions era and had been released earlier maybe around 2002/2003 when Kelis released her Kaleaidescope album produced by Pharell/The Neptunes. Guest Nobody Knows Me
I think the song is very simple for an album opener but it's enjoyable. It's a complete waste on tours though in my opinion.
