25 years aog this week; Madonna performed with Lenny Kravitz at the 1998 VMA's and picked up multiple awards for the Ray of Light and Frozen videos, including "Best Female Video" and "Best Video".

@Blue SkiesThat's right I forgot about that. In fact, I thought that happened at the Grammys or AMA's, but you are right, it happened at the VMA's that year. Though, he didn't take the award from her. He simply interrupted her acceptance speech, by taking her mic and blabbering on about Beyonce having the best video of the year. What a schmuck he was (and still is). It's odd how he still is able to get a lot of artist support (even from Madonna) considering he's gone off the rails.
I also do remember some getting a little worked up over how Miley danced and was dressed in 2013. Even Cher criticized her. LOL! Weird being I saw that performance and I've recalled far more risque movements and attire from years before even from men. Hell, both Prince and Howard Stern both wore buttless pants in the early days of the Award's shows. People thinking the MTV AWARDS show is supposed to be a "family type show" obviously have no idea how that awards show works. LOL!

I know there aren't many fans of this song, but I just love it, especially when she did it live here...

@Blue SkiesYeah, this was right at the same time when Penthouse and Playboy published her early nudes before she was famous. She was feisty then and she still is now!
-
@Blue SkiesAlso, she knew there was a time and place and being at Live Aid with so many legends, she probably wanted to show her professionalism as well as her musicianship!

It was June 22nd, 1996 when Billboard Magazine revealed Madonna's collaboration with her brother-in-law Joe Henry on the Sweet Relief II: Gravity Of The Situation – The Songs Of Vic Chesnutt. "Guilty By Association", the first of many collaborations Madonna would do with Joe. Probably her most rawest and best collab ever. Madonna & Henry would later collaborate on her songs Don’t Tell Me, Jump, The Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You and Falling Free which all have been fan favorites.

@stefo, Like you, this is my favorite and a lot of that is due to the fact, it's more Joe Henry than Madonna. Still, I love those tracks that came from him. I prefer her version of "Don't Tell Me" than his "Don't Stop". The same goes with "Devill.... " . She created something special with those tracks. I can imagine how special or different if she "Madonannized" "Guilty By Association", but it seemed perfect as is.
-
@tscott absolutely agree about both tracks, even if the best, for what I heard, is still to come: the blues ReInvention early version of Devil is apparently the most interesting and powerful. Who knows if we'll ever get it. The HC version is too Timberlakish, very Cry me a river sound (but that's a problem of the whole album)

It is today in 1987 when every fans favorite hilarious, slap-stick comedy film Who's That Girl was released to cinemas.

Imagine thinking you are gonna sell this without Madonna on the cover.
-
@RUADJAIHA! Great response. However, he won't have a problem selling this. The song is huge. Fans from all bases will eat this up. I'm just surprised they hadn't hopped on releasing a physical versions, months ago. Still, it's great to see the longevity of the song. Not many people could release a video and then release a physical copy this long after it was released. And this is coming from a soundtrack (which actually didn't appear on) of a flopped series. The run this song has had is incredible!

Today In Madonna History in 1986, Madonna appeared on Rolling Stone Magazine featured for the first time with her new re-invented look: The New Madonna

Poor "Lucky Star". Very little love from the fans:
-
All singles are great, actually I think many people just now start to realize how really good this album is, better than Like A Virgin and deserved more. Maybe fans should buy it for 40th anniversary globally and we could make it to number one, just like with Bedtime Stories

@proxyIt is a great album. I prefer it over LAV album. Still love LAV though, but it's just one great dance song after another. And I like the idea that we encourage people to buying it to get it #1 at least on the pop digital charts. The problem is, some are so against those tactics, but I don't see why we can't show our support for her first album turning 40.

I'd play pool with her any day!

@stickersweeter Thanks for your wonderful response. This was part of the shoot for a Rolling Stone special edition called Musicians on Musicians in 2021, where Maluma and Madonna both interviews each other. There were even a a couple of promotional videos to it as well. She uploaded one of them which includes a remixed version of "Bitch, I'm Loca". Another had snippets of them interviewing each other in a bar.

