  1. Of all of them.. did we ever think it would be Madonna who’s legacy was so abandoned? The way her content used to handled back in the day and now this? Honestly it’s baffling to me. A consistent pioneer of new formats and now... pfft. It’s so bargain basement all the time. The quality of her brand has just festered and dipped for multiple years now. I can tell she still cares but her team are beyond help. Sack them all. Drain the swamp.

Not to mention the output control measures. bad edits, pops, crackles poor mastering poor vocal recordings scanned vinyl covers low res dvds streaming irrelevancy Stunted / lacking promo anniversaries that amount to a tweet/candle/playlist late concert times / poor set lists / high prices cheap ass remixes 3 singles per campaign Damaging tributes / public performances Social media tone deaf blunders

  4. Some of you are a little bit too much sometimes, to be honest. What's the need of this? Orlando Puerta was a dance music legend and a key figure in putting together all those Madonna maxis we loved and danced to, especially the sets for the singles of "Music", "American Life" and "Confessions On A Dance Floor". His work with the "Madame X" remixes was good too, in my opinion. Back to the remastered videos, we all know it's not a proper 4K remaster from the original film reels, thank you very much. No one is saying it is or it looks like one. But I'm sure even if it was some of you would be complaining that some frames are different (cause it would need re-editing and it wouldn't be 100% the same as the original video), they ruined the video, etc. etc. Yes, "Celebration" was a disaster. Yes, her digital catalogue is quite messy. Yes, these video remasters could be better in some cases. In others like "Hung Up" they already are perfect, by the way. Her team/Warner/Rhino are not perfect but also not the worst always. But it seems they can't never win and she can't never win with some people, anyway.

  5. I guess people were expecting it to look like an HD video, since that's what was advertised... It doesn't. It looks like an amateur upscale. It's better than what was available before, which isn't hard, but "Great" ? THIS looks great. THIS is how a proper remaster should look like. It's A-ha's team/record company can release such a product, why can't Madonna's?

  9. Well how the hell are you expecting this to look? It looks great. How clear and defined do you need the picture to be? It's a video. Why dont you just rent out Madonna and have her re-create the video in your living room? Jesus.

  10. I just realized I've never told this story here! So last year during the Lisbon leg of the MXT tour, I bought 2 tickets for the weekend shows of January 18/19 with my group of Madonna friends, but the Sunday 19 show got canceled 3h before (and just as I was leaving my house...). We were all devastated, especially me as I was the only one in my group who had bought tickets for 2 shows instead of 3 (they were pricey!), so now I would only see 1 show instead of 2. ? Cue Monday the 20th and I get a text from a portuguese friend who lives in the USA, saying he was in town for the Tuesday show and wanted to have dinner, I said of course. This friend in particular has some connections in the showbiz world and was telling me he had met Guy while visiting a local palace that day with his wife. Lisbon's social life/circle is pretty small so if you're a native like me, word and connections eventually get around - dinner time comes along and as I was leaving the house to meet him, he says dinner is canceled as Guy had given him Sara's email (Madonna's co-manager) for a free ticket. Guy is usually pretty chill with some fans so my friend then shared it with me because he knew I had my second show canceled. I went straight away to the Coliseu after emailing Sara asking for a ticket and just waited there for 1h30 until approximately 9h30pm, after my friend had already gone inside. 3h had passed and the doors would close at 10pm, so I just thought "ok she's busy and didn't see my email in time", so just took the train back home. Then, all of a sudden, she replies to the email saying she had a spare ticket in the FRONT ROW of the back section of the floor (the 300€ ones!) under my name on the reception desk and to hurry up because the doors would be closing in 20 minutes. I kid you not, the next 20 minutes were the most stressful of my life - I was already very far away from the Coliseu AND inside a train with just 5% on my phone battery! I immediately got out on the next station and ordered an Uber which took like FOREVER to arrive. Seconds felt like minutes then it finally arrived and the whole drive there I kept saying to the poor driver "FASTEEERR!". I also realized for the first time in my life that Lisbon has a LOT of red lights which was really annoying. Or maybe it's hindsight bias. Anyway, I finally get dropped off at the end of the Coliseu street with just 2 minutes until closing time and I. RAN. FOR. MY. LIFE. Keep in mind I still had to go grab the ticket at the reception desk under my name. After running like a bitch and telling my asthma not today, I arrived literally 30 seconds before the doors closed. I go to the desk, grab the ticket and meet my friend inside. Needless to say it was incredible and my seat was even better! The first show I was on the lateral balconies and my view had been a bit limited, but now I was in full frontal view of the stage and much, much closer. The funniest and strangest thing about this whole story, though? On Monday night, the day before all this happened, I ordered Chinese food off UberEats and a Fortune Cookie that came along with it had a paper inside that said "Tomorrow you can open an important door". I took a pic and jokingly sent it to another friend who's also a fan, saying "I wonder what door it will be!" He replied "Wouldn't it be funny if it's the Coliseu door? haha"... Since the ticket was "Friends & Family", I ended up framing it with the fortune cookie paper, so I can tell the story when someone comes over, lol You can also check the email here

