I’m not sure she planned this from the beginning, I’m thinking she didn’t look right on film behind a screen with a projection. I mean honestly it didn’t look that great in person. Kinda like Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You on Sticky & Sweet.

Maybe there is no rest. It looks like they only called back a handful of dancers and only recreated the backdrops, not the stage. So recreating most of the performances of the show is impossible without noticing that it's different. It looks like they are only filming Future (just a piano, two dancers and a backdrop, easy to recreate), the God Control opening and Frozen, probably for close ups cause this are "Madonna-only" moments. I think she is almost done with the reshoots. Can't think of anything else she would need to or could possibly recreate. I think she has knows she was going to do this from the beginning, but because of covid and her surgery, she couldn't right away. So she left the editing to the later part of 2020 and focused mostly on the movie. It was a smart time-managing move. She dyed her hair pink and experimented in 2020 and then went blonde again for the reshoots.

Unpopular opinion: I really like the way they edited S&ST.

Madonna is everything. I've seen her live since the Virgin Tour. There is nobody better. She is #1 for a reason. The Madame X era needed a huge edit. IMO Her frought with grief theater tour is here worst for many reasons and now that Netflix wasn't afraid to tell her, she now knows it as well. Finally someone didn't just yes her to death and let her embarrass herself any further with this project. I hope she re-shoots a lot of it. Why not? Its her shit let her .If Taylor can re-record then so can Madonna. I want the best product possible.

Still have no idea what’s going on really but feel like the thinking of it being the performances behind the screens that were a problem with the initial recordings makes sense. She was kind of hard to see in those performances IRL so wouldn’t be surprised the footage doesn’t look great. However, one thing at least is that she looks absolutely stunning! I don’t know if it’s partly just seeing her with eye make up on again, as she’s been going without it a lot recently, but she looks a lot more like herself, beautiful.

Never cared for the backdrop with Lola, it’s nice in theory but Lola is not that interesting to me. She pretty but bland. Would much rather have some erotic imagery with models and M signing in front of. But I get the intention with the Lola one.

Nobody said she had to have a hand in the production of the DVD, but it's obvious it wasn't just post production of live vocals on that DVD. It's very, very obvious some of it is dubbed with studio recordings. Even the tone of her voice and pronunciations are altered, auto tune doesn't generally do that.

That is most likely what months of rehab and healing will do to you. Lord know what she was putting herself though and putting up with during the tour. If she had to cancel shows because of pain, you have to wonder how she even felt on the "good days". She's in a much better place now thank god.

I really like the video edit from S&S video. My only problem is with the audio. It sounds too fake for me

I was 3rd row centre in London - and was I greatly looking forward to the 'misty, hidden' Madonna appearing behind the screen for the opening lines of GC. However, the impact of it was sort of lost and it was over before I knew it. I can see how that would have been tricky to film and get looking . Frozen - I can't imagine that the glorious Lola video and visual impact of that will be removed. However... what if they are re-filming certain shots so that they can 'recreate the screen' digitally for TV screens...? Maybe the screens are binned for the re-shoots in favour of a CGI screen!?

If that backdrop of Lola isn’t used for the film, think of how rare now the backdrop used for the tour will seem hahaha. Thank goodness we got some o that.

Oh don't shoot me, that is one of my favourite performances of Madonna live I have seen with my own eyes. Not sure why, probably just because I was not expecting it, but I did love this on the S&ST. Loved Frozen and Future more though.

As much as I had expressed reservations when Madonna was swelling her cheeks in recent years, today I salute her radiant face rid of its growths. I don't know what she did, and even though it doesn't look very natural, she facialized really turned back to hot

It's not, it's dubbed studio vocals where bits have been left in dubbed because they really don't match the video dubbed. Auto tune doesn't correct to the extent that a disastrous (Borderline) vocal can be turned into a perfect vocal. When you correct a really poor vocal (Most of S&S) you end up with lots of latency and artificial electronic style vocals... and the time ends up very robotic. Melodyne would be a better option, but no, the only part of the DVD that is a polished vocal is Argentina and YMLM.

it was her live vocals, but autotuned in post. Listen to Borderline and how it goes back and forth from edited to natural.

I'm pretty sure they'll just film her real close up for frozen so it looks as though there were cameras inside the screen during the actual show.

I love Netflix, there's some amazing stuff on it but there's just as much undoubtedly poor content as well, beautifully shot or not. And my life is fine, thank you, I appreciate you asking though .

Can you be more specific? What seems “forced”? What specifically makes you think she’s doing this for the “greater good”? From the Instagram stories she seems in good spirits in my opinion.

