    "I'm Breathless"

Cheap? Cheap? What?!? Putting "cheap" next to songs like "He's a Man" and "Something to Remember" just do not mix hun! I adore this album. I think it's really well written, incorporating elements of jazz, modern pop, whimsical liners, yet still managing to sneak in personal bits. While, yes, I do understand what you are saying musically, I hear that specifically with Back in Business, but certainly not the other songs. It doesnt take away the beauty of the record itself. The only song I dislike is Cry Baby.

    "I'm Breathless"

At the same time it's not too different from the 90s soundtracks that used to come with a 'credits hit' closing an album. MC Hammer ' Addams Groove" Cuban Pete in the Mask etc.. And the video and lyrics of Vogue work within the theme. I would love something with Keep it Together-Vogue and Rescue Me,... Houselicious!

    "I'm Breathless"

I have always loved this album, it's a masterpiece and He's a man is a great opening of the album. I love that song, it's the best track on the album imo. I agree that Vogue was misplaced on this album. top tracks are: He's a man Back in Business Now I'm Following You Sooner or Later More and I agree the bare bones single mix of "Hanky Panky" is much better than the album version. This fanmade video is perfectly done.

Honestly, if the cover was different and all references of Dick Tracy were removed I think people would see it for what it is, an amazing Big Band album. Hanky Panky deserves more recognition in her discography.

    "I'm Breathless"

You are right. In my opinion, it belongs to the single trilogy “Express Yourself”-“Keep It Together”-“Vogue”. Shep Pettibone did three singles with the same house sound. And with the success of Vogue, they decided to include it in “I’m Breathless”. But as I said before, the change of the intro works perfectly after “I’m Following You” (but it is still out of context).

    "I'm Breathless"

Oh, please. Stop with the unnecessary "remasters". I'm Breathless doesn't need any remaster. Only LAP (lack of bass) and ROL (lack of treble) need a remaster.

    "I'm Breathless"

It's a Masterpiece and sadly underrated. (cheap?, CHEAP????) I even love the hated tracks (I'm going Bananas, Cry Baby). My only complaint is Vogue. It's a fantastic ending for the album (because the song is too good and the intro flows perfectly after "I'm Following You") but it doesn't belong to the "I'm Breathless" era.

Besides Cry Baby, I think the album is flawless. It's actually my top 5 favs He's A Man alone is one of her best album tracks!

  12. I love it (also always skip Cry Baby but do love the ending) - It's the muddy mastering that annoys me. Hopefully it gets a proper remaster so it doesn't sound like it's been ripped from an old cassette (which is how I originally listened to it anyway). If you can't wait until 2057 here's a fan remaster: [Hidden Content]

    "I'm Breathless"

One of my favourite and played so many times, I think was my first Madonna's vinyl. My favourite song is More for sure and I never dislike Cry Baby or I'm going Bananas, but I do find them more irritating these days. And I'm not not much into ballads but Something to remember always get me. He's a Man is the best intro

  16. I love this record, and first owned it on vinyl. I thought there was something wrong with my copy after the song Now I'm Following You, and was heartbroken for a couple of seconds. Then it morphed into the dance mix, and I laughed at how funny the transition was. It's an album that is loved by several genetrations. I played a few songs for my grandmother a few years ago, and she asked me to get her a copy of it. Whenever she has guests over, she'll play a song from the cd and ask the guests if they can guess who the singer is, and they are always surprised when she tells them it's Madonna. Even my picky grandfather liked it, and was surprised at how rhythmic her singing was. Much better than he expected. He also loved the movie Who's That Girl. He saw it for what it was: A silly comedy. He thought Madonna was great in it.

  19. Do people really think Music is one of her better songs? I don't get why it has such fanfare around it as a live staple. One of the weaker songs on the album methinks.

  20. No. The Holiday from FEL has a longer ending. They didn’t use the correct edit point for the fade out. They probably did that on purpose though to keep something on the Holiday single somewhat exclusive.

  25. It is definitely one of my favourite albums of her first career decade. It was a very big surprise for me at the first listen. I love each song apart "Vogue"...because it is simply out of context (it is more a non-album track and it has been unnaturally included in the record probably just to drive its sales). The record clearly testifies to her ability to improve her vocals and explore a different music genre, more adult-oriented. IB is a concept album, not a soundtrack (see similar examples as "A kind of magic" of Queen that includes also songs inspired by the movie Highlander). Top songs: Back in business, Hanky Panky, Something to remember and More...

  26. No, "Gambler" was "Everybody" type of "too much" mastering, and the speed was different from the original (!). "Lucky Star" was good.

  29. No, it's Everybody. I downloaded the clip and cut off the obnoxious laughing girl so I can turn up the volume without her cackling blowing out my eardrum and can confirm I hear Everybody. As someone else said, we can hear the lyrics "Let your body take a ride"

  32. Wait, why so much hate for Cry Baby? Would you knock it off, please? It really is a fantastic album and Sooner or Later is probably one of her finest ballads with that immediate standard vibe to it. And I actually love the artwork, it always mesmerized me by how colorful and busy it is, you just want to keep looking at it noticing each detail!

  42. The "remaster" of Gambler (and Everybody) is atrocious. Too much distortion because the dynamic range is too compressed. Only Lucky Star has a good "remaster".

  46. I found the article! Steve Barron wrote this back in 1999, and here's whet he had to say about this song: Many are surprised to learn that the song that won Madonna over to Sire Records company president Seymour Stein has never appeared on any of her own albums. Madonna's first Warner Brothers single "Everybody" was released in April 1983 and was produced by club DJ Mark Kamins (a rare remix by Rusty Egan was used on the vinyl 12" for the UK release only). Bray revealed, "Everybody was supposed to be her second release, not her first." After Madonna was signed in late 1982, several versions of "Ain't No Big Deal" were recorded with different producers in an effort to get the most out of the song. The first production was a 24track master recorded with Stephen Bray. The second production was done with Mark Kamins, and the third version was done with Reggie Lucas. The final production was a remix by Jellybean Benitez based on the Bray version. Once the record company decided to spend the time to produce several different versions of "Ain't No Big Deal", "Everybody" was issued as Madonna's first single instead. Bray however got the sole writing credit for "Ain't No Big Deal" and in the meantime sold his publishing rights to July Fourth Music. Disco act Barracuda then recorded and released their own version on Epic Records before Warner Brothers had selected which Madonna version to use for her release. The song was then dropped from her first album and Madonna's then boyfriend Jellybean Benitez found and produced what would later become Madonna's first American top 40 single "Holiday" as the replacement. Years later the Reggie Lucas production of "Aint No Big Deal" was released on the B-side of the "True Blue" single, but the other versions remain unreleased. Bray added; "There was also another version of "Everybody " that Madonna used during club performances remixed by Jellybean Benitez, which has also has never been released." So I misremembered who did what. If someone wants to read the whole thing, you can find it here: https://groups.google.com/g/alt.fan.madonna/c/Tdex7sSpUEw?pli=1
