  2. I‘m affected, Had orchestra ticket for 09/14. now I had to change my return flight from jfk to Paris and train from Paris back to Switzerland. Get an additional Airbnb in brooklyn because I extended now by brooklyn visit and I am going to attend now the 09/17 show (balcony). I will get a refund of the orchestra ticket 09/14. basically the refund will cover the extra costs and money I lost in order to extend the trip to be able to see the 09/17 show but instead of orchestra view, I will be on the balcony. At least I am going to be at the opening show of the tour.

  3. Good on her for realizing she might have a different type of disappointed fan if she had gone on as scheduled.

  6. It would be cool having a orchestral GH just like Sophie Ellis-Bextor recently did, Kylie also did it. Some good songs (not just the hit singles) going full dramatic orchestral madness.

  7. that's such a tough one. i feel for people who have lost money and have to reschedule. That really sux. Im flying from Australia and it would be a night mare to change everything. When I saw Re-invention she cancelled cause of sickness and we were scheduled to fly home after the concert. had to change everything I have been to other artists concerts who have cancelled due to illness etc. P!nk i missed completely because the rescheduled dates were when we were on holidays they were rescheduled that far out. But I also could imagine the backlash she would get if she opened the show not being right. Its her first Theatre tour so all eyes will be on her. I saw taylor had audio issues last night at the MTV awards in her first song and the media have dubbed that as cute. Imgine if M did it.

  16. Sorry.....but it just seems like fans are the last thing being considered on this tour. Many "standard" seats being listed as "Platinum" (with high prices)? Some funny business with seats now showing up less than what we originally paid weeks ago?.....and now rescheduling the first two shows and cancelling the third one. I know quite a few folks who were flying in to NYC for these shows.....so those are the folks I feel for the most.

    Favourite 3rd Single

it was just not in the US because the video was considered controversial because in it she is being chased by paparazzi on motorbikes which was similar too the death of Princess Diana the year before

  18. 'Erotica' is one of her finest songs in terms of production, structure, theme etc and is a song I've grown to appreciate more and more as time passes. 'IDSIF' is more akin to 'Vogue' than 'Erotica' to me. It is more uptempo and a more straight forward 'dance' song. Definitely my favourite song on Madame X but not as good a song as 'Erotica'.

  19. They need to do something different, have rare B-sides, 7" remixes or unreleased material from previous albums.

  21. I'd be much more interested in full remastered deluxe editions of all the Warner Bros. albums 1983-2008 than yet another compilation that a fan could construct better than her actual team.
    1 point
  22. Eh, who cares if she ever has a "hit" single at this point? Further chart success is just icing on the cake of an unbelievably long, untouchable career full of highlights. I'm just glad she's still around and passionate about making music.

  23. So people hate Celebration and the way the release was messed up, yet don't want a replacement that could potentially fix issues and include material that we haven't heard or has gone unreleased on CD/digitally? Okay.... It's actually a great idea to have a decent GH compilation for casual fans to be able to buy. I however would prefer a box set or anthology collection as apposed to another 2-CD GH set.

  24. As a Madonna loon, I'd totally buy it but another compilation feels pointless in 2019, since casual fans just make their own playlists and the record-buying public are still fixated on The Immaculate Collection and Celebration. I think if they really want to honor her back catalogue and make a quick buck, why just not 1. Release "Evita", "GHV2" and "Celebration" (Standard) on vinyl for the very first time. Does the longtime Madonna really needs another coloured copy of "Like A Virgin" at every Record Store Day?. 2. Upload the maxi singles / remixes on digital platforms. If Kylie Minogue's team can rip the CD singles to Spotify why not the best-selling female artist of all time? At least a digital album with her greatest remixes (You Can Dance 2?) would be a nice gesture to please the hardcore fans that own the physical releases.

  25. I'd like to see her do what Depeche Mode have started doing, which is box sets with 12" singles from each album. I think they're all remastered and the artwork is high-quality with a poster. At this point, I don't think another greatest hits album is needed. 1. The Immaculate Collection is still considered the definitive hits collection and is still her biggest selling album. 2. The other problem is her last real his was 2008/2009, what would they remove from 'Celebration' to make way for the singles from MDNA and Rebel Heart? If they were to include recent singles, it would probably have to be something of a multi disc singles box set collection.

  26. No idea. They did the digested thing with Kylie's most recent greatest hits (sadly) - the vinyl is a sort of slimmed down "highlights" version of the release (42 songs on 2 CDs, 20 across 2 LPs).

  27. I only want for a greatest hits compilation, the "remix/edits" and the "7'' versions" only available on vinyl from 1982 to 1990 (Dress You Up, Open Your Heart, etc, etc). After 1990 her catalog is available on CD so you can create any Greatest Hits without any problem. And I want her classic videos in real 1080p. Maybe is expensive to scan the original 35mm, but Madonna is part of the popular culture and her videos must be saved in the best quality.

  28. As long as it's done proper, I'll be here for it. After the royal fuckup that was Celebration, I'm not holding my breath.

