  1. Let's see how it will develop these reissues, I have my doubts, but I expect they make justice to such a legendary legacy. I was fooling around with this excited news at my day off and decide to create this mockup. Although I expect better design wise and a different package (like Rolling Stones reissue box for Tattoo You or Prince box set reissues).

  2. I'm still recovering from their PR statement a week ago, she just came back from her B-day celebrations and already hard at work. We truly don't deserve her.

  3. As you can see on this video, Madonna has been spoted yesterday in Williamsburg (New-York) with Ricardo Gomez. She has three different looks and a new hair color (or probably wigs). Someone on instagram says it's for a magazine shoot (Rolling Stones) but nothing is certain for now. Video : pics :

  5. The Warner partnership was probably signed about a year ago and is the reason why the EPs started to begin with. I don't think they will stop.

  10. That's exactly it. Madonna did not like the Edo Bertoglio cover (that looked a lot like what he did for another singer Cristina who passed away this year). In his book "Siren Song", Seymour Stein says that Madonna asked the art direction at Warner to not go with this cover and told Martin it was a decision made by the label Another version came from Michael Rosenblatt who was in charge of Madonna at the time, he thought she was not blonde enough on the pics. Warner US had no interest in Madonna at that time. She was in fact signed under WEA the european branch of Warner so she had no real support and hence why she did so much promo in Europe for Holiday. Warner started getting interested when Borderline exploded and the album sales went up. It's all in Seymour Stein's book.

  11. Lucky Star did get released as the 3rd single in U.K. as “full length version” and “edit” and got the gorgeous sunglasses cover in color. But it flopped while Holiday was getting a lot of traction. I still haven’t managed to get my hands on the 7” which is extremely rare and expensive. The flop of LS is the reason why Holiday never got a video. They were afraid to invest more money before they had proof her music will sell. After she promoted the song on every relevant TV show and the album was a hit they quickly shot back to back videos for Borderline and Lucky Star.

  12. Hey everyone! Do you find yourself liking certain Madonna songs, music videos or tours that are rarely mentioned by the majority of fans? do you think a specific popular bit of her career to be a bit overrated to you? is there a special thing you prefer in her career, looks or creations that most people don't seem to like? share your unpopular opinions! Here are mine: 1. The best Madonna album artworks are MDNA standard edition (the full body shot behind ribbed glass, in a red dress) along with Rebel Heart Deluxe Edition (with the wires) and Madame X deluxe (blond hair). 2. I prefer albums from Ray of Light until the present way more than the earlier albums, even though I still adore all her works, old and new. 3. American Life is probably the best work she's ever done after Confessions on a Dancefloor and Ray of Light 4. MDNA album is a work of art and it's hugely underrated. 5. Every tour from Drowned World and onwards is way better than the previous ones. Blond Ambition Tour is great, yes but Madonna surpassed that so many times already and it's by no means her best tour, and it's actually hugely overrated compared to her far superior recent ones. 6. I don't see the appeal in Faz Gostoso... 7. Looking For Mercy is one of the best songs she's ever made and it's not getting enough recognition. 8. Get Together is her best dance up-beat song and it's way better than Hung Up, Sorry, Ray of Light, Give It 2 Me, 4 Minutes and probably any single she released after it. 9. X-STaTIC Pro=CeSS book and exhibition are a pinnacle of her career and one of her best looks ever. 10. Unapologetic Bitch is probably the worst songs she's ever made. 11. Bad-ass and disco Madonna from Die Another Day and American Life and Confessions on a Dancefloor aesthetics is way better than the fishnets, crucifixes and bustiers from Hard Candy, Rebel Heart, Madame X and the past eras. 12. Ghosttown, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, To Have and Not to Hold, Mer Girl, Easy Ride and Justify My Love are among her best tracks she’s ever made. 13. The 80s are Madonna’s most overrated decade. It has some of her best songs, yes. It’s when she made her first and most explosive moves, yes but she surpassed that in her 90s and 00s by miles, and in terms of touring, MDNA, Confessions Tour, Re-Invention Tour, Drowned World Tour and Sticky & Sweet are far better than Blond Ambition and Erotica is leagues better than Like A Prayer, True Blue, Like A Virgin and Madonna as an as an album and same applies to anything from ROL and onwards. 14. Die Another Day is her best song and music video. 15. God Control is one of the best tracks she's ever made and it should've been performed at Eurovision instead of Future and had the album launch and tour ticket sales the next day. 16. I'm tired of hearing Madonna perform oldies over and over on her tours. I'd much rather have new material and forgotten gems like Easy Ride, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, Falling Free..etc. over a 10000th rendition of Vogue, Like A Prayer, La Isla Bonita or Hung Up. 17. I can’t stand 95% of her remixes or remixes in general. The only remixes that I genuinely liked as much as the album version (if not more) are Frozen (Stereo MC), What It Feels Like for a Girl (Above & Beyond), Celebration (Benny Bennasi & Akon remixes), Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold) and God Control (Offer Nissim). The rest feel rather unlistenable. That's all I can remember for now, so feel free to share yours.

