Hey guys, so I shared here a few weeks ago a custom Madonna Monopoly I made in 2012 for a fellow fan-friend: https://madonna-infinity.net/forums/topic/27487-custom-madonna-monopoly-i-made-a-few-years-ago/ I decided to an updated one with her remaining work from 2013-2021, and since 3D printing is now a thing + my designing skills have gotten better with age lol, here is the final result of the updated Madonna Monopoly! BOARD TOKENS - X from Madame X - Disco Ball from the Confessions Tour - Microphone - Gaultier Cone Bra Bustier - Like a Prayer Cross - Music Horseshoe (missing in the pics) MONEY TRUTH + DARE cards (truth = positive things, dare = negative things) MDNA STAGES (equal houses) REBEL HEART STAGES (equal hotels) TITLE DEEDS GO TO JAIL/IN JAIL (from Secret Project Revolution) FREE PARKING (Mini Cooper from the American Life censored video) RULEBOOK I had so much fun doing it, I'm especially proud of the tiny 3D printed stages, they look sooo cool and really add another level of fun to the gameplay And if you're interested in getting one, message me (:16 points

It’s quite clear to me that Warner’s were not yes men. The second they were out of her way the quality control dipped. Madonna won her freedom but doesn’t like the commercial dip that comes with making that move and you can tell in some of her recent interviews and general uncertain energy at points. The sales and being number one seemed to give her unshakable confidence.3 points

Madame X it's great, but has the same problem like MDNA and RH had - her biggest problem from last decade. Too many compromises. On MDNA it's obvious - great songs combined with pop shit. On RH - on this album is less visible, but still (Bitch I'm Madonna). On MX it's the same. God Control and Dark Ballet are not flowing with songs like Bitch I'm Loca or Crave. These albums sounds like they are combined with two diffrent minialbums into one.... It's not the same Madonna. It's like "oh i'm doing a record, but i'm a little affraid with this material, so for sure we need a 3 more commercial songs". I prefer when she's doing albums in "one sound". Don't get me wrong. I looooove (i craaaaave) for Crave, but it's just a nice rnb song, nothing special. But i am okay with final result of MX - maybe if she focused more on portugese inspirations it would become more cohesive, but i can't blame her - Maluma is tempting, so she craveeeeed.3 points -
I'll Remember is her graduation song. Vitamin C could never. Her makeup was stunning in the video. Still gets massive play at CVS.3 points

I don’t know what all you are complaining about. Madame X is a career highlight! If she continues on that path I am so content! I want Mirwais and Madonna x1000. If she has more Madame X demos release them as an experimental EP. and include the OG Future without awful Quavo. I wanna grind to political music when the world opens3 points

Madonna/Marilyn Monroe
NowRadiate and one other reacted to Erlend for a topic
That's not quite the way I remembers it. The Madonna/Marilyn facinated the public, and while she no doubt was criticised for it from some quarters, there was also this feeling that Madonna embraced the old Hollywood glamour in a creativ way. Madonna lived out her fantasy and changed her looks frequently (from Marilyn to Mae West). Up to a certaint point this was seemed as something creativ, and it kind of embraced the notions of a post-modern society.2 points -

Again, you're welcome to dislike what he's doing, there are valid reasons for it and it's your prerogative. But claiming he ruined her reputation as a live act is so over the top (and objectively untrue) that it's simply amusing and it actually undermines your argument.2 points

More popular? Her debacle started after that. Artpop and Juanita and also Chromatica weren't so well recieved like the previous material, and she was under the radar to see 'what is her next copy'. Only Shallow and that horrible movie (really good marketed tbh) saved her career.2 points -

I wonder if instead of these random HD upscales that sometimes happen due to anniversaries, sometimes not, if they instead focused on an era or a cycle like Alanis' team did by going back to the original film negatives of the JLP videos and remastering them in 4k to coincide with a new commemorative edition of that era (in M's case e.g. 2021 - True Blue 35th anniversary), Warner and whoever from M's team could be convinced to spend the money to actually do this right and we could finally have her catalogue taken care of as well as it deserves to be. I do like the color correction in the MG video a lot, though.2 points -

actually it was the other way around, I'll Remember started getting massive airplay regardless of her shenanigans and at the time she went on Letterman the song was just released (only one week old or so) and was still gaining airplay and sales and then it hit its peak about 2 months after so it may even have helped in a weird way...the song remained on the recurrent charts for moths after that too last week on the charts was in Jan 1995 I believe2 points -
I can't believe that she had Stuart for only 3 tours and Keving for 4 of them, and maybe till the end of her career! I was watching Kylie's infinited Disco, and definetly the way she reinvented the songs, or made them sound live and emotional reminded me of the amazing work that Stuart did for Madonna. THE TRANSITIONS BETWEEN EACH SONG! Were amazing. Now it sounds like if she has an ipod conected to the speakers and when a song is over, someone press play for the next one.2 points