  12. I have not watched the Material Girl video in at least 7-8 years. How cute! The remastering looks fantastic. THIS is why you do this -- it reminds people of how great she is and they re-watch or re-listen. I hope this continues. This video was on TV every thirty minutes it seemed in the 80's. It's sad that it only has 66 million views. If this had been streaming in the 80's, we'd be over a billion views by now, so this is a start ...

  13. It's not fair to say M hasn't made masterpieces with popular people in electronic music. It just wasn't that successful because Madonna was way older than women doing it. People here and in general tend to believe that a masterpiece requires an orchestra or a live band and raw vocals. There are songs considered top notch featuring simplistic lyrics, trap beats, altered vocals etc. Grimes made great, not so popular music you'd never forgive Madonna for. Lady Gaga's best song features lyrics like rah rah ah ah ah, gaga ooh lala. Call me maybe has been acclaimed. Don't confuse genre and popularity with the worth of a song. M made Give It 2 Me, I'm Addicted, Devil Pray, Messiah, Future and so much more with popular people and they are wonderful songs that could easily murder lots of her 80's and 90's hits. If people had no idea who she is, like back with Everybody, tunes from her last three albums could have gone to the stratosphere hit wise. I too want her to make a short more cohesive record but then you have most of today's artists do Spotify friendly albums of 14+ tracks and 2,5 minute songs, get away with it and get acclaim with it. Fans should trust M with the music and not use double standards too. More than half of even her worst records is pop perfection. She hasn't lost it. Her instincts are very strong, her melodies and lyrics too. We should only judge her with how she promotes the music, which she now has little idea how to.

  16. I've felt quite embarrassed watching the HD remastering of Material Girl MV... Without belittling the work of some forum geniuses, Material Girl MV now looks like a mere upscale or HD interpretation... but VERY POORLY DONE. Boost color, film grain completely gone and ridiculous moments like this: This is what I need as a fucking fan, my Gosh... and this is what normal people need on their HD/Full HD/4K monitors/televisions: People saying "it's ok...", "Better than expected..." Come on!!! "Don't go for second best" told her song. Why do we have to settle for this shit and say it's okay publicly for the benefit of Madonna's ego and/or her team? No, it is NOT okay. Where there's a will there's a way Period

  17. I love Janet but she does the same show over and over again. Same coreography, same medleys. Doing a stripped back show because you can't sell tickets has nothing to do with doing a theater show like Madame X.

  21. I agree with you, it seems random. They should have paired the HD release of Material Girl with the digital single with the remixes/instrumentals/edits available. And maybe a limited edition Material Girl picture disc (pre-order through her store, so they only print what is pre-ordered) - Marilyn Manson and Metallica do this for their fans. https://bodega.lomavistarecordings.com/products/gods-gonna-cut-you-down-limited-edition-picture-disc https://bodega.lomavistarecordings.com/collections/marilyn-manson/products/marilyn-manson-we-are-chaos-astral-vampire-picturedisc https://bodega.lomavistarecordings.com/collections/marilyn-manson/products/marilyn-manson-we-are-chaos-snot-eye-picturedisc https://bodega.lomavistarecordings.com/collections/marilyn-manson/products/marilyn-manson-we-are-chaos-infinite-darkness-picturedisc We'd all buy it up! They could even commission some Kygo remix to give it new energy. How simple and fun is that? Do one a month or every few months, but do it well.

