  3. THANK YOU!!! Finally, someone gets it. The last four albums truly do have incredible music on them, and it's a real shame that so much of this work doesn't get the proper respect and credit it truly deserves, especially from some 'fans'. As someone who has consumed the pop music of the last 30 something years, and certainly seen what some of these acts of the last 10 to 15 years have put out, I will gladly take M's contemporary work any day over this other "stuff". Particularly from some of the obvious names previously mentioned in this thread, who, in my opinion, are nothing but derivative, glorified tribute acts to everything better that has come before in the last 30-something years. Thanks, but no thanks. Not to mention her tours, that in the last decade are just as ambitious and artistically driven as they've ever been. I can't see any of these others continuing on as such, on that level, into their 40s, 50s, and 60s, while refusing to settle into nostalgia act territory. Let alone pulling back and reinventing once again in a theater format. Then there's her music video game that brought some of her strongest visual work she's done with just the last album alone. That doesn't touch on her tour visuals which are a work of art unto themselves. (Let alone conception, design, staging and choreography). Sadly, I feel that she can't even catch a break with her own fanbase at times. And sadly, this 'third chapter' (and the incredible, unprecedented things it's bringing that you will NOT see from these others) won't truly be understood, nor appreciated, until many years from now. Such is life.

  7. Sycophants on a fan forum should never be a shock, but somehow, they always are. The lack of any critical thought towards Madge is seen as a virtue, when it's anything but. You just turn into mindless "Yes" people, while performing mental gymnastics to uplift even the worst bits into godlike successes.

  17. it's gonna be a great release. The live concert was really good. The vibe will be there, it is impossible not to have the theatre vibe from footage inside a theatre. There were a few things happening on stage that would be highlighted for sure, maybe some fast cuts here and there. Before the tour starts, there were musicians playing on the side of the stage instrumental acoustic versions of 4-5 of her tracks to warm up the people. That was a nice vibe and hope it will be included of some sort. The tour intro is really good and sets the mood. expecting fast pace editing that leads to her entrance. God Control has to be slow in the beginning and then ramp up. Dark Ballet she's on the piano, the dancers with masks dance to contemporary style choreo, loved it. Would be nice visually. Human Nature would have to include close ups, very nice visuals in the circle space and the highlight, the headstand as well another highlight her playing the conga drums. Express Yourself could be included , would be nice to have this moment. Madame X Manifesto and the mirror part, stunning. Plus a few speeches here and here in between. Vogue fast paced editing hopefully! I Don't Search I Find with a nice retro cinematic editing, very nice performance Polaroid section, hope it includes many segments from various shows! American life, finally the rap part live but hope to be recorded again over in studio , to sound live but better cause she screamed so much it was a bit painful! Coffin intro very moving interesting concept! Set the mood for Batuka. Batuka , personal highlight! Batukadeiras emerge from the crowd, M looks stunning and it is very intimate and powerful! Fado introduction and fado song cover to set the mood for Killers. Killers , very intimate too. Overall that section was super intimate and that would def. reflect on the edit. Crazy was good, expect a chill vibe. Welcome to my fado club..1 2 cha cha cha ... got the floor moving and she was having fun! Sodade, again super intimate! expecting very chill editing and vibes. Countdown in portuguese, Medellin intro + Medellin , an ethnic party, expecting fast paced editing! Beer section and crowd interaction felt very organic, hopefully this will also reflect on camera. Extreme Occident, the choreo and stage setup + lighs were amazing, roads highlighted on the stage then M on spinning stairs, expecting a great edit there! Justify, contemporary dance intro Frozen, highlight + lola + M in the center and no other words necessairy. Come Alive, bright and colorful, dancing and fast edits here and there. Future, M playing the piano and using extra lyrics, highlight for me! Can't wait to see the closeups! Crave, loved the remix, fun edit! Like a Prayer, highlight, got the whole floor up and dancing. I rise, powerful encore, Madonna leaves amidst the crowd. +++ Would not mind if between sections the live was cut and there was backstage or discussions about culture to introduce certain parts of the show. For many crowed the heavy cultural influences she had this era especially from Portugal are not really understood or appreciated. +++ Her vocals were the best vocals we got from her on a live tour since Drowned World and when we hear it I believe we ll be more than satisfied!! She sounded amazing live!! well that's all for me. expecting a really cool outcome, keeping my positivity and appreciating this amazing period of time where Madonna (re)discovered a lot of things and that reflected on her work. I understand that everyone has their preferences and the fans come from very different places and backgrounds but this era should be appreciated and celebrated as artistically, it was insanely good! I don't miss her anger and I do welcome her vulnerability . To finish this off, although I tried to keep it positive it is really starting getting on my nerves the name calling and the constant struggle to undermine her while supporting her. She's Madonna, she's not anyone's bitch, she will never give you want you want but she will always give you something you never knew you wanted and I wish people would stop being so bitter about it. If you made it through all of this, thank you for your time !

