  2. "Like A Prayer", simply, have it all: - A killer song, in general - A killer chorus - A killer vocal (and it's the original demo vocal!!!) - A killer controversial video - A killer middle 8 - A whole narrative around it (Pepsi, the Vatican, etc.) - A Madonna classic loved by the GP It's the one.

  3. I mean, if you can't follow the pattern at this point, then I can't really help you. It's been all but spelled out here and elsewhere. Two years ago they issued the press release announcing the reissue campaign. Since then, they've released some "unique" things (American Life, Who's That Girl) for "special events" (RSD, Everybody/Erotica anniversaries) just as the press release stated. One year after the release we got FEL. Now, 2 years after FEL, we were scheduled for the first album. The reason we don't have it yet is because M got sick. They made an announcement telling all the world that she would "need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour". Now what other commitments do you think Guy was referring to? A fucking gynaecologist appointment?? They're talking about the reissues. Now as to why they're still waiting is anyone's guess. Probably waiting to ride the buzz from the beginning of the tour, of I had to guess. But that's the (incredibly obvious to absolutely anyone with any sense whatsoever) commitment they're referring to that they needed to pause.

  4. THIS IS A BOLD FACED LIE!!! Dont let the boots of the patriarchy stomp on our dreams and wishes!! Also how many times to we have to discuss the statement in the press release. It legit says “Curated Deluxe Editions of her landmark albums”

  9. She looked painfully beautiful to me in Shanghai Surprise and ultra sexy as well in that one bedroom scene. That being said the movie I thought was awful. Like I actually tried a few times but couldn't watch it past 1/2 hour. Swept Away I thought was bad but it was watchable enough for me to finish. I actually had trouble seeing Madonna as a bitch in that movie. It didnt seem believable. The ending was pretty bad imo as well. I thought there was a funny line when Madonna was on that bike at the beginning and when talking about income inequality she said everyone else should open up bakeries or bake cakes or something along those lines. I did think it was funny though. But that movie defintiely was not all on her. Guess I would say Swept Away if I had to choose

  10. Oh my god what kind of warner bros mystery is this? All the power of goodbye remixes except the Dallas one are copyrighted as "THE POWER OF GOOD-BYE"! So weird

  11. I can understand the argument about Die Another Day. But saying Holiday was the lead single makes no sense. It was not even originally planned to be a single. And it was released months after the album.

  12. It has nothing to do with being "anal". It's about what is facts.... official facts! You are only entertaining the idea how another is spinning this idea that Holiday is considered the lead single when it's just not true. A "lead single" comes prior to an album. That's just a fact. It doesn't matter how long in between the album and song was released. I don't disagree that Papa Don't Preach wasn't a follow up single to help kick off the True Blue album, but it's not officially the 'lead single'. That officially goes to Live to Tell.

  13. I've always loved the song since its release in '86. And I agree her performance on Rebel Heart Tour was a great moment in the show. I loved how she stripped it back, but it still did not take away from the original. Very recognizable and sang beautifully. I still hope one day, she does some sort of Acoustic show, performing many hits (and non-hits) preferably televised. Something in the vein og MTV's/Vh1's... Unplugged/StoryTeller series.

  26. I don't recall hearing those at the time. I do recall the following which Wikipedia confirms regarding the RIT: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Re-Invention_World_Tour#Development Dress You Up, I'm So Stupid, Love Profusion (headcleanr mix) [all of those were rock versions to replace MG or BU], Swim or Nothing Really Matters (instead of Frozen), Take a Bow, Bad Girl, Live to Tell, Ray of Light (instead of PDP), The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, and I Love New York were rehearsed For the DWT, I remember people saying I Want You (instead of spanish WIFLFAG), You'll See, and Amazing being rehearsed For CT, Nothing Fails (instead of DW/SFL), Deeper and Deeper, and Everybody were rehearsed For S&S, Justify My Love, Secret, Holiday, Open Your Heart, and a Impressive Instant/Burning Up mashup were rehearsed For MDNA, Beautiful Killer, I'm Addicted, Falling Free, Superstar, Some Girls, and Physical Attraction were rehearsed For RHT, Between the Bars (interlude), Girl Gone Wild, Everybody, Joan of Arc, Hold Tight, Inside Out, Don't Tell Me, and Take a Bow were rumored / rehearsed. By "rehearsed", sometimes it was just the band / tour director making musical arrangements but never fully fledged beyond a concept demo into a choreographed number. I'm sure there were even more songs rehearsed for these tours that we don't know about. Judging from the above, it seems like the RIT had the biggest rehearsed setlist mainly because it was a 'greatest hits' of sorts. I'm assuming the Celebration Tour went through the same with us only knowing that Vogue, Crazy for You, Like a Virgin, Everybody, and Bitch I'm Madonna being rehearsed.

  28. I really don't know why it is so difficult to grasp that Warner f*cked it up completely. You simply cannot promise landmark reissue in 2021 for the most successful and iconic popstar on Earth and then do absolutely nothing for more than 2 years now, even ignoring her 40th anniversary, while every other average popstar is pumping up all sorts of reissues/anniversary releases. All excitement of fans from back then is gone. But I guess some are just happy with Instagram posts of Madonna dancing on Lucky Star song.

  36. I actually love the Immaculate mixes, always have. I always had had a preference to the 12" remixes/extended dance mixes over the album versions for many of her 80's songs. So Immaculate is like the perfect combo of the extended dance mixes edited down to a single format.

  38. The original release of the album is perfect. Sure, I question the absence of Who's That Girl, True Blue and Causing A Commotion, but what was included was great. And it's not like her team didn't react to the absence to those songs, by releasing the "Holiday Collection". My issue with this album is what is now on streaming and digital platforms. The mixes they substituted for the original versions such as Lucky Star. To me, it falsely represents what the album stood for. Madonna purposely remixed and mastered all those songs in a way, to be different to what was already released to the public. She didn't want to just release a typical Greatest Hits of versions that were already available. She wanted to present the songs slightly different, yet still true to form. Nothing will be better than the physical release of this collection. A double disc wasn't necessary back then.

  39. Better for them to fix this anomaly. Since The Power of Good-Bye is my favorite single I'm interested in this release more than before in this whole singles reissue thing. I won't forgive them if they put TPoG single with Dallas mix and Little Star on streaming and call it a day! 😂

  40. But that isn't the case with Live to Tell. Like you even said, she even considered naming the album "Live to Tell". The song was released to coincide with the film At Close Range and to serve as the first single to her True Blue album. Therefore, it will always be officially considered the "lead single" to True Blue.