    Is MDNA Skin dead?

She hasn't mentioned anything about it in a very long time. Has MDNA Skin died and gone to Madonna business ventures hell with Hard Candy Fitness and Material Girl fashion?

Luckily we'll get a full trailer coming out very soon, next week we'll be a month away from the premiere. And I wonder if they'll release a single with a live video like they did for Rebel Heart Tour...

  26. i always said DVD to refer all physical formats of a live release until Kylie released her 2018/19 tour on DVD only after us fans said "release Golden Tour DVD" non stop and she ended releasing just DVD (of course the lack of blu ray wasn't that but it felt cursed) ???

  27. So would you rather have a bluesy with content that might as well be on a DVD, because it makes you feel better knowing it's old footage burned onto a Blu-ray Disc with no obvious difference in quality because it was filmed on video tape? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. The Lady Gaga feud turned off the younger generation (especially lgbt) more than any of the trend chasing and social media antics. A duet around the time of their SNL skit would have been perfect. I like a few songs from it, but Madame X (album and tour) is wildly overrated by her fans. The biopic needs to have major young stars attached or the general public isn't going to care the way her stans think they will. Aside from the Superbowl, 4 Minutes, Confessions, and the Britney kiss, she hasn't been on the American GP's radar for 2 decades now unless it's completely negative press. That is a lonnngggg time... I'm aware of how unpopular these opinions are to people here, but that's what this thread called for. A wise woman, who I still adore, once said "Handle it".

  36. Probably not lol. Madonna has lost her marbles. Like I was wondering was she always this way? I remember reading comments from old school Madge fans on the thread: "What Happened to Madonna after 2007?" where they were claiming she's always been this way...I just don't know

  37. more opinions! (And then some) -Her 1984 cover of "Love Dont Live Here Anymore" was awful. It was screechy and oversung. -The Ray of Light era was great! But her performances were really dreadful. She only had two (3) good vocal performances: "Ray of Light"/"Little Star" on Oprah and "Frozen" at the Rainforest benefit More opinions coming soon!

  39. I am pretty sure Madonna was only signed through Sire, a subsidiary of WB. I think she went to Europe because the dance music scene was stronger and the sort of image Madonna had fit in more with that scene. The UK press were quite nice to her in the early days. Seymour or Michael Roseblatt knew Rusty Egan as well and he was big enough in the UK to give Madonna some clout when he mixed Everybody for that market. Which Madonna hated and had no qualms telling him. When she did a promo trip to the UK in Feb 83, she refused to perform his version and later told him she hated it and he was a shit producer/remixer. I think in terms of the Lucky Star album. From what I have heard, Madonna was being pushed to be more like Pat Benatar and that album cover seems more like something she or Cyndi Lauper (who was not well known at this point) might have done. Rock/Pop was still a thing in 82-83, but was also dying out in the US. This might explain why they went with Burning Up as the second single and why this track was eventually scrapped in Europe/UK. Madonna stated in interviews in 83 that she wanted a more raw sound, more rough and street (one of the reasons she was unhappy with Reggie Lucas' more polished production) I'd go along with the idea that Madonna hated the cover and Rosenblatt agreed. Michael doesn't get enough credit with pushing Madonna mainstream and working hard on helping her to build her career. The album cover we got is more in line with Madonna's image. Madonna herself said the reason Dance music artists were failing bac then was because they didn't have the image to back up or compliment the music. She saw, even in 83 with MTV in its infancy, that image was important. So I would go with the idea that she managed to convince Rosenblatt and Stein to scrap the original concept.

    Unpopular Madonna Opinions

Sorry, but I am such an Evita fan! Saw it 4 times in a row on the day it came out! Maybe my position is unpopular
    1 point
  41. My unpopular opinions: -I actually like most of her movies and I don't think her acting is *that* bad all the time. She deserved an Oscar nomination for Evita. -I love the song Little Star. -Hard Candy isn't that bad. -Bedtime Stories is one of her best albums. Secret is one of her best music videos. -Like A Prayer's title track is great, but the rest of the album is -I LOVE her children's books. They were a big part of my childhood and my introduction to Madonna. -The 90's and 2000's were her best decades artistically. I don't listen to her 80's music very much, although I do have a few songs that I really like. -She is always beautiful! There may be some looks of hers that others don't like, but I basically love and appreciate them all.