  29. In America yes. Only scraped number 37 here in the UK. That’s the thing about greatest hits compilations, you have so many different charts to consider. Take a Bow, 7 weeks at number 1 in America, didn’t even crack the top ten in the UK. Hollywood didn’t crack the top 100 in America but was a number 2 hit here.

  30. I would love if she did a new greatest hits album like take that did with Odyssey. A reinventing of hits produced by Stuart Price. At least a two dics set. I just love the Odyssey set.?

  32. What they can do is get all the original 35mm Film were it was used for Video, transfer it. In a lot of cases it was used and release a Blu Ray of all her Music Videos in Glorious HD. This is not beyond impossible (I guess unless these reels ended up in someones bin!).

  33. The last Greatest Hits was a complete FUCK up, we don't want that again.. Nothing was done properly.. CD's had mastering errors and the Videos were pressed on Single Layer DVD's making the quality a complete disgrace. I still to this day can't believe the poor quality of that release.

  34. Unless it's something special like a boxset or contains unreleased material, remastered tracks, videos etc. Album sales are in the toilet and to rephrase everything being said here, she hasn't really had any hit among the general public for a while. There are some that think 4 Minutes or Hung Up was her last single and if we go by charts alone, only "Give Me All Your Luvin'" and "Bitch I'm Madonna" have cracked the chart since Celebration was released. There's no way to appease to both the GP and die hard fans that will mourn the exclusion of certain tracks, the wealth of material she could have supplemented to appease people to buy it or it being another hackjob the way Celebration was.

  35. Geez, she can't win, can she? On the one hand, fans always complain how she doesn't respect, honour or even acknowledge her legacy and her back catalog (nothing for 20 years of Ray of Light, nothing for 30 years of True Blue, a playlist for 30 years of Like A Prayer, etc). Greatest Hits can be a great way of doing do that - given that it's done right of course. At the moment there really isn't a comprehensive Madonna greatest hits package - Celebration was a poorly executed attempt at that but it fell shortly, both in terms of songs included/excluded and its quality.

  36. Releasing a compilation would be fine... but no need for a greatest hits.. a collection of unreleased songs and rare songs would be a much better idea.
    1 point
  37. This would be marketing genius in fairness. However, she doesn't tend to like looking backwards that much and record label changeovers might prohibit using all the artwork etc.
    1 point
  38. I would argue we haven't had a good career spanning GH since...well, "The Immaculate Collection", and even that was 15 remixes basically. Saying compilations aren't selling, or that anyone can make a Madonna hits collection on Spotify... both false. Most of Madonna's single edits aren't available anywhere to stream, and you can check my topic on Single Edits to see how many of them are missing exactly. I'd say approx 80%. And compilations are still a chart staple, they sell really well, and yeah, it's probably an older generation, but that's an underrated demographic. So yeah, a well done and well thought of Greatest Hits would be more than welcome. I'm especially opposed to any reworkings, especially with the current state of her voice. We gotta pitch down "Lucky Star" 4 semitones or something!

  39. I only love the Idea of "Greatest Hits..Remixed" not longer as 5 Minutes Versions. 3 CD's with a Bonus special CD of Acoustic Stuff for some of them! yet another only Hits Album is boring imo!

  40. Reworked material would be something I'd be interested in. In the studio with real instruments and her real singing voice and she needs a proper bass guitarist like Guy Pratt when she does Like A Prayer.

  41. A straight up greatest hits album doesn’t make any sense at this point. But a collection of unreleased songs would be more than welcome.
    1 point
  42. I think how Like a Prayers production was done for Eurovision would be a cool reimagining. If the songs collected are remade, then maybe it’d worth it. But it could messy fast and not all songs need that kind of attention. Girl Gone Wild and Ghosttown could stay the same. Or be tweaked. But they’d have to be fifteenth for them to matter, if that.
    1 point
  43. There's no need for a Greatest Hits again. Not only doesn't she really have any new hits since Celebration, but people don't even buy CDs anymore. They make their own playlists. Unless she's doing it to get out of some sort of contract, Greatest Hits albums aren't really a big thing anymore, especially when you have multiple already that collect your biggest songs. If she wanted to do a singles package collection - something she has yet to really do, that'd be a lucrative venture. It'd be an investment for fans. The gp just isn't big on greatest hits anymore.

  46. It would fit Madonna's compilation pattern. However, is a hit collection still a thing? Yes, artists still do it, but this is a streaming era. What is the point if people can easily access any of those songs on steaming services? She didn't even a hit since HC era, so it would be like re-releasing Celebration with a few 2010s flops and new songs. It would make more sense to release some special compilation. Ballads, dance songs, non-singles... Actually, it would be great if she would release a collection of unreleased stuff and by that I don't mean just the leaked outtakes, but other stuff too. Now, that would be a huge thing for fans and critics. A hit collection won't be anything special for anyone.
    1 point
  47. It was bound to happen sooner or later and of course it won’t even be the last one... It’s unnecessary but it will only be her fourth. Kylie has as many greatest hits albums as she does studio albums and she’s not the only one.
