You're completely misrepresenting what he meant - he posted that in response to somebody saying that Madonna has never used sex to sell her music or advance her career. He didn't mean it in derogatory way at all if you look at the whole thread, in fact, he clearly sees it as a celebratory and empowering thing.

Ha I have no idea. I just said I’d love to have them. I feel like the songs were mixed as edits not as full versions and then then edited. But I’m sure at least some of the original mixes are longer and then further edited down to fit on CD length. I don’t agree. I find that Lucky Star and Borderline fade way too early. PDP is nothing without the instrumental part at the end (even if I can’t tell the difference between the original and the Celebration video mix). Cherish is the worst. The Cherish Cherish intro starts and then the track fades out. And La Isla Bonita is weird without the intro. The edits I find 100% perfect are Vogue and Material Girl. Also I always fantasized about the album having some short interludes, like Janet’s albums. With elements from other songs that were not included. I don’t think WTG was ever mixed for the album. I assume it was scrapped from the start since it’s too similar to La Isla Bonita

You’re misquoting. He did not say she ONLY had success because she has used sex throughout her career. But to deny she has used Sex, (and the taboo around issues regarding sex and gender norms), as a tool to gain people’s attention and then hit them with a message is plain wrong. She’s a genius at it. Madonna made sex front and centre because her sex was seemingly out front of centre of hers and every woman’s life. So she turned it on the patriarchy and used it against them. They look better to me. If I’m honest I am much happier with these upgrades than what we had on YouTube previously (480p.) I hope they do all her videos. I think it’s most likely cost that prevents them from doing a better job. The expense of going back and rescanning/editing film would be enormous. But she is not the only artist with crap quality YouTube videos. There are many many older artists that don’t even have all their videos on YouTube at all. The fact is these old videos were never intended to be watched and scrutinized on 4K TV’s. So to expect that quality is unrealistic.

I'm trying to think of a logical reason why they wouldn't do it properly and all I can think of is that remastering all of them properly is too expensive. She has a lot more music videos than more artists. Maybe they decided to do a decent job at all of them rather than an amazing job at 10 of them? Anyway it's 1000% better than what it used to be

Personally I like longer songs so if the edit doesn’t have any new elements I don’t care about it. The only edits I prefer over the album versions are Holiday and Everybody (the real edit not the fade). I wish one day we’d get The Immaculate Collection with the full unedited edits.

I collect official edits because when I love a song, I need to have all versions of it, but just like you, I like the full length deal.

I don't care what the footage shows behind the scenes -- Still won't make me, nor most fans, feel sorry for her after the very unprofessional "wait and see" approach she took that resulted in many fans stuck in non-refundable circumstances (e.g. hotels and flights), apart from the tickets. It's really in her best interest to present the show and let it stand for itself. It's fascinating that she seemingly hasn't realized by now how her personal side destroys her brand more every day...between her Insta, her diva behavior resulting in shows starting the next DAY (re: Madame X Vegas show), her rants that go on and on onstage, the way she's presented herself at every public occasion since god knows when... Being a fan of an artist and being a fan of a person are very, very different things. Admittedly -- And please, fans, don't crucify me for this -- But I don't really like Madonna "the person", outside of her catalog, concerts, TV performances, etc. We just don't jive personality-wise, at least based off of how she's presented herself to us. But she has so closely entangled the two for a decade now that it's near impossible to enjoy the end product without it being tainted in some way by her latest antics. Imagine the Confessions era with concerts starting after midnight, canceling shows left and right, and deciding to start the show with the Confessions Interlude some nights, just because? Or showing up at Live Earth the next year in the 2018 VMAs outfit to perform a setlist of Hey You / I Love New York / La Isla Bonita / Like it or Not, kind of like Pride? I have a feeling we'd all have a very different after taste over that era today. If only she would recognize how great her ART is without all the superfluous gimmicks outside of it. I really do believe if it weren't for her personality these days and the extent she goes to put it on display, she'd still be attracting attention from a much larger fanbase. It's easy fixes -- Getting on stage on time, not selling a show as a concert and then using it for 10-minute political rants, having a professional Instagram like any other business or brand, throwing away the ungodly GRILLZ that stopped being popular in 2005 (seriously, WHO is the audience she is trying to appeal to with those? And don't give me the "she doesn't care about her audience, she's an artist" speech -- Yes, she most definitely cares about her audience and squeezing out another hit and wouldn't be collaborating with Quavo and Swae Lee otherwise. Give me a break). Instead, if there is behind the scenes footage, in all likelihood it will continue to present her in an off-putting light with censorship rants and her fighting with management over canceling the tour because she wants to show she's a trooper, and it will be a shame, as the show should be presented without all that baggage. Yes, it had its faults, but it was a beautiful show.

This. Like, who even knew that we'd hear that recent Goodbye to Innocence (which is AMAZING, by the way) one day? I'm sure there's hundreds of demos, snippets, scrapped album tracks, etc. for them to release for years. They could bring on Stuart Price to create a studio album of reinvented greatest hits. They could release all the tours on Blu Ray. They could release alternative professionally recorded shows on video / audio. They could have exhibitions about her career like they did for David Bowie. Believe me, there will be many, many Madonna releases long after she is no longer around.

There would still be tons of material to collect. Things would be regurgitated as the music companies always do. Plus she would most likely still use instagram. Was she supposed to have a full on promo tour performance with a live band and dancers and choreography when she ISN'T PROMOTING ANYTHING? What exactly is the problem?! Is taking over every single screen in Time Square/The Standard Hotels with a custom video for Pride while simultaneously performing on a bartop in a small club and then vogueing the night away with happy people not enough for you? Maybe the video should have been professionally edited by Jonas Ackerlund? For free? or should Madonna have just paid for it out of her pocket because she can afford it. Because YOU require more. For me these short versions sometimes make the title even more dynamic. Once erased, certain secondes or minutess that may seem repetitive give a new energy to the song. A song like LUCKY STAR for exemple is more dynamic with its edit version than the LP one. Sometimes you have to be honest, some are really missed and said as a fan "but no, why deleted this ?!" HOLIDAY for exemple is awful for me : "Holiday, Celebration, Come Together in Every Nation" doen't really features on the edit version. And I don't talk about NOTHING FAILS, it’s the worst of all

This is such a tired trope to dismiss her actual musical talents. It really speaks volumes of our sexist society when "she's good at selling sex" and "good business woman" are the only back-handed compliments that some people (generally grown men) are willing to give her. Yes, the woman is a sex symbol and clearly loves the attention but I don't think Madonna has ever been the stereotypical bimbo who caters to the male gaze and has nothing of importance to say. Her sexuality has often been agressive, confrontational and political. She was actually very brave for challenging gender norms and pushing the boundaries in our hypocritical society, especially during the puritanical 80s and 90s. You simply don't become one of the best-selling, highest-grossing and most-acclaimed musicians of all time because of your looks. In that case, Samantha Fox would be the one inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Like, is it really that hard to believe that Madonna sold 350 million records because people *gasp* actually like her music?. If this was 2003 / 2005 she would have time to release American Life, all singles, do the Britney colab, VMAs, Re-Invention Tour, the children's books, multiple photoshoots, live 8 and recorded Confessions on a Dancefloor. I could say this for all eras. I never saw her sticking with the same thing for so long. It's quite weird.
