  1. I think most of us will agree on that. But denying what's been done until now just because some people don't like it it's quite silly. It's not like we've had nothing since the announcement. Not only the constant digital single releases, some of them with rare promo stuff never commercially available before, but also the video remasters, the special physical releases AND "Finally Enough Love", which was a quite good remixes compilation, again including promo stuff never released before. Also, I think some people should adjust their expectations. She's had almost everything leaked in the past, so when we're talking about "unreleased" stuff... she can announce "Madonna 40" with 10-12 Emmy/Pre-Madonna demos and of course still won't be new and unheard for most die-hard fans. She can add "Ain't No Big Deal" and it won't be "new" either, etc. etc. Some people will never be happy. I expect major meltdowns too with the first album reissue tracklist... but first let's get to that stage.

  2. Most people want unreleased stuff, that is what we expect and are waiting for. Everything released so far has been a bit boring sorry to say. People can justify it and make whatever excuses they want but that's the opinion of the vast majority.

  6. Exactly. Whyd they announce this so early without anything ready. I feel like the signed the deal and announced it IMMEDIATELY without a single aspect completed I would love a documentary on how this happens as well. Like do they have all the tapes they need in that warehouse of her stuff and they sat together while Madonna said no to a bunch of the tracks
    3 points
  7. Yeah, I expect major meltdowns as well. Because like you mentioned, if she does include demos, etc., much of it has leaked already. So it won't be "new". The only difference it will be officially available. But that won't be good enough for others because you can bet some will say, we already had access to that stuff. Well, that's not Madonna's doing. She never approved for those demos to be shared and heard. As for what has been released so far, I hardly call "Finally Enough Love" boring. That took some undertaking to produce and was indeed a great remix compilation. It's not even been a year since that's been released. Between all the digital, promo releases, the video remasters and physical releases, that's far more than we've gotten in one year's time at any part of her career. And I know some fans aren't keen with the remixes of Frozen, Material Gworl and Hung Up, but that was all new stuff.

  8. I agree in retrospective, that the mix of the criticism of the american dream or live style or values mixed with the antiwar message was a little too much of a extravaganza for the regular people, all mixed in a videoclip with Madonna rapping about having 3 nannies and trainers, and then you find in the album Madonna mostly singing folkie songs about family values. I mean, look at how well executed was the ROL concept of being in peace, and reborn with her daughter, and being shining like a ROL with very electronic but warm music, and the new beggining, that´s why the audiences embraced it with passion.

  9. Thank you. I'm boggled by how some re-narrate this deal. Yes, there is mention of re-issuing remastered deluxe versions of landmark albums, but this deal encompasses so much more. But since we've not gotten such even though none of her albums have reached the 40th landmark (which this is celebrating), people are expecting it NOW! It specifically says in the press statement that it's a "multi-year deal". It includes much more than just the albums. It includes singles and other curated works such as FEL. And how quick people are dismissing Erotica and Everybody re-issue. Even if one wants to dismiss FEL (which is ridiculous), "Everybody" was re-issued in part of this deal. Like you, I don't find it strange she hasn't talked about this deal. Not like anyone really asked her about it, nor has she done enough interviews to really be asked. I'm convinced there are some 'fans' who won't be happy unless it's done precisely like they want. They will never satisfied. Madonna and her team aren't trying to piss off fans. That's just ridiculous to even think. Unfortunately, there are things beyond our knowledge and control that will effect what is released. No other artist I know has successfully released or honored their catalog like fans want. Why? Because fans expect WAY too much. They set themselves up for disappointment by re-interpretating what has been said, or re-narrate what is supposed to happen. If anything, we've gotten more in the last year or two than we've gotten in such a long long time. And lately, it seems we're getting stuff almost on a weekly basis especially on the digital and streaming front. Do I think things can be more organized and perfected? Yes! But, we don't know all the legalities and access to what is available to release. It's easy to think that any demo can be released or certain remixes should be included, but as mentioned, too many legalities and such that may prevent what we would consider a perfect release.

  12. I also find it really strange that M has not talked about this deal even once in interviews - does no one else think that strange - and yes i agree with the previous posters - its been over 18 months and not ONE unreleased song or full album box set ( sorry but i dont count FEL) or any of the other one-off releases - tired of waiting for that first deluxe box set....

  20. As a reminder regarding that "demos" cd, all the leaked American Life sessions demos that have leaked are registered and nowhere are the ones mentionned on that cd. Process and Can't You See My Mind both have separate registrations than Xstatic Process and Die Another Day. Here are all the Mirwais unreleased (officially) registered tracks with Madonna from various sources of legal registration (Sacem, BMI, Biem)

  21. Exactly. There must be tons of demos in her drawers. All those songs she wrote back in the 80s and 90s. I'd love to hear a demo for White Heat. Or Causing A Commotion. Or Gambler... IF she shooses to include demos, they will be a part of her vision of the reissues, and we can finally listen to them with her approval. Some will probably be familiar to people from this forum, but to the world outside of us, they will be a brand new and exciting listening experience. Meltdowns DeLuxe WILL occur the second the reissues are announced. Some people seem to LIVE to complain.

