I really don't understand why you're being so tragic. You are spreading fake news! She confirmed they are working on it two days ago! The only complaint is that it will take months and might be released in 2021.

  10. I'm in the minority of fans who think this is the project where she'll be good as the director. Why? Because that's the only thing she's good at directing - herself. Her story. I can assure you we're gonna get a 100% Madonna film.

  11. I’m so excited. I hope for a Soundtrack to go with it....with remixed songs and hits and new songs/scores as well.

  12. Nope, the movie is with Universal Pictures. Her recording contract doesn't have anything to do with it, but that might have brought leverage.

  13. From Madonna.com: UNIVERSAL PICTURES ANNOUNCES FILM BASED ON THE UNTOLD TRUE STORY OF MADONNA September 15, 2020 Madonna is Co-Writing the Original Screenplay with Academy Award® Winner Diablo Cody, and the Project will be Produced by Three-Time Academy Award® Nominee Amy Pascal UNIVERSAL CITY, CA—September 15, 2020 — Universal Pictures today announced that the studio is developing an ALL-NEW untitled project based on one of the world’s most influential icons, Madonna, who over an indelible five-decade career has had a groundbreaking impact as a musician, actress, director, author and entrepreneur who informs every aspect of global culture, transforming our understanding of art, sexuality, feminism and the role of women in entertainment. Madonna will direct the project and is co-writing the script with Academy Award® winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Tully). Three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Pascal (Little Women, The Post, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the Academy Award®-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), will produce for her Universal-based Pascal Pictures alongside Madonna. Sara Zambreno and Guy Oseary will executive produce. “I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” said Madonna. “The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.” “Madonna is the ultimate icon, humanitarian, artist and rebel. With her singular gift of creating art that is as accessible as it is boundary-pushing, she has shaped our culture in a way very few others have,” said Donna Langley, Chairman, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. “It’s an incredible honor for everyone at Universal to work alongside her, Diablo, and Amy to bring audiences and dedicated fans around the world her unvarnished story for the first time.” “This movie is an absolute labor of love for me,” said Amy Pascal. “I have known Madonna since we made A League of Their Own together, and I can’t imagine anything more thrilling than collaborating with her and Diablo on bringing her true-life story to the big screen with Donna and our partners at Universal.”

I thought it was masterfully edited, the whole backwards story telling was really well done. Not easy to pull off and that gives me hope the Tour DVD will also have great editing.

Comparing Hung Up to God Control is like comparing La Isla Bonita to American Life, literally beside the point. I can't wait for the DVD. It was my absolute favourite time seeing her live (I've seen every tour since 2004) - the show was beautiful and I'm looking forward to seeing how it translates to the screen.

  18. Yeah, and to be honest she's not bad at all at directing, she actually has a good eye. W.E. was amazingly done and way better than many movies done by "professional directors", by all standards - cinematography, soundtrack, casting... The problem is that she just isn't taken seriously in the film industry. And then fans get mad when something of hers flops. But we should ask ourselves: it's her story, we're gonna be seeing it through her eyes. Isn't that exactly what we want? Who cares if people are gonna judge on it and think it's "narcissistic"? People nowadays think having a mere basic self-esteem is "narcissism" anyway... and almost 40 years later and she has nothing more to prove, so SHE wants to tell it like she WANTS it. Because she earned that right. She did it all alone in the end. She powered through several backlashes all alone and even had people around her undermining her, including husbands. I'm gonna be here for it and wouldn't have it any other way than this. It will be like being in a room with her, just the two of us, while she tells me her story. Would you want David Fincher in that room instead?

  19. You could be right I hope you are - would love a biopic of her life to be brilliant and she will certainly be committed to making it good. I suppose her only good film roles are where she has played characters that most like herself so maybe the same will apply for Directing too

  20. Even if she’s great, the publicity around her as an actress and a director is bad. I wish she let the one who did Bohemian Rhapsody do it or some art house film director like Luca Guadagnino or something like that.

