  1. Listening to the entire Bedtime Stories album right now and I am falling in love all over again. Honestly, it is my most overlooked Madonna album. It's energy is completely different than the other 14 studio albums (I count Breathless) but the energy does not translate into weakness. I used to think the album chronicled a broken heart but today it feels more like a falling in love vibe to me. It is warm and sensual and flows well from beginning to end. A full listen is like having the best romantic interlude ever. So many gems in one treasure chest. What a romantic genius Madonna is. I miss 90's Madonna.

  5. Alright, let's be real -- This is the tour that kicked off Madonna's decrease in touring power. There's constant chatter in the fan community about the various reasons why, but I think it really came down to two issues: * The setlist * The late as eff start times The tour is hands down her most visually appealing, as well as best choreographed...so how that feast for the eyes didn't launch her into new touring stratospheres is beyond me. If you were to change the MDNA Tour, what would you have done? I'll start -- The setlist: Transgression Virgin Mary (Intro) Gang Bang Papa Don't Preach (Full) (upbeat dance mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTl9uoXc6hQ) Hung Up (Original Mix) Bad Girl Die Another Day (Revolver choreo / lighting; ending the same way as IDGA to the DAD instrumental) Prophecy Best Friend (Interlude) Express Yourself Give Me All Your Luvin' Beautiful Stranger (Rock Version) Open Your Heart Masterpiece Masculine/Feminine Justify My Love (Interlude) Vogue Physical Attraction (mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_orLLMCsK9E) Human Nature Like a Virgin / Falling Free Redemption Nobody Knows Me (Interlude) I'm Addicted Ray of Light (Calderone Mix) / Cyber-Raga Like a Prayer Encore Celebration (Album Version) / Holiday Yes, I know GGW didn't make it...a lot of MDNA didn't. The album just doesn't hold up to the other Madonna songs and almost sounds clunky in the context of the rest of the setlist. Plus, this tour happened right after the Super Bowl and was marketed as the Madonna World Tour 2012 -- It really should have been treated as more of a RIT scenario, rather than a self-indulgent show. Oh, and the show starts at 8:45 PM sharp, just like Confessions and all tours prior did. Fast forward to 2019 -- Madonna is on the Madame X World Tour, selling out arenas on back-to-back nights. Fin.

  6. It's important to be careful not to draw conclusions. She could be upset at something else and is using the Director's cut image to make her point. It is not necessarily in relation to the posting of the video. Just because an explanation makes sense doesnt mean that that's it. We dont know what she is talking about. Could be music-related, MX Tour-related. We cant be sure. Dont assume,

  9. A mess of an opinion. She literally broke down the door for women in pop so everyone else could follow.

  10. The ongoing battle today is to toughen up the weak who rely on and or do not want to upset the patriarchy. I'd rather be unpopular. Madonna's challenge of the patriarchy in the 80's and 90's was new and exciting but now that we have had a "revenge of the patriarchy" in everything from music to politics in the last 20 years or so many are siding against her. Stay strong Madonna. ?

  12. Tbh M likes to play the victim rule... more of a drama queen lol... like some said she’s pissed off yet posting the leaked materials. WTF? ?

  13. I mean at the end of the day, the two videos are not that different to warrant her to be upset IMO. So I think it has to do with something else. Either the MX Tour film, her biopic, or new music (I know that's a reach). I feel like the "you know who you are" is going to have news media talking about this.

  14. I love the MDNA Tour, I think its actually her largest in terms of cutting edge production and costs and her most ambitious since Blond Ambition. It is also one of her most physical-demanding shows of the 00s & 10s. I agree with the poster above, we just need someone to re-edit the DVD with pro and fan live footage to eliminate the over-editing and give it a 'live' feel.

  17. Which producer's work do you admire the most? (both writing and production work) Not speaking from the point of significance, we kind of know who they are, but which ones do you think are the best? Also comment on your other favourites. Mine: 1. Shep Pettibone 2. Patrick Leonard 3. Nelle Hooper 4. Jellybean 5. Mirwais (Madame X. I love AL but I wish somebody else produced that kind of album)

  20. I wouldn't have said Bedtime Stories is my favourite album, but it's my most listened to. I listened to the whole album while on the train yesterday and I never get sick of it. And I really enjoyed Human Nature although I'm sick of it, but hearing it with headphones and that bass *boom* It does have a mood and cohesion combined her soft lush vocals is delicious. Love Tried To Welcome Me is most delicious and lush and whimsical. One of her best.

  26. It's really odd with Madonna at times. She bangs on about the patriarchy and yet she so often surrounds herself with men professionally. Has a woman ever produced one of her records. Sure Tracy Young has remixed a couple and Starrah wrote a couple. The others were buy ins no ( Jewel, Bjork, the early hits), The only one i can think of who had a real hand in the early days was Mary Lambert. How many photographers, directors, producers, writers, choreographers has she used? You know you could probably do a fair bit yourself mom by lifting other women up you know.