  22. I, for myself, personnaly, in my own opinion (i'm trying to emphasize as much as i can hahaha) could not care less about Finally Enough Love. I did not buy it and won't buy it. I think half of it is great and half of it is pure trash. I've never bought GHV2 as well (i bought Celebration though, expecting good remasters...). I don't care about the remixes on streaming plateforms, that's great for her, it increases her numbers and rank on those and it gives her more exposure but i truly couldn't less give a fuck about it. I listen to them once they are released and then, never again. I enjoyed the Frozen and Hung Up remixes more because, at least, it was something new. This is like microwaved doggy bag to me BUT necessary for her for the aforementioned reasons. And i did not buy commemorative vinyls because i'm not a material boy and have no fetish for objects. But that's just me. I just want to hear mythical demos (for fans) before i die or lose my earing. And at this pace, in 40 years that's how it's gonna be. I get it, she's not making money with these reissues and today, increasing Spotify views is more important for an artist. I get it, i understand it butlike i said before, i don't give a flying fuck about it. And i think adults on Tik Tok are desperate. Young people too because it's such a fucking redneck thing. I mean, there's nothing more sad than those videos of Home Depot employees doing choreos to fucking Disney ballads. It makes me wanna drink bleach. So these tracks of hers trending on that lame thing really "m'en touche une sans bouger l'autre" i say it in french because at least you'll not have read my lame ass comment up until here without getting something out of it for your time. "M'en toucher une sans bouger l'autre" is a vulgar expression of disdain litteraly meaning "it bumps on one of my balls but not the other one" (one of late president Chirac favourite expression).

  25. You don't count/care about "FEL" but "FEL" counts as the first big release on this campaign: "Finally kicks off a multi-year initiative to reissue all her past albums, remastered, which will include previously unheard versions and rarities so mythic the reveal of them could send certain corners of the Madonna fandom into bouts of foaming-at-the-mouth hysteria." https://www.papermag.com/madonna-cover-2657875747.html We're probably gonna see only one big release each year and all the little goodies along the way. The next one should be the first album reissue/expanded edition, in July/August. Why should she talk about the deal? It's business. She's never gone into detail with that in the past. And it's not like she's done a million interviews lately anyway.

  35. Why would Madonna release radio edits of Love Don’t Live Here Anymore instead of the full versions? As an AI language model, I don't have access to Madonna's thoughts or decision-making process regarding her music releases. However, generally speaking, an artist may release a radio edit of a song instead of the full version for several reasons. One possible reason is that radio edits are typically shorter than the full versions of a song. Radio stations have limited airtime, and they prefer to play shorter versions of songs to fit more music into their programming. Therefore, a radio edit may be more likely to get airplay and exposure than a full version. Another reason could be that the radio edit is more commercially appealing to a wider audience. The radio edit may have been reworked to have a catchier chorus, a more accessible sound, or be more upbeat, making it more likely to be popular on the radio and in other mainstream media. It's also possible that Madonna released a radio edit of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" simply because she wanted to provide different versions of the song for her fans to enjoy. Artists often release multiple versions of their songs to cater to different audiences and tastes, and a radio edit may be one of those versions.

  39. I remember in the early 00's that dispute between M and Warner specially that "Impressive Instant vs Amazing" drama. I even recall reading about Warner comissioning Friburn & Urik to remix Amazing (I wonder if those mixes exists). During the period of American Life creation process there were constant reports about Warner not being convinced about the super electronic sound and extreme vocoder use. (I was happy with that electronic direction, trying to imagine the possible new era sound). I remember the rumours about a new track called X-static process being super electronic and edgy, so I was surprised when I heared the acoustic toned down final result, but learned to love it . Maybe some tracks evolved to a more acoustic sound for a personal decision or that dispute between M and Warner, guess will never know. (Unless some of that reported ultra edgy sound demos surface someday )

  41. And it's more fitting, especially with American Life the song. Patty Hearst was an heir to the Hearst fortune whom was kidnapped and then shared the revolutionary far left views of her kidnappers and joined them, questioning the values of her family and the american capitalist way of life. And then she came back to an heir again...just like Madonna bought a huge house in Beverly Hills in may 2003 and made deals with Estée Lauder and Gap.

  42. Of all the covers of Madonna's albums, I prefer those that focus on her face and the emotions that Madonna wants to convey. The illusion of first love on the cover of True Blue, the unbridled eroticism and sensual ecstasy on the cover of Erotica, the spirituality and purity of the soul in Ray of Light, etc. In the case of American Life, one of my favorite albums, it is the coldness, harshness and insensitivity expressed in Madonna's gaze due to living in such a violent and bloody environment as war (and where death and suffering of the human being is an everyday thing) the emotions that I manage to distinguish. That is why I love that this was the official cover of all the alternatives that there were (like the one where she is holding a weapon) because there are no other elements that distract our attention and make us lose sight of the message that Madonna originally wants to convey.

  43. But how was this shoot so expensive, it looks like it was just a studio, a couple of printed backgrounds and a flag, I know Craig McDean is a respected fashion photographer but he can't have been the highest paid at the time? Would love someone to share some outtakes one day. I really want to see the images with the red spray paint background and peg letter board.

  44. Maybe. Or she just wanted to create controversy out of nothing again. The Black Madonna cover couldn't really justify the rest of the album. I enjoyed the little statements on her last album covers though. Her name sewn across her lips, the wires around her face, her shattered image on the broken mirror. In the 00's she always had kinda strong triumphant and liberated poses. I like that contrast to the 10's. And the albums got deeper.

  45. Mmmmh... not... It's not the good one, there was a sleeve with a real long gun in her hands. This one is drawn on the picture and fake... I don't know where that is but it exists

  47. Well they're still selling them and making money out of them or trading them for other things like blow jobs apparently. Also, considering the uproar Madonna has caused over leaks in the past (smashing ipods and sending people to jail) maybe people are TOO SCARED to leak stuff these days?