  22. It was a slang saying she picked up from Jose & Luis, hence "BOOTS!" in The Immaculate Collection thank yous after thanking them. I took it to mean "cool!" or something like that.

  23. I love how she looks in the video walking down the streets in Harlem - am glad they changed it but to be fair hard to compare just on a photo might have looked great on the video I think Secret is one of her best songs and videos ever

I mean... if you look closely at the released footage there are hints to how much they've done so far. And I would say they are further along than she alluded to in the Facebook Live video. All the footage was in order of setlist. Seems like they've already got their angles and the whole show mapped out. There are also various effects already added to parts of the show to enhance or fix what didn't translate in a certain shot for the screen. We got two shots being blended together in Frozen. We got Lourdes superimposed on Madonna at a specific angle that could not have been achieved with just camera work in Frozen. We have text superimposed over her boyfriend in the opening scenes so you can still read the words when they use a close up of him. Some sort of movement special effect in Dark Ballet. Black and White filter on IDSIF. And what seems to possibly be a red filter on Vogue. And that's just the small bits we can see so far. I know what her wording was in the Facebook Live, but I don't think they are "just beginning" editing.

  33. Maybe she will do a tour focusing on the back catalogue and not the new material if she realises how much people love her entire catalogue of music and limiting the shows to almost all new material is not really what most fans want lol
    1 point
  34. This kills me! I have always wondered if she had copies of all the old material, especially from the early NYC days. She knew Pat Leonard released "Angels With Dirty Faces" and never acknowledged it. Also, during her Instagram live session last week someone mention "Tragic Girl" and she said she didn't if she had a song by that title. It would be so nice if she was ahead of the collectors and released everything.

  37. Spotlight Ray Of Light or Music?
    1 point
  38. Exactly this yes! Madonna isn’t just an indie artist who produces her work at home by herself. She has a team and that team can handle different aspects of her career. Just because part of the team is working on remasters and legacy content doesn’t mean she can’t focus on her future, especially when her new albums take 3-5 years nowadays. And yes, all these remasters and releases better be ready to come by the time the movie premiere to get the hype going. There should be interviews and viral marketing too.

  39. Not to mention her own name - Madonna - is the name of Jesus' mother in Italian. So Madonna, the mother, dies after giving birth to Madonna, the daughter who would become the most famous woman in (modern) history, like Jesus. Then Madonna, the daughter, becomes Madonna the mother. It all ties up beautifully like a divine story. Almost like it was meant to be...

I don't get why some of you keep thinking this is cancelled. The tour ended a few months ago, she literally said they're just back at the editing since the pandemic put that on hold. The previous tours dvds were released very late, so this situation is not different than what we are used to. She will release this dvd.

  41. The director was wrong. That Jean harlow exagerated hairstyle was really specific and original. The other hairstyle had already kinda been seen several times before the "Secret" video and wasn't really new or exciting. The Harlow big hairstyle was unsual, had a strong image and a impact, it had its own identity, just like the cowboy hat the black wig from Frozen. That harlow hairstyle was amazing with the rnb beat of the song, while M walking down the streets of Harlem. Iconic. The director played it safe and it's not the way to go with Madonna' work. No wonder she hasn't worked with her after that.

  42. I think they should start organizing the spotify catalogue at least, put the original albums, not the reisues, there are songs in his 12' remix version instead of the original, like dress you up, the cover of "madonna" has a black stain in M's nose, Pray for Spanish Eyes has a glitch at the beggining, etc, Madonna doesn't deserve this

  43. I love that she stays current but she's doing a huge disservice to her legacy. The way the 90s have been rewritten as if she wasn't around is so sad tbh. Remastering her videos, and making sure her catalog is accessible (and the correct versions in good quality) is key to not only gaining new fans who may look past her stuff because it mostly looks and sounds decent to bad in today's standard but to gain money on all those fans who are mostly into her older stuff. Yeah, we know she doesn't want them to be happy lol but make some money off them mom!