Kevin Antunes destroyed Madonna's reputation as a Live Act.
MDNA22 reacted to RebelHeartbreak for a topic
Kevin Antunes inherited the musical director position from Stuart Price who had completed with 3 stellar arena tours with good albums to pull from, and let’s not forget he produced the bulk of confessions, too. He spent pretty much ALL of 2004, 2005, 2006 working, performing and creating with Madonna. Of course he could direct her shows because he knew HER, and he knew his shit behind the boards. Kevin Antunes inherited an uneven new album to tour for, in huge stadiums and ball parks (while the new boss is getting a divorce, no less), the SST had some really odd moments with all the mashups and weird transitions, so even having done the big shows with previous artists, dancers, choreographers, etc. , I never envied the position he was in, because after the Roseland Hard Candy promo show, his fate was sealed with Madonna fans after Hung Up. I also would not have envied making the sound work on the MDNA tour going back and from Stadiums to Arenas, working out the sound and musical elements with all the elements that show has, I think he did a good job. RHT I felt was better and worse, sometimes simultaneously, but it was fun show that Madonna seemed to have fun with, so the mp3 quality stems high up in the mix was little more easily forgiven. I think he did as good a job as he could with Madame X, he had a rich sonic palette laid out for him, (although all those trap beats over every older song was annoying and sounded lazy) as musical director, I would have demanded a live drummer and bass player. But for the most part the sound mix was good. Especially American Life, Batuka, and the Fado Section. And even though I’m mystified that NO ONE has offered her or discovered a different vocoder effect for the live vocal mix since DWT, all I can think at this point is that maybe she’s pissed off her band with some of the antics and is purposefully overdoing the auto-tune/vocoder to sound so much like a goat....at times. Not all the time. Lol. Going back over his work with Madonna, I have a hard time thinking at this point he hasn’t figured out to use his band to make her voice sound better live instead of artlessly using studio stems and vocals pitched way the fuck down. All that said, who knows though, maybe he was contracted by LN for the duration of her 360 deal, so they could maximize profit and make sure the machine kept running, and running, and running. Unfortunately though, she is the boss, and she’s primarily responsible for any damage to her live reputation.1 point -

In my opinion M's recent work could use an edit. Too many images and too many songs for a release these days. Her best bet it to keep it short and sweet while still being M. 10 songs. One strong image. 3 booklet photos. Lyrics. Simple like the Herb Ritts days.1 point -

Working with Justin Timberlake. Working with Justin after he threw Britney and Janet under the bus. When people insist "Dance Tonight" should have been a single. A "Rock Your Body" rip off with the lyrics "You don't have to be rich and famous.... to be good"................... Of all people to induct her into the R&R Hall of Fame.... Where he once again took the opportunity to take a swipe at Britney. I'll take "Hey You" feat. BTS and The Migos over 2008.1 point -

I was in high school, had been a huge fan since Day 1 and I was shocked, it was all over the press, everyone talked about it, and the fact the book was so expensive and wrapped in foil made it even more shocking and controversial. But I deep down also admired her, though couldn't admit it, and also didn't really understand what she was doing. I remember being a bit embarrassed by some of the pictures at the time, just wanting to look at them, but I only ever saw it briefly at the time and not again until a few years ago when I purchased my copies off eBay. In retrospect, i respect Madonna so much more for her attitude towards sex, beauty, self love and acceptance, though from a career perspective, it did change the public's attitude towards her. Funnily enough the book still shocks, I had a party a few months ago and bought the book out and showed some of my friends, who while not fans, grew up with Madonna's music and the photos we have of the faces when they saw some of the pictures, almost 30 years later, are pure gold. Madonna still had a way to shock and provoke a reaction even after all this time. I love her for it!1 point -
The Grillz. Hey if she likes them, great. But when it hinders your ability to form words properly, even more so if you are a singer, then baby they ain’t for you. Madonna has proven over all of these years how intelligent, erudite she is when in conversation mode. If she could wear them without it sounding like she has a mouthful of takeout, then that’s a bit different.1 point

I just want her to put down the guitar. Forever. At first it was cool, and if she persued it the way she does her skin-care line and all the non-musical stuff, she would probably be fairly good by now and be able to actually compose with it and/or use it to record new music. But as it stands, the three-chord thing is just a kinda silly way for her to "rock out" onstage and to take away what should be a great opportunity to rework her older songs with more interesting arrangements. I would loooooovvvvvveeeeee to hear a cool new take on something like "Burning Up", but instead she straps on that damn guitar and plays a ridiculously lifeless version of one of her best early tunes. Don't misunderstand, I love me some guitar rock, and I love primitive, Stooges-type 3 chord stuff, but the novelty of M bashing out her classic songs with that thing on every tour is so over.1 point