The Tour that never happened!

I wonder what the set list would have looked like without the songs from "I'm Breathless".

@Holger judging from an early draft of the BAT, Everybody & Physical Attraction would have been included. The latter was originally on setlist instead of Where's The Party. Vogue was meant to go in the Art Deco segment. I'm guessing the other songs would have been Spanish Eyes and Till Death Do Us Part. They might have been replaced Hanky Panky & Sooner or Later.
- Express Yourself
- Open Your Heart
- Causing A Commotion
- Physical Attraction
- Like A Virgin
- Like A Prayer
- Oh Father / Live To Tell
- Papa Don't Preach
- Till Death Do Us Part
- Vogue
- Material Girl
- Cherish
- Spanish Eyes
- Holiday
- Into The Groove
- Everybody
- Keep It Together
I could also see La Isla Bonita or Who's That Girl somewhere in the Cherish-Holiday segment.

You'll See and it's mixes including Veras and a live version of Live To Tell has been added to Madonna's digital and streaming platforms:
-
@Joan Riversthe live version of Live To Tell is actually from Who's That Girl.

Vulgar continues to pick up steam with nearly 3.5 Million streams to date. It's hardly slowing down says our resident @Prayer who keeps us up to date on the Spotify numbers. It is pulling in nearly 700,000 streams daily. This is good, but we can do better. While the song needs radio support too, to chart on all the popular pop charts, streaming allows these other platforms to see the demand for this song is strong. So KEEP streaming fans:

Thanks @proxy I do feel like I must do my part if I want to see her have some success still. If not, it's okay too, but I rather see fans doing what they can, rather just sitting and hoping something will magically happen. The fact is; without the help of fans streaming, requesting the song, etc., the platforms that can help promote more, won't know of the demand. We have to remember, even in the older days, it took the fans to show their enthusiasm and support for their favorite artists for radio to play those artists. We can sit here and say, "but it's all bought paid for now", but that's not always true. The public can easily push something to the forefront and make things popular as well.

To all those naysayers who said she ruined her face at the Grammys, here she’s never looked more like Madonna, she looks so natural and beautiful

Totally @MattyMads! But I get it, some people have a hard time processing how great she looks compared to most 65 year olds they know. But she can afford it. I think if she just doesn't over do it with the Botox fillers, she'll look fine.

MADONNA On Instagram: "Love from family and friends is the best Medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect.
As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving……….. But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.
So did the love and support from my friends. If you zoom into this Picture I am holding You will see A Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it. A perfect triangle of Brilliance.
Artist who touched so many lives including my own.
I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive. And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.
Thank you @guyoseary for this gift!
And Thank you to all my angels who protected me and let me Stay to finish doing my work!" ♥️ -
YOU CAN'T HURT ME NOW!!!
This time in 1989, MTV and Vh1 were regularly airing this beautiful song. It may not been a huge hit on radio, but it's one of her greatest ballads ever. Vocally, people can argue it may not be her best, but it still is quite raw and emotional and that definitely captivates people more than vocal ability.
-
Not to mention its also one of her best music videos - ignored by all awards shows and we still dont have a decent HD version of it- why ??

FINALLY IN HD, BABY!!!!!!
well kinda! LOL!
-
@stickersweeter, I posted the link before watching the video completely through. I was just excited, but like you said it doesn't look too HD to me. There are parts that look good, but it still looks pretty much like what it was before.
The Premium is a scam. I would never pay for that.

This week in 2008, the cover for Madonna’s Hard Candy album was revealed. The photo was taken by longtime collaborator Steven Klein. And your thoughts?

C'mon fans, let's support Madonna! Let's make an attempt to get her to be the only female artist in 5 decades to score a top 40 by purchasing and streaming "Popular". To quote and somewhat paraphrase @Prayer
If you want to really help and you're in the US: BUY it on digital platforms such as Amazon or iTunes, where sales count. It only cost at least $1.29
If you want to really, really, really help, then buy the explicit version and also the clean version. 2 sales.
You need 100 streams to equal a sale. Buy it and then stream it.