  28. I also really like color correction, now this looks more like scene from “Gentelmen prefer blondes” that takes inspiration from. Now Madonna’s dress is pink and background is red, earlier everything was just pink.

  29. @steady75 the album version of Express Yourself on Amazon Prime Music has been replaced by an 8 minute remix on the Like A Prayer album forever. I've sent them Tweets etc but it seems to be stuck that way! So frustrating, I love the original version so much and its just not on streaming. Also cheap ass remixes may change with the next album as the gentleman who handled her cheap ass remixes has passed away.

The Fame Monster & Artpop are Gags best albums. Artpop sounds like a Greatest Hits album and I’ll be forever pressed that her relationship with her team imploded and the project was never realised properly. Artpop Is in my top ten albums of all time. Pure unadulterated pop. Her True Blue / Bad / Purple Rain. fight me.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but I find so funny that her works with trendy producers are not her best ones; at the same time it's weird to notice her masterpieces are fruits of her collaborations with unknown or not so popular producers from the underground world and in general with people who are far away from the stardom galaxy. It's definitely so hilarious and tragicomic that it worked so well for 25 years. Time to go back to it?

This. Devil Pray was Madonna trying to recreate Avicii's hit songs. At least there was some uniqueness on the album version. HC, MDNA and RH were eras where Madonna was late to the party. Timbaland, EDM and Avicii's EDM with folk elements. People are delusional to think that things could have been different if RH was closer to demo versions. Not only she wouldn't have a hit, but most of the demos (especially outtakes like Never Let You Go) were generic and basic af.

    The Sex book

I wasn't born in 1992 yet, so, sorry, no memories about it...But my mom was 20 at that time and she remember vividly all the controversies this book generated, especially in Europe. I tried to convince her to speak about it few times but she said only that in her opinion that book was a slight for the female universe, an insult to the beauty of the female body, that she could have expressed her intentions about sexuality with more respect, not debasing herself that way. I highly doubt she's ever seen those photographs or listened to the album and I have good reasons for thinking that my mother was led to have this opinion by press and the amount of awful criticisms the entire Erotica era received. As someone said, this project almost killed her career because lots of casual listeners, like my mother, were disgusted and scared by it and a good portion of them decided to stop listening her music and buying her songs: my mother has refused to buy anything else by her since 1992. The fracture was partially reset by Ray of Light, but her love hasn't been the same anymore. I have to admit that when I saw few frames of this book for the first time I was 20 and I was shocked and disgusted, I couldn't believe someone had the courage to speak about sex with so much liberty, exposing every side of it, every aspect, even the most violent ones, and being raised as catholic didn't help me at all, especially since I live in a small, conservative village, where nothing exists but the priest; even after almost 30 years this ironic book did its job marvelously and shocked another puritan member of the society: I was one of them before I met it and her. In some way, it changed my mind about this topic, showing me that there's nothing demonic in sex or sexuality, that love has no color, no label, no secrets, no limits, and, I know it can sound strange, pain and plasure are different faces of the same aspect, a modern and obscure version of the romantic Greek statement Eros and Thanatos, love and death. In the end, what impressed me the most is that all the bad press this book received crafted a distorted projection of Madonna and her career: when I was a baby, journalists still continued to focus only on her sexual controversies, with no interest on her real messages: everything was reduced to her appeal and body, the inner sense of her performances was buried under tons of comments about her age (I remember she was almost 50 when I started to hear about her), her toned body, her family and so on.That's why I was skeptic about her at the beginning: foolishly I was led to believe she was the mother of all those trivial popstars I saw reluctantly on MTV, who were only a dancing body with zero meaningful ideas. They did a great job, yes. I really hope the following years will do justice to this part of her career, which is worth of every single second a person could spend to understand it.

It’s badly mastered but the energy of the song still manages to come through. Imagine if it was mastered properly. Also she must have seen something in it early on for it to be the only other track released with an acoustic version