  23. She definitely isn't voiceless or talentless. I'm not a huge fan but some of her live performances have really blew me away. She has a great voice, there is no question about it. She might not be to your style but she can definitely sang!

  24. I dont believe in biblical mythology with concepts like 'the devil aka satan' to begin with, so the whole thing is just a joke to me. You know what scares me more than anything, people jumping to conclusions based on a vague feeling they have, that you can't reason with and already made up their mind that no matter what they are right. Those type of people are capable of anything. Conspiracy theories and delusions seem to become more and more prevalent and social media plays into their delusion.

  29. Are you a Russian bot? If you don’t understand what something is, you really shouldn’t be shouting from a rooftop about it. First of all the topic being discussed has NOTHING to do with Black Lives Matter. so I’m sorry to everyone for continuing this, but somethings just have to be done. Second... anyone who takes a full two minutes out of their life and googles what BLM want... it isn’t to completely get rid of police. It is to make them less responsible for non violent crimes. They will still respond to violent crime. But there is no need for police with guns to respond to every single thing. The money they save will then be put into programs that help the community. People of color are being shot because they were asleep in their car. Had someone WITHOUT a gun and a bad attitude responded to the call, this person would still be alive. George Floyd was suspected of using a counterfeit 20 Dollar Bill. That should not have been a death sentence. Eric Garner was selling loose cigarettes... and last but not least, just because you are half Black or mixed or whatever you identify as, you can still be racist and/or dumb. Donald Trump isn’t a racist because he’s a Republican. He’s a racist because he’s openly said racist shit about Mexicans, made fun of the disabled, is constantly trying to strip away transgendered rights, calls Black Lives Matter protestors thugs and violent criminals, but calls white supremacists “very fine people” and white protestors with Assault Rifles angry patriots, or whatever the hell he said. Harassed Obama claiming he wasn’t American or was a Muslim... His entire campaign is run on fear. Saying racist shit about China. It’s the China flu... blah blah blah... Maybe it did come from there, but were the #1 country of Covid now... because of him and his dumb ass. We’re 6 months into a pandemic and he just YESTERDAY urged people to wear a mask for the first time. You should really consider stop watching Fox News and pull your fucking head out of your ass.

  35. I'd argue that Pet Shop Boys have a terrific discography, and they've had the luck of having a shitty period mid-career, instead of being on a 15-year-long slog of diminishing returns... Their early singles run is also as good as The Immaculate Collection. I mean, Madame X is a pretty great, fun record, but barely anyone cares at this point. The less said about the voice, the better. Generally, it's like a terrible 1-2 punch of bad music we had to endure, and an unparalleled access to the ugly, boring truth of who Madonna actually is via her unpolished, obnoxious daily updates. I mean, this is obviously my personal take, but I just don't see her as this thought-provoking genius as I did before. She had a fantastic 25-year run, from "Everybody" until the end of The Confessions Tour. The rest is just like watching a TV show you loved after they jumped the shark. Capitalism doesn't let you go out while you're on top. Everything has to have a remake, re-invention, artificial extension, until they leave you behind. Sometimes I wonder if we would've gotten MDNA or even Rebel Heart if she didn't have to tour, and that's kind of a cynical worldview. Maybe this pandemic is a blessing in disguise, since she might be able to do music without the external pressure of multi-million earnings for the touring moguls.

  39. I agree that the evolution of the marketplace and Madonna’s age are pivotal to how she is perceived, but disagree with your perception of her not being comfortable with her diminished stature in the world of pop culture. Yes, these are changing times, but every pop star in all genres still reveres Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince. It’s inescapable because they did everything so amazingly well. I’m not sure who you think has improved on her “shtick”, but I can’t think of anyone who has done this at all. Can you share?

