Goodness, what's all these pathetic arguments about it not being true HD! Blah, blah, blah. Whether upscaled or true HD, I don't care. It's much better than what we had before and it looks great on my 4k TV. At least Warner or whoever is finally giving us what we want, but people still ain't happy.

Because you are mixing two different concepts. 1080p is just a resolution, nothing more, but to call something "High Definition", the material must be from a true High Definition source (above 720p for "High Definition", 1080p for "Full High Definition", and 2160p for "Ultra High Definition"). If I upscale a 240p video to 1080p I don't get a "High Definition" video, I just get an upscaled to 1080p video. Erotica is an excellent upscale to 1080p, but still not "High Definition" because the source is from SD material. It's really the same with music, a lossy mp3 won't be a lossless file if you save it in wav. It will be a lossy file stored in wav format.

If You Go Away is a cover and she did it with Leonard. Mirwais a limited producer? He's probably the more versatile producer she worked with. The stuff she did with him for Confessions has nothing to do with the stuff they did on Music/American Life, same for Madame X. You can dislike him of course, but saying he's limited as a producer doesn't make sense. He's not Orbit who uses the same loops and sounds on basically every song.

As I already wrote on another topic, I think that the Mirwais sessions are among the best of her career, her voice sounded wonderful, she sounded very much in control of what she was singing and the message behind it. Mirwais has always had radical, left wing political views and I guess that Madonna relates to him on that level. Miss You, The Game, It's So Cool, Set The Right, I'm In Love With Love, Is This Love (Bon d'accord) are great demos, I'll always be curious of how they could have come out if the movie project or whatever had gone through.

People are talking about the quality when they say it's not HD, not how the file is encoded. You can blow up an SD video to 4K is not going to magically become UHD with the detail and clarity it should have.

Only if the original source/master is HD. If the master is from a SD source It's just an upscale. A video with resolution 1920x1080 can be real HD or an upscaled video. It's really easy to understand that.

The best option is always to get the video from the original tape with the original quality. Not changing ratios or upscaling. Just the ORIGINAL recording with the less compression possible. You can't make miracles. Or... Do you consider this great? Mariah "remastered" her videos. Upscaled to create an illusion it's HD. The result is really worse than the original SD video!

The problem is not the 35mm reels. The problem is that many video-clips were edited in video with special effects (for example in this video, the logo of Erotica). So they must recreate the same special effects from the scratch in HD if they scan the original negatives, and edit all again. That's the problem. Anyway the final result of Erotica is really, really good. As I said in my first post, I would buy a Blu-ray with her videography in this quality without any problem.

Warner are probably using the same upscaling software fans are using on this forum but all aside this is the best I’ve seen erotica even if I’m just watching on my phone - the SEX footage will never look HD anyway so this is a bad video example to use . When they get around to uploading videos which currently look like shit now ( I want you and you’ll see for example ) we should get a better idea how good a job they are doing ?

Bottom line is they can only be true 'HD Quality' if they go and find the original 35mm reels and digitize them otherwise it's just an upscale from a lower quality 'SD' source.. My dream is that they do find the reels and do this but i'm dreaming I know :( It's just annoying that the official sources say it's now available in HD.. It's 'NOT' it's an upscaled Standard Definition master that's not the same thing.

I can not find a topic on who should play Madonna so I hope it is not a problem to post this here...if so please post it in the proper place. I also do not know if it has been suggested before but could this actress, Sarah Gadon, play Madonna in her 30's? ....Please forgive me. I looked it up and I see it has been suggested she play Madonna. I am so out of it on these things. I saw her in a movie last night and thought she was brilliant as well as resembling Madonna. I view the oakenfold version of It's So Cool as a remix, rather than an original song. It's a fun remix! BUT I absolutely dislike his version of 'Celebration' - ewwwwww. Thank god for the Benassi mix!

The Celebration version is pretty horrible omg. I'm glad the acoustic demo leaked, it's a very nice song.

The video never looked better so I don't get the complaints. It's not Bad Girl, the original video was filmed for the most part with Super8 camera but it's looks amazing now. And her face is not melting like in some fan upscales lol.

Everyone thinks this is HD until you see actual 4k remasters from the original tapes like this: This is what an upgrade looks like.

Years asking for remasters and yet when her team finally starts do it some people still complain. "Erotica" has been uploaded in HD now to celebrate the anniversary, same time as the remixes on digital. This is about celebrating her career and making her back catalogue available to everyone and new generations. Digital EPs + HD remastered video at the same time seems like a great way of doing so. Err... Because if you play the video, then you'll see that there's nothing "HD" on it. Even the film grain is "blurry" not "sharp". Yes, It's from a good master and can do the trick because it's an upscaled well done, but the video is far to be "real HD". If the video is really from a HD master, then youtube have destroyed it with the low bitrate, but I highly doubt this is the case. Anyway, I would buy a Blu-ray with her videography in this quality because is ten thousands better than Celebration DVD.

Well... It's not real HD. The video is upscaled at 1080p. But one thing is good: At least the video is upscaled from a master tape, not from a compressed DVD or VHS.

I'd also love it if they put some rarer remixes up as well. There's a wealth of material they could be sharing with the world.

I mean... if you look closely at the released footage there are hints to how much they've done so far. And I would say they are further along than she alluded to in the Facebook Live video. All the footage was in order of setlist. Seems like they've already got their angles and the whole show mapped out. There are also various effects already added to parts of the show to enhance or fix what didn't translate in a certain shot for the screen. We got two shots being blended together in Frozen. We got Lourdes superimposed on Madonna at a specific angle that could not have been achieved with just camera work in Frozen. We have text superimposed over her boyfriend in the opening scenes so you can still read the words when they use a close up of him. Some sort of movement special effect in Dark Ballet. Black and White filter on IDSIF. And what seems to possibly be a red filter on Vogue. And that's just the small bits we can see so far. I know what her wording was in the Facebook Live, but I don't think they are "just beginning" editing.

I really don't understand why you're being so tragic. You are spreading fake news! She confirmed they are working on it two days ago! The only complaint is that it will take months and might be released in 2021.