Agreed. When HBO shot and aired Blond Ambition and The Girlie Show and even Drowned World Tour, they knew what they were doing. When left to her own devices, Madonna is not solid or honest anymore in what she releases. I truly believe a deal was signed for MX to be aired on Netflix and upon receiving Madonna's version of the final cut they pushed it back across the table and said, "you need to do better." And since no one is buying DVDs anymore, and the tour is likely to have cost her a bit in penalties and such, she needs the revenue from this portion of the show to cover off the losses, so she's adhering to their request - but not by choice. And this is what needs to happen going forward if we want superior quality releases from Madonna vs the sub-par quality we've become used to over the last decade. Guy-O is probably tired of the fight and is why he's not present. And no one else has the balls to stand up to her. Netflix has no reason to air a poorly shot concert for an aging pop-Queen with a bad reputation and attitude. And in all honesty, if they aired her original version (the poorly shot, no close-up version) it could do more damage than good to her reputation as a solid performer. This will get more exposure than most of the concert releases she's done since Drowned World Tour or Confessions, I'd have to look back at how well those did when they aired if there is data available. This could be the attitude adjustment we've been waiting for -- and in a good way.

This is highly amusing to anyone with an active Netflix subscription - there's so much subpar product on the platform both, in their original content and the stuff that's licensed on it. SO. MUCH. CRAP. I also sincerely doubt anyone would and could dictate Madonna how she should present her content at this point in her career.

This documentary aired the end of last year. It's also a slightly misleading title as it only covers three songs from 1983-84 that she didn't even write.

Does anyone even know how much I love the Madame X era! I want it to continue forever! I’m so scared that she’ll never be able to top this era again. It was legit everything I could’ve asked for! Persona change, Politically charged, the autotune is orgasmic, Mirwais return, amazing videos and documentary. She made this an event! And somehow I was lucky enough to attend that MTV interview thing and talk to her during the tour. This album was legit made for me. I finally heard American Life and Frozen on tour. We got to hear her sing Portuguese and Spanish. The manifesto is AMAZING! This era will never die! It deserves the respect that albums like Ray of Light get. It’s ambitious, important, and brilliant!

Some of my favourite parts of the show were the projections which came out to the walls and ceiling of the theatre. I felt like i was part of the show.

same. Madame X is 100% madonna. First cd of her i bought after the confessions tour. 13 yrs gap worth it to me. MX deserved better.

My only comment is, if Netflix is now in control of this then they have a level of quality they expect and demand from any product they're going to show. And clearly, they're not 100% impressed with Madonna's version of a final cut and want more. When Madonna is in control of the editing, we get no close-ups. We get super high contrast videos that blur out her face. And the product feels over produced. Maybe having WB back in the picture, and now Netflix for this project will course correct the final product vs how Madonna would have done it, which in my opinion is a welcome change. Final edits about someone should not be done by the person, they tend to hide the things they're afraid of (signs of age) and I'm of the belief that embracing those very things is what will make Madonna stand-out in a positive way. Embrace your age. Show the lines. Show the world that it's okay to age, and that you can still put out brilliant work - you don't have to pretend or enhance digitally to make something "better" than reality. So while this is not great in terms of timing (I think usually, the deal to show on Netflix would have been arranged much further in advance, but with M's new link to WB they're going to get more exposure for this release than just a DVD) - PLUS, Netflix' involvement would normally be during the shoot or editing process - allowing for re-shoots to happen while the tour is still on or just right after -- despite all of this, sending M back to do the right thing and get those close-ups and not allow for professional releases to include iPhone filmed footage, is the right thing to do. Someone is pushing her to be better - to be honest - and to admit or just be forced to put out a better quality product. This is what we might have been missing the last few years. Someone that edits or produces Madonna, vs her doing what she wants which she might not be qualified to do or the best person to do it without honest feedback. When I know she's doing the editing of anything, I'm rarely excited about it. I cringe at what she's going to fake out or skip ... like no close-ups, super high contrast black and white concert footage so we can barely see any of her facial features ... but if I knew someone filmed and edited her tour professionally, without her involvement -- I'm excited. I know I'm going to see an honest and as live as possible concert, even if there are re-shoots for some closeups that didn't get caught the first time around.

I would love if they update the live albums with the full shows. Imagine having the full Confessions Tour on streaming And also Sticky & Sweet. They could even put the Drowned World, Girlie Show, Blond Ambition, Who's That Girl and some other shows. I wish some day they'll do that.