  40. If she had become cheesy she would be very popular. Look at elton John and cher and even gaga, that's what they do basically. The problem with Madonna is that she never does what people expect of her, it does not mean that what she does is good, it's just that she does not behave the way social media imposes to people how to behave. She triggers uneasiness in people. That's the contrary of cheesy.
    1 point
  41. Alright, so I'm not sure that cheesy would be the word to use. But I do believe she has relaxed certain qualities of who she used to be. But I also think she is in a different part of her career and life. The Super Bowl performance was made to appeal to the audience of the Super Bowl. It was also basically the ONLY promotion she did and therefore I would argue ALOT was riding on it. No room for controversy or political statements. There wasn't time for a story ARC of dark to light, so there was really only a choice to be a smiley performer. As far as features... LMFAO was a bit cringey, but it was also a HUGE song at the time, as was Gangnam Style which she featured later at MSG in NYC. Is that her usual style? No. But with a decline in general public awareness, it inserts herself into the zeitgeist. It also, looking back, creates this magnificent graveyard of artists who have come and gone throughout her unusually long career. There's less than a handful who are still relevant today, I would argue. LMFAO and Cee Lo being some of the deaths along with past collabs like Meshell Ndegeocello, Prince, Britney (No Tea No Shade), Babyface, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland etc. I didn't find "I'm the Queen" thing to be cringey. I thought it to be appropriate at a time when someone was basically doing karaoke versions of her performances and looks (along with other artists as well) and don't get me wrong, I love Gaga. But perhaps it needed to be said. Because then Gaga changed her tune and put on a pink cowboy hat and it hasn't really happened since. I can't really argue with her billboard performance. Im not really sure what that was. I thought Future was amazing!!!! minus the horrible off key singing in Like a Prayer. The look, the choreo... one of her best IMHO. I think when it comes to TV performances.. they are never really her best. She does best on a tour stage when she can ease herself into a show. Hence why I would say she usually starts a show with pre recorded vocals. She needs to receive some validation before she relaxes. She doesn't get to do that in a TV performance. I think Hung Up the EMAs was an exception, but also the crowd looked like a concert too..... so IDK. Now, she's smoking pot often with her new boyfriend, acting like Avril Lavigne with her punk rock pink hair half-assed rock star look, and going maskless to re-enforce her "royal" status. I dont agree with any of this. Whys it gotta be punk because she got pink hair? Everybody got weird colored hair now. And going maskless to re-enforce... girl what? That is called a projection of how you feel. I think she doesn't have the general public behind her as much now, honestly, because there are so many bitches who do what she does now, but better to a certain degree. It's not quite as intellectual, which is where Madonna succeeds now... but I mean to quote herself she's not the best singer, and she's not the best dancer... and she's not as fuckable at 60, which has always been a defining feature of her brand. Guys would literally be scared of her, but still want to fuck her. They would literally not be interested in her music, but still want to see what the she was doing, because they wanted to fuck her. Dont get me wrong.. sometimes she still looks amazing and I can see she's still got it. but it's inevitable she's not going to pull in people like she used to. But she's reached a status that most artists dont reach, and that's the legacy acts. She will have a job until she decides to not have a job. She's up there with Paul McCartney and Tina Turner and Elton John and Billy Joel and Celine Dion ...there's not many others. After a stellar album like Madame X, I don't see how anyone could say she's cheesy. She does have cheesy moments tho. As far as her instagram... I think people read too hard into it. I think she's being herself. Which when you are talking about instagram ...I think that's a rare thing. I appreciate it. I prefer it.

  42. I can confirm that's not true; it's just the way the line: "Life is a mystery" sounds backwards. Madonna did admittedly wear a Lucifer ring on the Arsenio Hall show in 1992; whether Lucifer or Satan are the same being is up for debate. Satanism is very diverse; some Satanists are non-Theistic and see Satan as a symbol that represents repressed forces of nature, as for Theistic Satanists, they either see him as the biblical figure or an entity that predates Christianity (and they may link him to Set, Marduk, Enki, Tiamat, Ahriman and so on). More info: https://vkjehannum.wordpress.com/2016/05/21/lucifer-is-never-sometimes-always-satan/ https://vkjehannum.wordpress.com/?s=satan https://vkjehannum.wordpress.com/2016/11/01/satanism-is-not-a-reaction-to-christianity/ Madonna does not come across as Satanist to me since she's aligning herself more w/ the biblical god Yahweh and the right hand path. Also, occult imagery and symbolism are not always necessarily Satanic; it depends on the actual intent of the artists involved. Besides, Madonna sings or speaks against Satan or The Devil in Justify My Love (The Beast Within Mix), Intervention and Devil Pray.

  43. The Eurovision performance had a clear apocalyptic theme because of everything that's going on in the world. There are many times when she's done this, like the Ghosttown video or releasing a song like 4 Minutes. There were serious problems in the world before Covid-19 hit, but it's curious that some people only tune in when something directly affects them.

  46. Most Trump supporters are not QAnons, i was specifically talking about QAnons. I absolutely did not talk about the rest of the stuff you said nor it is the topic discussed here. Maybe you had to get it out of your chest, good for you. I talked about QAnons because they are the ones leaving comments about Madonna's satanism on Instagram but also about her taking adrenochrome drug and pedophilia. They are the ones behind pizzagate too. Madonna is not their sole famous target. They also are the ones making all these conspiracy theories online bout coronavirus being a hoax made by democrats. They also make all these anti masks memes. Today Twitter finally adressed the matter and banned them and their publications. They are a fringe of the Trump supporters, radical & self proclaimed white supremacists.

  47. Madonna is way too tame, vanilla and mainstream by comparison to be considered an occult artist. The notion itself is quite silly. It's not like she's Marilyn Manson, Led Zeppelin or death/doom metal and death rock bands that adorn their work with symbols, sigils and other references to the Dark Lord ?? Now go listen to Coven's 1969 album Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls and see if the horned beast gets your motor going ?️