  27. I recall that this is NOT the 1989 Cherish but an early track with the same title.

  28. Sorry but I really don’t understand. I can’t see how this has anything to do with the video director. If she were so upset with it she wouldn’t repost it and use (fan-made) still of her looking flawless. I think it’s more likely to just be some random Madonna ramble like most of the things she’s posts there.

  32. Agreed — if you watch old Michael Jackson shows, it’s very much the same... Audience footage to emphasize dramatic reactions of the crowd to their presence. Almost like an ego thing. And with the MDNA Miami show stories, it almost feels like she went into overdrive with those shots strictly as a rebuttal to how awful that night went haha. Anyone remember the Sorry audience shots on the Confessions Tour? Always killed me. I do wish she would get with Jonas again...he would have captured MDNA beautifully. That show def deserved the NBC special treatment. To clarify, MDNA is my second favorite tour behind Confessions. I just think the set list was the one part that needed some rework...it didn’t need to be Rebel Heart Tour karaoke style renditions to produce an awesome greatest hits tour. The MDNA Tour was the perfect production level and timing to produce a 2010s version of Reinvention. If only she would manage the balance between old and new stuff a little better. 5-6 songs from the new album is more than enough nowadays. She has such a vast discography that she could produce very different shows each tour without resorting a) only to the new music or b) Vogue / Like A Prayer / La Isla Bonita....her greatest hits has 40+ songs! It’s a phenomenal tour...it just kills me that she didn’t realize its full potential as an iconic show, similar to Blonde Ambition status.

  34. I don't think any artist out there has that many great songs that can also be so vastly different. Pet Shop Boys were mentioned and yeah someone could say they have done songs like Love etc. as well as songs like Rent but the vocals and style remain always the same, you know straight from the start that any PSB song out of any decade, is a PSB song. Elvis too, adult MJ etc. But someone can hear Ray of light, Rescue me, Masterpiece, Bitch I'm Madonna, Material Girl and never believe it's the same person. I think about 5 years is the longest Madonna rested with the same style of music. After that she'd always open another door and make magic elsewhere.

  35. Two things. I would extend Papa Don't Preach until at least the second chorus, and I would have Express Yourself sound less tinny. Music nowadays almost needs to be mixed digitally by digital instruments and computers. But the oldies... if they could be recreated with a full band on a world tour in the early 90s... they deserve the live treatment. BIM would have been impossible during the BAT. So don't resort to karaoke tracks for the oldies. THANKS. lol.

    Madame X Tour DVD

I agree they just got the info from M forums and IG fan accounts. The backstage of MXT is better left hidden, according to all the things that went wrong. Unless she wants to justify herself. I also agree she shared the concert teaser but can also destroy it. Remember she trolls all the time... mixtape... In a perfect world, we'd get a double disc with: 1 full concert + 2 doc. But we all know she would never do that.

  40. Love Tried to Welcome Me should have been a single. Madonna always was outstanding with ballads. She seems to embrace them only sometimes and shuns them mostly altogether on tour. I guess that it is hard to fly around and do cartwheels while singing ballads. But Bedtime Stories seems to be a soup for the soul. Midtempo Madonna is wonderful.

    Fix the MDNA Tour

I thought the MDNA tour was great I think it's her best show since Confessions - would just change Replace Revolver with Beautiful Killer Replace Turn Up The Radio with a back catalogue that would work better as a rock version Replace Like A Virgin with I Want You Include Love Spent on the European leg On the DVD Fix the poor mixing and vocal processing on Girl Gone Wild - the vocals sound really weak and the overall sound really tinny Ideally have all the footage from one stop on the tour so it feels like one show even if it's not from one night - I think it might have been possible if they had filmed the shows in South America as intended where the audiences would have been amazing and added to the atmosphere. The nights they filmed in Miami I remember reports they had a pissed off audience with some people leaving early as they started so late and guess that might be why they mixed in footage from other shows including non HD material for some shots Less filters on the DVD but understand they had to do it as part of the colour grading to get all the difference shows used to look more similar in terms of colour and lighting Less contrived audience reaction shots I always cringe during revolver where she sings 'I can't believe it' after she walks down the steps and someone in the audience gasps and put theirs hand over their mouth like 'they can't believe it' lol - was much worse for this on the Rebel Heart DVD though with audience from so many different shows and people reacting to songs that were clearly from other parts of the show

  47. I mean... Tori Amos and Bjork. They're not as commercially successful but their catalogs are impressive, even if I don't get down with every single thing they do. Goldfrapp... they haven't been around as long... but I worship every single album they have. Again they're not as commercial, but that seems to be the case with alot of really amazing artists.
