Raunchy done right. One of the more iconic Top 10's, what with that video and all. It's got a slinky bassline and fantastic percussion. Her talk-singing is at it's best here, and she sounds absolutely in control and submissive at the same time. Based on the "The Beast Within" mix placing, I was worried about this one. But Madonna's irresistibly salacious attitude and delivery pulled it through to a fantastic spot. Another positive is the controversy it generated. Who doesn't love that? But please, no more JML interludes. Two in a row is too much.

I COMPLETELY expected this to be in the Top 5. With it's mellow production, it's smooth and svelte vocals over poetic lyrics, this is absolute perfection. I'm glad to see it's gotten a few performances, and I would love to see it be brought back just once. William Orbit's finest production undoubtedly. It's criminally underrated, and even though it's a massive fan favorite, I'm beyond bummed to see it knocked out at only #8. Shame on y'all.

Justify makes sense because it was a Madonna experience moment.  It was the first time I had ever seen a full video, albeit censored, played on the regular broadcast tv news and tons of talk shows etc.  It was discussed for weeks everywhere you turned.

 

Drowned World IS MY #1 fave song from our gal.  Sad to see it go.
